They always record with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, at least up to the last albums, so thats where the backing track comes from. Everything you heard was written and composed by the keyboarder, Tuomas Holopainen.

Nightwish concerts are a little over 2 hours long, so you have to be a true badass!! I am 63 years old and have been listening to hard rock/heavy metal since I was a kid...in the mid 1960's. Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, Black Sabbath ( with Ozzy ), Nazareth, Boston, AC/DC, Metallica, and on and on....and no single band has ever done anything like Nightwish! Their music takes you on a journey...and it's sung by this goddess!!! Oh...what you have felt listening to this song is called a "Floorgasm" by the Nightwish Army!! 😂😂😂

Guitarist's name is Emppu Vuorinen and he writes the guitar music because Tuomas (on Keyboards, main composer) lets him "do his thing'.... He can shred with the best but his feel for the song - do what is needed to improve the song and not overdo it - is exemplary!... Floor Jansen can growl too and check out ANY song from this Wacken 2013 show! Nightwish does not have a "bad" song and not even a "bathroom" song so strengthen your bladder!.... a little less "Bitch" and a bit more "Valkyrie" would make your reaction more watchable imo.... Still cool to see you getting into it! FLOORGASM!!.... the beast on drums is named Jukka Nevalainen.

[003C] Hello @ MK from SymMusicReact ! Nightwish fans here, your reaction just appeared on our radar.. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in 2013 at Wacken Open Air festival, in front of a 82k+ audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. I watched all your 3 reactions in a row, in the proper order (A, B, C) - your was the most emotional. Even that's your first Nightwish experience, you "clicked" immediately. I smiled to myself noticing how the main singer was promoted from "bitch" to "ma'am" as the song progressed :) Edited: for you - I'll subscribe to your (common) channel. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. Yes, NW is great and so is she. She is our one and only Floor Jansen. (Say: Yahn-Sen) Although NW is a Finnish band, Floor is Dutch. You can find out how versatile she can sing if you take the time to listen to her live performances, both with and without NW. Floor also started at the end of 2019 with a solo tour through her home country of the Netherlands since her success in 'Beste Zangers (Dear Singers) 2019' And yes, you can say it sounds like a movie soundtrack, because it is. Actually from this album is also makes a movie. Imaginaerum is a 2012 Finnish-Canadian fantasy film co-written and directed by Stobe Harju. It has been developed with and contains music from the seventh eponymous studio album by the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish; Nightwish's keyboardist and songwriter Tuomas Holopainen co-wrote the film. Although the music is the Same as the studio album, the title of each song is changed. The flaming bull's head is the official emblem of the Wacken Open Air festival and the crowd number attracted over 80,000 spectators

@@cancelled_user well, perhaps rather than thinking 'there is something wrong with how this person speaks because it does not conform to my ideas of how violinists should speak', you could also treat it as a learning experience: that there are clearly violinists out there who do in fact speak in ways you would consider 'cheap and low', and that maybe your perception of this being a negative thing isn't necessarily accurate or necessary. the world is full of different people! ^^

@@cinderellsworth Each to their own I guess, I'm encroaching 50, depends on where you are from and how you grew up. My casual language would be considered quite 'salty' by average standards. It happens as a matter of verbiage you are surrounded with growing up. There are places I don't swear - work for one, I once said 'well, fuck that' in a casual conversation with someone at work and the look of shock from everyone around me was priceless. Ah, you don't know me as well as you thought, eh? Easy to condemn when you don't know them. Welcome to magical world of the Nightwish! Nice reaction, enjoyed. Regarding the band’s music studies, the answer is yes, they have all studied music. Floor (vocals) started playing the piano but later began studying vocals. She studied rock singing for 4 years at the Rock Academy and one year of classical singing. Marko (bass and vocals) has studied singing and playing guitar and bass for several years. So there are two singers in the band who have both studied it! As a teenager, Jukka (drums) studied drumming for a few years. But the longest study of music has been done by Tuomas (keyboards, composer, poet, "metal Mozart"). He studied music for almost 12 years (between 7-19 years). History of music, theory ... Piano, clarinet, tenor saxophone. Classical and jazz. He started playing the piano at the age of 7 and said (in interview) he did a lot of classical music finger exercises on the piano, the etudes became familiar! It’s sometimes confusing to watch Tuomas play, it can look very wild. He has three keyboards, two on top of each other towards the audience and one on the left side towards the band. Many times he plays two at the same time, the one with the right hand towards the audience and the one with the left hand towards the band. But the wildest is when he plays and spins his head (windmill) at the same time. It looks absolutely amazing. But then it’s good to remember that his background, why he can play even with his eyes closed!

