Really good job on the video. I love her passion for fishing, the lure tour was my favorite. Keep it fun, you guys are an inspiration! You came from New Orleans? Please post previous episodes. I was on the Mexican west coast (S/V Shoot the Moon 2006-2010). I'm struggling with going back to sea, maybe crossing the Pacific. Currently in Mobile AL, boatless. Thanks! ;-)

Since you chose that weather window…were the weather reports erroneous? Or you chose to go anyway because the direction of the wind was good?

It wasn't supposed to be as bad as it was that first week! But we knew we would have an upwind slog to the region of the Galapagos until we met up with the east tradewinds. Once you reach those trades, it is the sailing dreams are made of!

Just found you at episode 10. Echo other comments re excellent quality of your videos, really exceptionally good. Would really love to see videos on you finding and prepping the boat...don't see them on this channel, do you have another on that topic or plan to do any such material? Thanks.

Thank´s for the nice video. What kind of boat do you have?
@iwouldsaygo Жыл бұрын
Thanks! It is a 1983 Pearson 424 Plan C. Most are ketches but the plan c is a cutter with a different layout below. We got her as a pretty plane weekender and rebuilt her into a globetrotter. Still have lots of projects though!

I see you have a Dickensen Carribbean stove, we just purchased one. How do you like it?
@iwouldsaygo Жыл бұрын
Overall, it has been great. The oven temperature is a bit more like a "suggestion" so having a stand-alone thermometer is important so you can dial it in. We bake lots of bread now that we are in remote anchorages. There is a characteristic pop from the baffle plate when the oven heats up - first couple of times it is startling! The piezo-electric starters do seem to fail so worth getting a spare or two. We just light with a butane lighter now.

hey love your videos how you make your tea?
@iwouldsaygo Жыл бұрын
Thanks. We typically use an electric kettle to heat up water and make tea in a travel mug. We refitted the boat with LiFEPO4 batteries and a 3000 watt inverter so try to save propane by using our inverter to heat up water.

Dont think i could imagine anything worse rocken around 24/7 on a hot boat. No where to walk . At least a cat run flat

I guess your fishing gear is happy you didn't catch the daddy of all tuna, just a little baby.

Our freeze is about the size of two shoe boxes and is already full when we leave for long passages... we would have to eat a heck of a lot of fish really fast if we caught a big one!

So why in the WORLD would you pull a Transducer in the middle of the Ocean. You obviously dont need it in the middle of the Pacific , yet taking that 1 in a 100 risk is just careless and a rookie sailor move. What if the sleeve was cracked ? What if there was hull fracture there ? just WHAT IF ?? I can see if your 1/2 day from land but there ?? That is exactly how people have that one in a million Murphys Law accident. If I woulda been on that boat you'd have had a full on Mutiny if you attempted that. Always say to yourself Is it Necessary? Do I NEED to take that risk ? It always happens when you NEVER think it could. Cheers

We could plug that hole 5 different ways with materials we keep on board including a supply of underwater epoxy. We have four bilge pumps including a 2 inch discharge "oh snap we sinking" pump. Also we have a death wish.
