When it comes to the most dangerous dogs on earth there's one name that comes to my mind, and that is my friend Kyle Schwab. He has been working with and rescuing Cane Corso, Neopolitan Mastiffs, Dogo Argentino, Presa Canarios and many more for a very long time.
In this chat we discuss the issues with these dogs including poor ownership, the dangers involved in owning and working with them and a host of other VERY interesting topics. Kyle and I have been friends for a long time, so this is a great chat between two friend that I think you're gonna LOVE.

A friend told me he wanted a Caucasian shepherd or a Cane Corso for protection. He said no one will be allowed to touch the dog until the dog is 18 months old. He wants the dog to bite anyone who touches him. I said “I’ll write to you in prison when your dog kills someone and you are charged for manslaughter or murder”

@@cristoferramirez9251 I live in a small town in Texas. 90% of dogs down here are reactive, aggressive, ignored etc. I told him I had a protection trained GSD. He loved everyone, anyone could pet him because he knew what a threat was and how to appropriately respond. He didn’t get it.

@kenhalperin3195~I couldn't agree more! I have a special contempt for sadistic bullies, and guilty of finding satisfaction in seeing them get what they dish out. And it's unfortunate that we, as a society, have been so conditioned to be "non violent", that when there is someone who is a threat, many people just seize up and don't react, and it seems to be precisely why people don't really know what to do or how to fight back against (I can't say the word or my comment will get automatically censored, which has happened twice while trying to respond to you, this is my 3rd attempt, if you can believe that) so let's just say, to fight back against the serious disrespect and lawlessness of the current government toward our own people, though I digress. My point is, because we're taught to be so "non-violent", it actually puts us at a disadvantage, as non violence falls on deaf ears to a bully. We're taught to tattle on these sadistic bullies, and they aren't always caught as many become fearful to report it, so they don't always receive the justice they should. What I liked about that part of the video, was not just that the scum bag got knocked the heck out, but that he had a normal reaction and didn't hesitate to correct his sickening behavior in front of anyone or everyone. And who wouldn't defend him, because most people are good at heart at least somewhere in them, and there is a line they won't cross. Bullies don't respect that line, it's as if they don't have or see one, so they won't see it for others. And so many of them are straight up cowards. I mean, of course he's got to pick on a woman with a puppy, right?! (Such an A-hole!) Sorry about the long comment, I'll just finish by saying, it's unfortunate in our well intended effort to dissuade violence, it still doesn't eliminate it much. We're not taught how to defend ourselves, just in case we find ourselves up against someone who intends to harm us, and a bully knows they can quite easily do so with little to no apprehension, and it makes victims out of too many people. How is that going to help anyone? Wouldn't it be more of a deterrent, if kids were taught in school, self defense as part of P.E.? At least people would be on equal ground and people would know to or think twice about harming someone because in their cowardice, they wouldn't be able to enjoy the kind of sick pleasure they get at being able to dominate someone they see as easy pickings. I really appreciated the fact, of seeing how Mr. Schwab wasn't having it, and stepped up. It gave me some hope that there are still some people with the "old school" (for lack of a better term) understanding, that we are responsible for ourselves,yes, but people are more united when they feel even a stranger is willing to defend them on principle. Good people aren't violent, and shouldn't be punished because they have had to be. Any "normal" person could understand, and wouldn't be questioning whether they were wrong to defend themselves or if they should be charged for the incident instead of the creep that instigated it. Just a thought, that is probably wishful thinking, especially with our current administration's inability to consider actual justice, instead of weaponized political retaliation depending on what party you support. It's such an insult, watching these people do whatever they damn well please, to destroy us and our way of life so they can benefit financially from us while tearing down our people's morale. It's disgusting, and as far as I'm concerned, the federal government is just another bully, on the grandest scale, who deserves the equivalent "knock out" from all of us. I can only hope people find it in themselves to see that cowardice is just as damaging as unjustified violence because it perpetuates it. Ok, I'm done..sorry for the mini-rant. It's just something I feel strongly about and I couldn't help but be impressed and pleased to see, that some of us still "get it" and haven't submitted to disregard their own voice when it comes to what is actually right, without having to pause to get a group think consensus, or wonder if they have "permission" to act when it matters most. Thanks for your comment. It was my own thoughts exactly, and I couldn't help but share my thoughts with a like minded person. It always feels good to know when it's possible people can share your beliefs, while there's such an effort to divide us all by an influence that is out of order. We desperately need something that unifies us, if we are ever to end the wrongs against our people. Otherwise, what will become of us, but to be bullied in a way we never imagined possible. I think this guy embellished that story quite a bit. He may have hit the guy and I fully support that. The lady thing is BS. He would not be punished in anyway if he tackled a man that whipped a woman on the face. Netflix dumped him for a lot more than that. He was biting dogs, he had like 14 assault charges, and he says the craziest stuff. Those things may work for him with dogs, but teaching his methods to the public is not a good idea. I owned a 160 lbs. Presa Canario for 13 wonderful years! RIP Titus.... I am in no way a trainer of any kind. However, he was with my almost every day up until 14 months. I showed him lots of love. And at every point he began to show aggression, i would correct the behavior immediately. He was a well balanced, sweet, loving and protective animal.

