Something really interesting about early holo-sights that I wish survived today is the genuinely 3D reticle. Technically all holosights have 3D reticles, but the old-school ones really leaned into that fact by using depth to their fullest advantage. Are you accidentally tilting your gun to the side? A little line will show you how severe that tilt is. It's a limited feature, but a charming one.

Saw another comment that mentioned this but would really love to see you guys play into the holographic strengths and mitigate some of the weaknesses for your next optic. 1. Shake awake for battery life would be awesome, could keep the optic on 24/7 and wouldn’t need to worry as much about the battery dying 2. integrated BDC to account for different ammunition’s / magnifiers 3. Maybe a solar panel to keep the optic topped up 4. Push the magnifiers !! Magnifiers are one of the best pros to a holosight vs a red dot 5. Battery life indicator

All the kids in here talking about wanting more battery life and gimmicky features like “shake to wake” don’t understand the concept of a proactive professional combat optic. 1) It is a LASER PROJECTED SIGHT which is what makes it a HOLOGRAPHIC and thus lasers use more battery than a red dot which has an LED or light emitting diode. 2) “Shake to wake” is something that can fail if you need it for the “bump in the night” and then you need to turn it on anyway, that is why REAL combat optics like Aimpoint and Trijicon don’t use it. If you need something to stay on for two years straight for a defensive gun get an Aimpoint or an MRO HD. If you are a professional “shoot bad people in the face” guy then the EOTech is superior in every category except weight and battery life, which battery life doesn’t matter as a mission is generally scheduled. I would never trust my life to a “shake to wake” optic as that feature can fail at the worst time. Also quit acting like a CR123 battery is so expensive. It’s $3, don’t go to Starbucks or McDonald’s once and you have two batteries. Geez…🤦🏽♂️

I think they feel compelled to make the differentiation due to all of the clone optics. Not the cheap knockoffs, but other makers manufacturing a similar form factor that aren't actually holographic optics. There's a massive difference between a projected laser image and a reflected led diode. I'm fairly certain most of the newer customers have no idea what the actual differences are and the effect it has on performance.

@@dylonbronson4542 I've used one before and have been considering purchasing one. While the 510c is nice during the day, it doesn't compete with Eotech's night vision capabilities, which is why I primarily use their holographic sights. Window and reticle clarity is important under nods, especially when using a single PVS-14. When your RDS completely blooms out your target under NVGs it becomes rather useless to where investing in an IR laser is a better option. Really depends though because when I used the 510c it worked decent enough under certain bright lighting conditions, but not in truly dark environments. If Holosun fixes these problems, I'm putting the 510c at the top of my list.

For all of the "Shake Awake" people, when do you actually see yourself using that? Is it just so you can grab your rifle and shoot without pushing a button first? That's the only use-case I can see for a rifle. It's not going to save you any battery life over manually turning it off. The difference in battery life comes down to Red Dot vs Holographic. You're not getting 50,000 hrs on a holographic sight. You ARE going to get a lot of other benefits that are specific to holographic sights, such as that 1 MOA dot when paired with a magnifier.
@actionjksn2 жыл бұрын
I would not have a red dot or holographic sight for home defense or combat that I have to turn on when I need it. It has to either have enough battery life to leave on 24/7 or shake and wake. Back in my younger days when I was wild and lived a crazy life, I experienced someone kicking in the door and coming in shooting. I can assure you there is no time to find the button and push it to turn on the reticle on the optic. The holographic sight does not have enough battery life to leave it turned on without having shake and wake.

Tons of people, especially people newer to firearms or just optics in general, don’t know the difference between a red dot and a holo sight. I’ve heard nearly all of my friends refer to EOTech holographic sights as red dots. This isn’t a product launch video, it’s a video explaining the difference between this product and almost every other dot-optic on the market. I’m not sure what you’re finding strange, unless you’re under the impression that because you know what a holo sight is that everyone else on earth must’ve been born with the inherent knowledge of weapon sights.

Why does my Eotec kill batteries, even when powered down? I'm not the only one who has brought up this issue. I have had to remove my battery when in storage.

I understand that the power consumption of a laser-based weapon sight is much greater than that of an LED red dot, but for those of us who like to always have the sight on, could you please consider a dual 123 or 18350 cell EOTECH that drew from only one cell at a time? You could place a small LED in the rear or have the reticle blink to indicate when one cell is consumed. That way, the user would know that he's halfway through his total battery life and replace the spent cell. Thanks!

Really like my exps3 except.., I recently picked up a G33 magnifier and now my "dot" is more like 3 or 5 scattered dots. That kinda bothers me, anything I can about that?

I love my XPS2-1 my eyes are terrible and having clear glass and a single 1 MOA dot without the ring is perfect. I just wish my eyesight was better and that 1moa dot wasn't a 3moa cluster but it is still better than and LPVO red dot or prism I've tried. Highly recommend more shooters with bad eyes try the 2-1 dot only.
