Ep 04: I MESSED UP! | Simple socket install goes wrong...

In this episode we are installing a few extra socket outlets, socket outlets for a SkyGlass TV with wires hidden so there are no wires on show.
We use the Metabo wall chaser and Metabo dust extractor to chase out a channel and a double socket outlet.

Happened to me a lot until i started using the variable speed setting on my rotary drill and started using lower speeds more frequently, not to mention i'd do other nasty things like puncture existing conduit which was ofc a nightmare, nowadays i just use high speed for the initial crack, switch to low speed immediately after and then sometimes will do the finishing with a manual hammer and chisel just to get more control, though i do this more often when i know there's existing conduits in the area

Probably find only a 75mm block wall rather than 100mm, quite common in dividing none load bearing walls , most of us me included have done it at some point mate , enjoying your vids 👍

Don't worry about your mistakes, all apprentices make them and you will learn from them, the electrician you were working with should of pre warned you!!! Not Your Fault 👍

I Never plaster mainly because i am not a plasterer i always let the customers know this beforehand. Plastering may look easy but if its not done right when its painted it looks 10 times worse. In this instance let the plasterers do the repair after all its not like your paying for them is it.

Please consider some safety glasses, they are cheap and your eyes are priceless.

I know… I know I should wear them but I’m yet to find a pair where I can actually see through them after wearing them more than once.

Get yourself a teflon foam gun and some low expansion foam this is by far the best way to stabilise plaster around a socket. The gun makes the application completely controllable, you don't need loads and you can leave the foam in the gun for 2 years without issue.

Cheers Pablo I’ll take your advice… what can’t you understand about that once I’ve drilled the first hole it knocks out the plaster so once you’ve drilled your other holes they’ll show because you’ve knocked the plaster out… Thanks for your advice though Titts Magee