When people started saying you don’t need to dominate your large strong willed dogs I was flabbergasted because I’ve been around dogs my whole life and I know them well. I always thought it was dangerous to push that thought. I know some people said it cause people were abusing their dogs and that’s wrong. Dominance doesn’t mean abuse. Only a weak willed person has to abuse an animal to dominate them.

I don't dominate my dogs. But there are times some corrections that are more gentle then they look can look like domination. Sometimes you do need to gentle make them lie down and go to their side. And make them go calm but not via dominance. And can only be done with a dog that already trusts the hugging and such behavior. My female corso puppy acts all dramatic challenge and goes to a certain point. Firm voice but gently pull her towards the ground then rotate her onto her side. Firm but calm no that's not allowed we don't behave that way and calm down. Once they calm down release and reward the calm behavior. Puppy always goes right back to listening but you can tell she's still frustrated about whatever I'm not willing to let her go get to or say hi to whoever. But it's fairly gentle. But teaches them early on you can still control them even I'd they wanna get silly.

I agree. I use very firm kindness and words and loads of love for my Caucasian and he has turned into a real lover boy! He loves to be loved and caressed and he sleeps alongside me in bed with my two Mastiffs. He can push the boundaries but he is careful not to upset his mum!

This is the best conversation about dogs I have ever heard . A lot of times people brag about their training backgrounds and degrees but these two gentlemen didn’t learn in a school they actually learned from working with real dogs that have problems like RC who worked with a lot of rescues and Kyle Schwab is considered the best dealing with dangerous dogs where others won’t even attempt to work with. I grew up with German shepherds and Rottweilers. I decided recently to get myself a dog and ended up with 2 English Bulldogs. So I’ve had experience with a few breeds….I can say FOR SURE that the Rottweiler was definitely a dominant breed. She was a great dog because we trained her, but she always had to know her spot in the pecking order and would bully other dogs or humans that she felt dominance over. They should never be owned by someone that isn’t aware of their personalities and ready for the challenge. English Bulldogs are the biggest sweethearts lol they’re not gonna protect your house like a rottie but they will definitely keep a smile on your face

I had a Cane and when i got married and my wife had gotten prego she was freaking out that the dog would attack the baby out of jealously. a soon as the bay was born i let Damion( the Cane) smell the bay and see us interact with the baby. as time went on and my daughter learned to walk it was Damion that helped her to learn to walk. He was completely tolerant of my daughter and super protective of her until the day he passed away. We raised him right he knew his boundaries , and was very smart and very mellow except when it came to protecting the family. some folks just cannot handle what it takes to raise a Cane properly like you said.