@galadballcrusher81824 жыл бұрын
well the band is the prime example of symphonic metal genre though their range varies as they have songs among others like jazz, thrash , power metal , folk, hard rock , ballads, poppy, operatic.... and even some growling. They have had 3 lead vocalists so far with Floor being third one and most flexible and multi purpose. First one was more operatic, and second was more for studio but less for live concerts. In addition to Floor the bass player Marko is an amazing vocalist who was lead in his old band Tarot and they have a multi instrumentalist named Troy who also sings. As for the symphonic part of their sound, Tuomas who is founder of band plays keyboards and composes 95% of their music writes also the symphonic parts that are arranged and recorded by London philarmonic etc to be used as backtrack during the songs

For their latest double album Human|Nature that came out in April, the entire second disc is 30+ minutes of symphonic music with very little vocal or spoken word. One of the top comments is from ... yup, Floor herself. :-) She does have her own channel where she puts up basically a vlog. in one of her Saturday Storytime videos (I think it was #2), she said she was asked what she is doing for a work-out. She replied, she's not doing work-outs, she is just working on her farm. Cut to a scene where she is swinging a big hammer, ramming in fence-posts for a corral for her two horses... From these videos, she really seems down to earth and really likeable.

welcome to the fantastic musical universe of nightwish and floor jansen, queen of the stage and goddess of music. the whole 2013 concert in wacken is epic and deserves to be watched and reacted song by song, the whole 2013 concert in wacken is epic and deserves to be watched and reacted song by song, but in particular I suggest you watch the songs of the same concert: "song of myself", "storytime", "ever dream" and " Romanticide " this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" live in the 2015 concert in london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" live in the 2015 concert in tampere - finland.

Yeah, I wondered if your comment at the beginning about the skill of metal musicians was due to the unusual time signature(s). I don't know enough to follow them except for counting 12, 5, 6. It's certainly unusual and shows off their composition and performance abilities. And yeah, she's 6'1" or so, plus some heel - got some presence. Also, you should definitely play in a metal show - I don't know how often Nightwish uses a live orchestra with strings, but Epica sure does.

If you want to hear some more symphonic metal that has orchestral backtrack then give Epica a shot. Their Retrospect live show has a orchestra and choir on stage with them. Floor even shows up twice in that show (Sancta Terra, Stabat Mater Dolorosa). Give Presto a listen for a classical twist!

Metal music is the gateway genre to classical music, paradoxically, classical music is the gateway genre to metal music. The combination of the two is the apex of music.

If you wanna hear something more classical from them, the second half of their latest album, *Human:||:Nature* (the songs prefaced with *All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World)* is almost entirely instrumental, and makes heavy usage of their partnership with the London Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the newest member of the band, Troy, who plays the Irish Pipes and the largest mode of the Tin Flute. The whole thing really has a much more classical vibe to it, and it'll really give you an appreciation for how good of a composer Tuomas (who's also the keyboardist) is. This link should take you to that part of the album playlist: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXbEmH-pe6x9f6c

SMR....Great honest reaction, thank you. Her name is Floor Jansen ( Yansen sound, Dutch ). Not 10' tall, just 6'1". Band originated in Finland in the 90's. I had to laugh...as I was sliding my cat ( Charlie ) from in front of my screen yours jumped in your lap. The dog was much more subtle just allowing his ears to be seen. Hope you do some more Nightwish, reactions. This was nice nice, they do the Bad Ass stuff very well also. You are about to have a large number of visitors on your station. If you wanna play in a metal concert, I'd imagine you could find a band to try it with - I doubt attitude would be a problem :D It's no longer just guitars, bass, keyboards and drums... Among just Finnish metal bands, Apocalyptica has made a career outta playing metal with cellos, and the power metal band Turisas always rocks a violin (and an accordion). New Nightwish albums and tours feature multi-instrumentalist Troy who plays Uilleann pipes, tin whistle and all kindsa instruments.

No 'like' or 'dislike' from me, as I'll wait to see another NW reaction (I'm part of the 'Army'). I will say I'm glad you liked it/them, but that you seemed more impressed by their hair and 'look' than any of the music or singing. Hopefully that will change.

I'm just going to put it out there: If you love what you see with Nightwish, then you should check out Brittney Slayes and Unleash the Archers -- one of the _few_ vocalists who can even come close to Floor, lol. Check out Abyss, Soulbound, Awakening, and Apex, to dip your toe in the Power Metal genre, then move up to Tonight We Ride and Time Stands Still -- I guarantee you Brittney and the band will blow your mind, lol. Welcome to the Nightwish Army, by the way. You're now one of us. 😁 By the way: This "metal show" was a metal festival that Nightwish headlined in 2013 -- where 82,000+ people attended.

Very raw reaction fantastic to see, and I've seen way too many Nightwish reactions. You nailed what the music is meant to sound like when you said it was like a film score. Tuomas (keyboardist) is the main composer (over 90% of the composition and arrangements) and he describes his music as "film music metal" but they fall into the symphonic rock category. I'm pretty sure the drummer Jukka arranged most of this song. The London Philharmonic performed Tuomas' composition for the backing track though I think Troy had a major hand in the interlude. Just some answers to some of the things you were talking about as seeming interested in. Yes Ma'am!

Her name is Floor Jansen & she is 6 feet tall without her heels. On stage she is a Viking Angel, off stage she is a wife, mother & humble girl next door. You may want to listen to "Sancta Terra" by the band Epica with Floor as guest singer because it has a live orchestra to accompany the band.

Everyone of them have some kind of classical training especially Floor Jansen the singer, plus the band has been together since 1996, Floor joined in 2012(10 months before this show) she had 48 hours to learn their setslist and to join them in Seattle Washington, after flying from Amsterdam Holland. They have a new album out called HUMAN::NATURE, and it is a musical masterpiece, all of their music and lyrics are composed by the keybardist Tuomas Holopainen, who has been descripted by peers as "A modern day Mozart", The band is Finnish, except for Floor she is Dutch, and they have a multi-instrumentalist Troy Donockley who is from England. Yea they all speak perfect English, and many other languages,
