3:30 Yes, that gravis art is specifically of Salamanders, its been on calendars and the old Salamanders battleforce box. I also believe they did have their own supplement back in 8th edition, but I'm a new10th edition baby so I could be wrong. They could be using the Salamanders are as a place holder, but us Salamander fans are VERY familiar with that piece of art because GW keeps using it for us. Edit: I'll also add the Vulkan He'Stan is still a resin model and needs and update. Adrax is there too I guess, He's more of a short-story guy instead of in the novels. I'll also mention that in the lore he's kind-of the next primarch to come back. The other loyalists pretty much disappeared either into the eye of terror or the webway saying "yeah I'll be back y'all". The Salamanders leading text, the tome of fire, says that Vulkan will return when his artefacts are collected and placed together. (Suspicious side-note, there is a "giant of a man in baroque power armor" in Trazyn's collection...) Lastly, we just got the reprint of the salamanders omnibus and it has been 10 years since the last 40k Salamanders novel. Rebirth was meant to be the start of a new salamanders trilogy, but never followed up on. So I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to make a dedicated primarch Vulkan model and release that next novel to explain his return. Lore-wise and marketing wise, it makes the most sense to me to have this big push.

@SmashingSnow As true as that is, space wolves have two dedicated detachments, even if they are neglected. While both chapters are neglected, the Salamanders are more neglected. Iremember a few months ago the sisters of battle got a whole bunch of fire/melta updates and salamander fans were all jealous and felt left out. Similarly the reason I say Vulkan is next is because Russ basically said "I'll come back when the Imperium is at its darkest hour" which is more vague than the Salamanders' glorified count-down. Likewise the space wolves are less codex astartes compliant than the Salamanders. Salamanders are somewhat exempt from many of the codex's rules since there are fewer in comparison to the other chapters, but the space wolves are kind-of their own thing. What this translates to is that the space wolves need more time to have stuff tailored specifically to them. The Salamander version of inner-circle would be the firedrakes. MAYBE 1 special dreadnought. Space Wolves have 3 special dreadnoughts and lots of unique units. Lore-to-gameplay that means it would be easier to throw the Salamanders (and other similar chapters) a detachment or two, and update their models, MAYBE throw Vulkan in with no promises while the space wolves needs more tailored specifically to them. In a ultramarine-to-non-ultramarine ratio, Space wolves land on a 30:70 in favor of non-ultramarine. Salamanders are more 50:50. Basically, from a production standpoint, Salamanders are less work. From a marketing standpoint, the Salamanders have been gaining more attention. From a lore standpoint, we have a better idea of when Vulkan will come back than Russ (still vague AF but 5 out of 9 artifacts recovered is still more of a lead than an end-times prophecy)

@SmashingSnow Kind-of the Salamander version of the Deathwing. 1st company veterans who are often depicted with custom/personally made terminator armor. The most prestigious of them become part of thr pyre guard, who personally guard Vulkan/forge father. The Horus Heresy has some exclusive firedrakes already, but I believe those are still resin too and there are no 40k rules.

Even the basic CSM codex has only 10 actual MEQ/TEQ unit choices vs. a whopping 7!! unit choices for 'mortal' Chaos followers?! There's more vehicles to choose from than there are the Marines themselves! Chaos is a damn joke at this point

Salamanders have two unique units in Horus Heresy: Pyroclasts and Firedrakes. So we could potentially see a version of those, although it would go against GW's strategy of not replicating 30k stuff in 40k, especially as the Salamanders have long been considered a vanilla codex compliant chapter that doesn't do anything crazy. One suggestion is the flame marine represents several upgrade sprues coming for codex compliant chapters including Salamanders.

According to rumours, TS are getting automata. There has been a few rumour engine images that support that but we'll see what drops. Oh and there's lore snippets supporting it as well as Magnus really wants to stop Vashtorr who's hiding in the Pariah Nexus so he sends in the automata

Yeah, the captain with bolt rifle is great with heavies. His gun is good and he basically gives you a free CP each round and some decent melee. He seems like a must-have for Gladius to me. Give him the Adept of the Codex enhancement and he can always step out of an engagement and open fire with their bolters.

3:30 they had their own supplement in 8th that lasted through 9th edition, so there is some form of precedence for the codex chapters (iron hands, ultras, sallies, imp fists, raven guard and white scars)

The last few years have been great for us Eldar players, we've got tons of new models! I'm a slow painter, so if I get all the models I want it'll probably take me up to the middle of 12th to get them all painted! There's not much in the range that's desperate for an update now, although I do think a new Farseer model would be good. The current model isn't bad at all, and it's not finecast, but the base is smaller than that of the new guardians, and it's outshone by the new Warlocks. The Farseer is such an iconic unit, so it would be better if it had more presence. They could do multiple helmet options - it would be fun if they brought back the retro fly like one I grew up with 😀👍

It’s almost guaranteed we’ll get more than one kit for world eaters, they usually drop a new faction with a kinda small range and then fill the holes next edition. Berserker surgeons (what you’re referring to) are basically guaranteed, so are juggernaut Calvary, and I’d say good chance for an on foot lord and red butcher terminators

@ We'll probably get a Berserker Surgeon as our minimum 1 table scrap release, and GW will count shoving all the Khorne Daemons into our codex as our 'big expansion' release, just as they screwed over 1kSons in 8th by lazily slapping all the Tzaangor options & Mutalith as their 'model releases' When you stop and think about it, WTF couldn't we even at least get the Slaughterbrute since 1kSons already had the other half of that kit, let alone why did lose our Vindicators? (1kSons got to keep theirs, while DG had them replaced with the Plagueburst Crawler) WE's have been nothing more than an afterthought up to this point.

Thinking the Salamanders is meant to mean more generic space marines. More specifically, a refresh of some of the characters in the codex that weren't cut out but still currently have resin. Like Lysander and Vulkan He'Stan. Maybe also means Assault terminators? And best guess for Templars might be like a special chaplain. Maybe a chaplain redemptor?

I play my captain with gravis armour, with mastercraft sword and bolter with heavy Intercenssors and matches the rifle range and makes it very hard for enemies to engage melee at the objective

I would love to see a resurrection of the Doom of Mymeara style Eldar Corsairs army. For the war walkers I was really hoping for them to get an update, maybe one that gives them the bits to make the WASP assault walker from Corsairs range. Voidscarred is a nice start, but would really love to see it go even further. Ynnari would also be great to return. For marines I would like to get some more Gravis units, fire support (long range weapons missiles, plasma, autocannons, etc.), assault (assault bolter and melee option, shields), and an assault inceptor unit. Agree Dark Eldar need some updates as well (me I don't care for the boats, but I do like the infantry and venoms....might have to convert a alternated ravager).

I know this is a bit of a cold take, but I don't think Primarchs should have ever been playable miniatures. It just feels wrong that every army of a faction has to include their primarch in so many lists, and that they end up dying in almost every battle. It just feels... wrong :D