Thank God I found this channel! I'm a widow living alone in the East Texas woods. I'd been wanting a Kangal for a few years, did tons of research, but I knew I wouldn't be able to offer it the exercise it would need on the 4 acres I live on. I'm older, and no livestock to offer so it could have a job. The size is an issue, as well. So, I did the right thing and didn't get one, damn it. Next, I decided on a Melanois. Much smaller dog. What could go wrong lololol I had to get honest with myself about that one, too. After years of the emotional torture of finding a breed that I could offer a great life, and have a smart and able companion for myself, I will be picking up my Blue Heeler in a couple of weeks. Yeah!!! I think it'll be a fair match for both of us. I'm learning so much from this channel. This interview is definite confirmation that I'm making the right decision.

Though there was always an adult supervising, Clara would herd the kids and their little buddies lololol It was really something to see, and she became such a character, and we all loved her so much. One Christmas, we were making rum balls, and one of my nieces kept slipping them to Clara, who apparently had a taste for them. At the end of the evening, she was passed out on the pallet with the kids, who were lying on the floor watching a movie. I know it's horrible that she was passed out drunk, but it was pure Clara! She came to us as a puppy, and we had 13 wonderful years with her. I don't expect the new pup to be just like Clara, but I am so excited to watch his personality develop. 😊

LGDs are supposed to be stationary most of their lives...and guard an area. Any LGD taking off after some threat when it no longer is a threat is useless. You'd have one wolf luring the dogs away and the others picking apart the unsupervised flock otherwise. Anything else is breeders hypong them up, as if there's Kangals, and the rest of the LGDs. Seen this hype cycle through every "new breed". Been around dogs even in professional capacity to scoff at most of the "legends" behind all these "unique" dogs. And this is coming from someone that could lecture for hours why he had Alaskan Malamutes and wouldn't touch a Husky with a ten-feet pole.

I just sent this video to a friend whose daughter and boyfriend bought a cane Corso puppy. The kids aren't taking care of it and doing nothing with it. I told them that if they don't start working with it, it's going to be trouble, and the end result is the dog will be euthanized. I'm praying that she'll show this video to them and start working with them.

I picked out our latest Goldie at 8 weeks old then was going on holiday and the breeder kept him with his mother for another 2 weeks. The difference in his behaviour between 8 and 11 weeks was significant and I'm certain it's why he's better with food and submitting then every lab and Goldie I've had before. I would definitely go for 10 weeks minimum next time i get a puppy.

I did 12 weeks and I think it was better than 8. Just anecdotal though I don’t really have any data. There was a downside in the form of tail issue. The breeder called me as soon as he noticed it and I got her about 2 days earlier than planned.

We have a 130+ pound olde English bully. We rescued him from the shelter. He was supposedly aggressive out of nowhere. Aledgedly, he bit the previous owner. The story was that he and another dog were in a fight, and she tried to separate them. Just a bit of information about gaige. He was 76 pounds when we brought him home. He was at the shelter for a couple of months. So I can only imagine how he looked when he arrived at the shelter. We have had him going on 4 years now. The shelter said, "He may only make it a few days he could go a few years. He has been nothing but a big ol softy. Even with our great niece and nephew. People, please don't get a dog breed like him unless you are completely ready mentally and financially ready. Powerful breeds, aka working dogs, have to have an alpha present so they don't feel the need to fill the position.

I agree. I'm trying to adopt a 2nd gsd rescue. My first got labelled crazy. Not being worked or handled okay in kennels. She's now okay. The make I'm trying to adopt is being totally ruined at another centre. They say he wants to sleep indoor all day and loves them. I see a shut down kerbed helpless confused animal that needs to get some p.e or he'll get even more issues than they've already given him. I trained my first dog over 52 yr ago. Was taught by a man no letters after his name. Neither have I. Human race has become too sedentary. And the alpha gene can be inside a pint sized dog or a huge dog. But the dog owner has to be fit able to catch it and not couch potato. All the bulky dogs attacking in ukbare were underworld or trained or running without a leader. Ie gone awol. World's gone nuts. Boundaries. Boundaries. Exercise Boundaries.😊well done giving a misread dog a good life.

