Nice review... I am just noticing people getting to review this wonderful synth this year. I am guessing eoWave is finally asking for more. As a Kickstarter backer for this synth, I am glad to see it getting more attention.

i do love the sound and look, it's probably one of the most versatile desktops out there, for what it is. The digital oscillator gives it a unique edge. ~ The plastic pots do put me of a little though. But, it's still on my list. superb demonstration, that first one reminded me of *Sonnie's Edge* from *Love, Death and Robots* - nice!

Thanks for your excellent videos on this synth. Since the "manual" is really a shame, this helps a lot. The sound of the Swarm is great und unique, but even after a few hours I still sit in front of the thing with a frown. For example, I don't understand the mixer, especially "External in". At 18:05 you send the noise signal in here. But no noise-signal can be heard in the result. I tried feeding another synth into it. If I plug the cable (mono jack) all the way in, nothing can be heard. If I plug it half in, I can hear the external synth, but not the swarm. And what is the "Rev in" input for, when the VCA is connected to the reverb anyway?
@synthanatomy
@synthanatomy 4 жыл бұрын
hey, nice to hear that you have one :) the patch at 18:05 I was so happy with it that I didn't raise the noise level what you can see on the potentiometer which is at 0 :) The external works a bit different. If you put something in, you can't hear because it works like with an envelope follower on it. This means, you need to turn up the volume but press a key. So with a short envelope, you hear a bit, with a longer you will hear forever. Or just run the sequencer which lets you open it forever. The REV In is a reverb input for external signals :) With this, you can ignore both analog filters and go straight to the spring reverb :)

Hi . Only just got into making music and got this synth ( thanks for the amazing demo ) am just wondering how or if I can get the sounds to come out of 2 speakers ? And if I wanted to add a delay pedal, how could I do this ? Sorry if I appear thick , but I'm as green as grass. Any info would be great . Regards
@synthanatomy
@synthanatomy 4 жыл бұрын
hey, it only has a mono output, not a stereo. It's designed to work with Eurorack synthesizers which are mostly mono not stereo. Stereo delay pedal with two inputs are capable to send out the mono signal in stereo. hope that helps :)

Hey, mistakes are human :) the review also includes sound demos made over a specific time period. Some very early ones (2 days with the unit) and mistakes like that can happen in the early days. You can see the other demos didn't have it. It's a learning process :)

How does the integration with a DAW like Ableton work?
@synthanatomy
@synthanatomy 4 жыл бұрын
it's not really designed to be integrated into a DAW. It's a standalone Synthesizer means you need to connect it via an audio cable to your audio interface. For MIDI, there is a breakout cable with which you can connect to MIDI using a classic MIDI cable. No USB. It has a MIDI CC implementation for seven parameters.

@@surf_machine I'm pretty geared out at the moment, but for a bit more money, one day I may pick up a Subharmonicon. After moving house and if I have some spare space on the wall, there may be Behringer 2600 going there, for about the same kinda dosh. ;-)

@@zpinkLondonBelow oh nice! my main setup is tr8s, dfam, subharmonicon and i just ordered the eowave. (also got a monologue, nubass & crave if i need) just wondering if it was the right purchase. i hope with the eowave i can happily sell the gear in the brackets. we'll see, probably i'll keep everything :9 you run a modular i guess?
@zpinkLondonBelow
@zpinkLondonBelow 4 жыл бұрын
@@surf_machine It was the right purchase if it is what you want, man! ;-) I'm just a random person on the internet who's opinion you can ignore. My comment here was my own opinion about this synth, and I liked the demo so I wanted to give some praise for that. I happen to know that some of the reviewers on KZbin gets thumbs-down for the gear they review, which obviously hurts their channels more than the gear manufacturer! I have 84 HP of Eurocrack and some semi modular stuff, together with the rest of my gear, it's way more than what I need on my unserious hobby level. :-) Congratulations to the Subharmonicon, that's the first Moog that I've ever lusted for. Not that I have anything against Moog, but I personally think they're a bit overpriced. If/when I'm ready to splash out on something new, the Subharmonicon may have to wait, I just remembered that there is that Voltage Lab thingy too! hahaha Have fun with your gear

@@zpinkLondonBelow thank you for this long answer which i can ignore bro ;D yeah subharmonicon and dfam are something else man! maybe one time a sub37 but yeah this stuff is expensive af, but worth the price imho. nice, so i just got into semi-modular. i've got the feeling i could get addicted to eurocrack as well in the near future - you can't resist it too long i guess :o btw nice little jams on your channel, thank!
