Hi, thanks for watching :) We currently have a one year residence visa which you can renew every year with some assistance from your town mayor. Then apply for a permit visa after a 5 year period (or I have heard it could even be sooner). Once you move here with dogs they need a passport which is organised with assistance from your French vet (when you get one). Our dogs have been cleared by export control and are therefore able to stay with us for the whole duration. If you move around the EU with them then you need their passports as well. Yes I did. To get a French Visa you have to show proof of your French address, rental property (as in bills) or home ownership.

Hi Jay. We have opted for a 1 year visa initially (residential visa) and then we are looking to reapply every year after that until we can apply for permanent residence in approx. 5 years time.

Thanks so much for your vdo, I am retired, live alone in Perth WA, and visiting France every 2 years in the past 10 years. Last year, I lived in Lyon for 3 months and Paris & other towns for over 2/3 weeks. I am thinking of trying to live there longer in a year to come. I just started to follow you and your vdo is very insightful and interesting. Enjoy the summer!