I live on a 10 acre farm with my 7 Kangals and a Kangal/GP, 20 farms cats and livestock, and have owned dogs for 30 years and LGDs for 12. Based on a lot of trial and error, reading and watching videos by great dog trainers over the last few years, I feel like I'm a competent dog owner and being a strong owner is definitely a requirement for owning powerful dogs. My dogs stay with me inside and out almost all the time, they've pulled me out of depression because they need me every day regardless of how I feel, and my life pretty much revolves around them. I was recently asked by a stranger to help with their mastiff because of something I wrote on FB about the 2 kids in Tennessee who were killed by their family's American Bullys, and I didn't do it because I figured I'm not trained or qualified, but the reality is that I probably have more experience with dominant dogs than a lot of dog owners and might have been able to help them, and I have the space to do it. Hearing that you guys don't have formal training is making me think more that I could do this and open up my farm to be a dog training center.

I think people really need the expertise you have obtained over years leading your packs the knowledge you have can only be gotten with years of experience it can't be taught in a couple years with makes you elite so if it something your thinking of but are hesitant because you feel you lack formal education in handling dogs.dont let that stop you .I know you'll be better than most with these breeds that can be problematic

John, would love to hear more of your experiences with Kangals. Been researching big dogs over a year now and when I finally pul the trigger it will come down to a Kangal, Boerboul or Presa Canario. Is there a channel you are starting?

@@kiashmoney I have a channel but I only have a couple of videos of my dogs on there. As far as my experiences with them, I love them and would take them over either of the other breeds you're considering, but of course I'm biased. But I believe Kangals live longer and have fewer health problems than the other 2 breeds, and also I've found that when my dogs escape from the farm on occasion and go on patrol after all the coyotes we have, they act very friendly to people who stop them and then call me, and even when dog walkers have dogs that bark at them my dogs ignore them and move on, intent on completing their circuit marking over coyote scat to come home, but when they are home on the farm they act complete different and will aggressively confront anyone who comes on the property, human or dogs. When they have a confrontation they don't immediately attack, but face off against the opponent, and I've seen them do this against people and dogs, but they killed a fox and opossom immediately and almost killed a coyote but it was able to slip under the fence. My point is that, maybe because of the much older history of Kangals from evolving with humans and having to work with other dogs as well as living with shepherds and their families and being a livestock guardian, they seem to have very good judgment that keeps them and me out of trouble when one inevitably escapes. They know the difference between guarding their home and going on patrol outside of their territory, and do what I need them to do without causing unnecessary violence or liability.

I had a Cane Corso who passed in 2020 at 11yo. He was the sweetest boy ever. Never threatened anyone... but did corner the cable guy in a corner in the yard when he went in without asking! My Cane Corso just sat quietly in front of him and didn't let him move. I heard the guy calling for someone so I "rescued "him lol Bet he never enters a gated yard unannounced again! Btw, I took him to puppy school and loved him up all his life and returned the kindness and love to everyone he met.

I rescued a Cane Corso when he was about 7YO. He was the sweetest dog I ever met so I was a foster failure and kept him. He was not fond of men telling him what to do. My family was fortunate to share the rest of his life with him. He lived to be 11 also. He got along with all our other dogs, including our little chihuahua who loved him dearly. He loved kids. My own as well as others. I'm sure you miss your big boy as much as we miss our Harley Boy

We lost our elder Cane Corso a week ago. For 12 years and 10 days we were blessed with his unparalleled love and loyalty. Friendly and chilled most of the time, he would immediately become a proper guard when situation required from him to switch on. This was a fascinating interview. Great show! Many years ago before I learned better, I purchased a female Akita from a breeder, to keep my male Chow company while we were at work. I was lucky that my instincts proved right when I picked her from her 7 litter mates. Even at 3 months, they exhibited an aloof, indifferent attitude to my wife and I. Except for Sasha. She wiggled her way over to us like a Labrador or Golden would. We had small children and my Chow had aggression towards other dogs and I knew that he stood no chance against the much larger powerful breed if there were ever a serious fight. She was a dream dog as mild mannered to family and strangers as any dog we have owned. Although she was quite capable, (once attacked at 9 months old by a neighbor’s full grown German Shepard - he t-boned her knocking her to the ground on her back while he straddled her. She reversed him by brute force and placed her teeth around the front of his neck, but did not hurt him. He submitted and she let him up and they got along ever since.), her temperament was exceptional, especially compared to many Akita’s I have observed since then. Coincidently, in preparing the dogs to be around my small children, I envisioned how children might act around a dog (like touching them all over, leaning on them, annoying them while they were eating, etc.), so I spent time imitating those things in the dogs. I would even place my hand in the mouths while they were eating and they would stop chewing and wait for me to remove the hand. Again, I was lucky that I had a few basic instincts.

One of your best podcasts! I wish this podcast could be on every dog channel and every social media channel, so people can understand the importance of fully understanding a breed of a dog before getting one. Too many people love the "idea" of owning a dog, but have no clue about the breed and they end up in shelters. When I purchased my first GSD, I hired a trainer to train me as to how to train my GSD. I remember him telling me that if I don't step up to the plate and do the work consistently, my dog will overpower me. To date, it was the best decision I ever made. He is an amazing dog. It paid off and 4 years later, I adopted a female Mal/GSD to join the pack and implemented the same training techniques (along with Robert's techniques.) Training cannot be emphasized enough and I agree, dogs enhance your life. Mine certainly do and I learn from the daily. They are truly the best companions.

I’ve had my 9 year old in tact male cane corso since he was 6 weeks old, and he has been the most loyal, obedient, friendly dog I have ever seen. I’ve never had a single issue, with unwarranted aggression towards animals or people. That being said, you absolutely have to show them who is in charge from an early age, or they will be a handful when they get bigger. Raise them right, and you will have a great companion and protector if need be.

I agree with what you read in this. I'm sick of seeing idiots with uni degrees trying to turn working intelligent alphaxanimals into soft couch animals. We are all different. Dog breeds are different. And all dogs are predators. When I gear a uni youth who owns gerbils say a high end dog that accidentally killed a rabbit has a hydride so isn't ready to be rehomed I wanna pull my hair out. Said dog now in happy outdoor life recently caught a wild bird I was catching and handed it to my palm with a gentle mouth when I said release. Animals can learn if we can take time to invest in them. Rather than sit reading book after book. But yes theyre predators.and we have to make them want to be beside us.ie be kind fair fun and consistent.

Thank You both for making this video. This is the most honest discussion about dogs, and owners I've ever heard. I've grown up with dogs, poodles, German Shorthair Pointers, Labradors, West Highland Terriers. I am from Los Angeles, like you guys and I had a friend who was an excellent dog trainer, you may know him, Richard Christian. He trained my lLab and me. I have a sister who is in the veterinary business and a girlfriend who does Pit Bull rescue. Whenever she goes out of town I'm the only person she calls to come and stay at her house and house and dog sit. She always has four or five dogs. One or two of her own and another two or three rescues. Some of the rescues are very messed up, mentally and physically. They don't always buddy up to me but after a few days or sometimes a few months they end up trusting me. I love that feeling when they will slowly walk up while I'm on the sofa and I pretend to not pay attention and just watch tv and the dog will slowly climb up on the couch next to me and then relax. They will jump up at my slightest movement but that's okay. One big gray male had been found tied to a post out in the Mojave Desert and left to die. When he was found he was almost dead from starvation and dehydration with bite marks and scratches all over his face and body from fighting of Coyotes and who knows what else. The Vet looked at him and said it isn't worth trying to save this dog, he's going to die anyways. My girlfriend yelled at him saying you save this dog and I will keep him alive. That's what happened. He lived for another five years before having Cancer. He was so scared of people, especially men. It took a couple weeks for him to even be in the same room with me and then he would bark and back pedal every time I would walk in the house. He would hide under a table or outside and peek in through the doggy door at me. I'd feed the dogs and I always tried and eventually was able to hand feed him a snack. I've only had three or four dogs that didn't like me. I love dogs and they love me.

This was an amazing Convo. Animal humane society sold me a Cane Corso/Lab mix as a 'hound mix'. I was a first time dog owner. It took me 3 years to even realize what I was dealing with. It was a very messy first 3 years.

I’ve had something similar happen. I have a Corso, but my other dog is a year and a half old from the shelter. Her paperwork in them said that she was a GS/GP mix. Which is great and what I wanted at the time. Picked her up at three months old and started working immediately on how to take care of her, health, training, activities. You name it then I knew something was terribly wrong after several months of getting nowhere. So I did a DNA test and that was dead on. She’s a border collie mutt with pitbull St. Bernard husky lab and a couple other mixes. I’m not one to usually throw heat at a shelter, but they said that she was one of nine puppies and her mom. Which was the Pyrenees was also at the shelter with her. Which she had 0% of and the German Shepherd and her was only 4.3% of her DNA. So I actually called the shelter up and complain to them after finding that out. She’s a super sweet, loving dog and I’m not gonna get rid of her but she has severe anxiety and is super hyper. Which is difficult for me I’ve never given up on a dog That I’ve had but I almost did with her. Doing that DNA test helped me so much because it explained everything that was going wrong. If you read this. I totally understand and feel your pain. Hope you’re a cane. Corso and lab mix is or ended up being a wonderful dog for you to own. That sounds like a great mix to have.

My dog Teddy .R.I.P. My wife and I had applied to a shelter a year before they got back to us! I was taken back, " hey, we have a puppy for you." Awesome. We were psyched. When we got there they told us Teddy was a " Beagle X". Whatever that is. He had been returned to the shelter once before, and when we got there he was tearing the hell out of the gift shop, lol. I loved him with all of my heart. Teddy was in fact predominantly Rotwieller I believe. He had the markings, the body shape, the behavior. He was a rig and a half. We have often wondered if they didnt want to admit he was the breed he was, and just wanted him out of there. We were the last to be considered. We were blessed. Teddy even fought a bear once who broke into my shed. The bear ripped his chest up and Ted didnt even draw any attention to it. He was just sitting on the porch, in a real defensive on alert posture. I was bringing my little girl to school when I looked back at him and saw he was all torn up. I was floored. Drove him to the animal hospital as quick as I could and got him help. Teddy died on Valentines day two years ago. He had always had trouble being sick and he was kind of small, we think he had not recieved proper nutrition when he was a baby. Ted often needed to have doctors visits for different malady's. This time he didnt make it. I look forward to someday being with him again.

I own 3 lovely Corsos atm. I had 5. 1 passed away and the other (a female 1yo) I rehomed a couple years ago to a friend when I moved out of state. You must 100% be a dominant owner. Dominance training from day one. They WILL challenge you trust me. Lots of socializing from birth and continual training for life. You can’t slip on obedience training. This is a must for their whole life. My dogs are the main attraction everywhere I take them and they love human interaction.

This has been extremely informative. This is a must watch video if you are thinking of getting a molosser type dog. They are not for everyone and you have got to know what you are doing to be a responsible owner. I own a Cane Corso and was so fortunate to dedicate my time to train her everyday for the first half year after she arrived as a puppy. Best dog I’ve ever owned. To get to this kind of relationship and bond it takes total dedication. If you are determined to get a Cane Corso, you have to go all in and put in the time to train and refine.

My son lost his shepard border collie mix from old age when he was 8. It took him a while to want another dog (we got milo from a shelter) he fell in love with this older corso. Huge huge dog. His story was strange but he'd supposedly been in a foster home with small kids -important since I had a 1 year old too. Brought the dog home on trial. 3 days into it and a vet check we decided he wasn't going to be able to stay because he was in so much pain from bad hips when he walked. I couldn't watch him suffer. Lady refused to put him down. She asked if I could keep him till they got back in town from a wedding so 2 days. Said sure then she never showed to pick him up. I offered to bring him then she went on about how she couldn't take him back ATM and looking for a foster. Well that same day the dog was laying in the hallway and my 1 year old walked past him he lunged forward out of his way and bit my child's hand. Emergency room visit no broken bones and just butterfly bandage. Was bloody. The lady called me a liar and wasn't going to pick him up still. I called animal control with our contract. They threatened to charge her with abandonment if she didn't pick him up today. We secured him in my shed until she came and got him. Then proceeded to bash me on fb. She refused to tell people he bit a child and was still advertising he was good with kids of all age. It was disgusting. The dog needed put down. He unprovokingly attacked a child after showing no signs of aggression and was in so much pain In his hips (likely due to his hip pain but who knows)

All dogs are dangerous when not trained properly. Injury and pain is always going to be a problem with dogs. Add young children to the mix and maybe a history you can't be 100% sure of, and you have a disaster waiting to happen. I always had dogs. My children grew up with a huge Staffy and even though he was a great dog with a top-notch temperament, he was never left alone with the children. That was for the children's safety and his. Kids are rough. Thankfully he seemed to be able to withstand the abuse that only children hand out. When the kids got too much for him he would just go and lie down. When he was in his bed the kids were not allowed to go near him because we knew that was him saying "I've had enough for now." It can take a lifetime to learn about your dog. Whilst rescuing and taking older dogs from shelters is something people should consider, we should also consider background, any illnesses, and our own kid's age. Can we trust a toddler not to poke a dog in the eye or to do something else? No, we cannot. There are certain dogs I just would never consider. Others I wouldn't have unless I got them as puppies. I haven't had a dog in several years since the death of my Staffy. I got a cat instead.

You didn't actually mean to say you believed the the owner, did you? Please tell me you would never allow your child to be exposed to a new dog without very close supervision again? And just an FYI, not all vets are as good at diagnosing a condition like that. Best to make sure you have a couple good vets to get that 2nd opinion. Just in case of misdiagnosis and an unnecessary euthanization.

The dog whining in the background is KILLING ME!!! I've walked outside now three times because I thought my Corso(Windsor) was whining. But nope! Laying on his bed like a good boy. To be honest I did so much research on this breed but I didn't know a lot you are saying. Very interesting. I got my Corso at 14 weeks. He is the BEST dog ever but I can what you are talking about. This is a hot take but most people that have personal protection dogs don’t need it and don’t even understand dogs. They usually just have a liability and they think it’s “cool”. Presa x kangal or 93.7 percent wolfdog with mackenzie valley wolf in it the single most human aggressive sub species in it, highest number of human fatalities and known for surpluss kill hunting instincts. Combined with arctic wolf the single least human fearful and curious subspecies. With Akita gsd husky and sled mutt as rhe dog side of the ancestry. The arctic mackenzie crossing goes 2 ways. Either really good and reduces the genetic human ptsd uncanny valley type reaction in the mackenzie valley instincts and makes them more friendly and curious. Or keeps the aggression and removes the fear. Thankfully joda is stable. But like....some potentially "interesting" crossbreds

I fell in love with the idea of having a Malinois. I'm thankful every day that I researched and found voices, including yours, and "settled" for our GSD. There are things I would do differently looking back, but given our lifestyle and family dynamic he was and is as much dog as we needed. I have been training fully command guard dogs and breeding some of the most powerful man stoppers for 49 plus years and none of them have ever bite one single person without being commanded to do so! It has been my experience that the good dogs far far far out number good people! And as far as intelligence the dogs outnumber the intelligence people 100 to 1 ! People are the problems not the K-9s .Coming up on 60 years now I understand Winston church hill more and more,he used to say the more I see of mankind the more I love my dog,he was so right! I spent a lot of my life saving and almost getting killed many many times fighting fires in the Bronx! Now as I watch the people of this country and this world I wish I would have took the beatings and hospitalizations saving dogs! They are more loyal and trustworthy,loving and unselfish then most people!!! I have breed rotties,Boerboels imported the first black Egoli Boerboel from Africa.She like all the dogs I imported from Africa were serious dogs but completely controllable because of how I raised and trained them. My Rottweiler when I put him down at the age of 15 was the oldest of the breed in the states at the time, we did command attack and obstacle and obedience shows for years he was a trained killer that played with kids all the time they could take his bones and lay on top of him and it was never a problem. I have a monstrous black female Corso that is 180 3 year old she is a freak of nature but she is a total teddy bear and I’m not a big man at 5-8 and 180 lbs. ton and body language is the key love and praise and steady constant training and exercise. Dan hagerty and Louise Auger we’re ahead of there time eccentric genius that we’re my teachers and mentors they are forgotten legions of animal behavior, may they rest in peace. I miss Louise and the k-9 world misses her as well and they don’t even know it.

Thats amazing at 15. My Cane Corso just passed 6 months ago at 16 yrs old. Had him since he was 2 months old. Other than puppy shots he was never vaccinated and i fed him only raw meat , mixed veggies and baked sweet potatoes. I had a black mouth curr and black lab that both lived to 15. I now have a 1 yr old Mali on the same diet. Shes the fsstest learner ive ever had. All of them were very protective of my property or vehicle when they were in them.

I really had to train and let him know that he's not the biggest and toughest dog around. I totally agree with your point of bullying the bully, making sure that a dog respects you as a leader.

I listen to 5 minutes of this video everything they are saying is 100% a lie look up the information for yourself. They said they like to go by numbers and people don't like that well let's go by numbers there's 284 American Kennel Club breeders for the Cane Corso in the United States that's not counting the thousands of other people that are not part of the American Kennel Club. But let's do the 284 cane courses can have 8 to 12 puppies Let's go with 10 puppies x 284 = 2,840 puppies a year. Now this is only the puppies the same count how many dogs are in the United States though we just go with the 3000 and two people were killed in 2021 the percentage of that is 0.001% These guys said they want to go by numbers well let's go by numbers 0.0001% of the Cane Corsos that is born in one year by the American Kennel Club kill someone that's not really accurate either because that's not counting the amount of Cane Corsos that live in the United States. In 2021 there was 21 attacks and 2 people killed by a Cane Corso. This dog wasn't bread it was made. The cane corso's history goes back to ancient Rome, and beyond. So like the year 625 BC I've only listened to 5 minutes of the video I'm not watching the rest because the first 5 minutes was nothing but lies. I strongly suggest that you look the information up instead of going by these idiots that are talking

I’m raised with bullmastiff in my mommas kennel and got them my self today. 27 years of experience with them I’ve owned molosses all my life And i live in a big city middle of Copenhagen today with only one. molosses is what my heart beats for. It really hurt me so many people get them for wrong reasons. Those dogs are definitely NOT for everybody

I had a hybrid american bulldog that had mastiff her mom was an american bulldog pure breed and her father was a mastiff I think a bullmastiff and she was great with everyone she was powerfull but since she was a puppy I raised her with discipline and she was great she lived her life these big dogs dont live that long she was gorgeous the whole block was in love with her london was her name unfortunately she passed away during the pandemic and I miss her very much

Bull mastiffs and bulldogs are both great breeds ! They may LOOK big & scary but, I've seen many & honestly never seen one that was aggressive ! Like pitbulls for example, most people expect them to be horrible, aggressive dogs that want to attack everything that moves BUT ! They were specifically created to be 100% non human aggressive and it's HARD to make them aggressive with people..Even if they don't like other animals/dogs, can easily prevent issues/fights as long as you can control the dog!

Dude, my dog was on the cusp of being mauled by two Cane Corso pups at the dog park. The two pups weighed 80 lbs plus. The owners had 0 control of the dogs I had to get in between them and push them in the chest to snap them out of their trance. I stopped letting my dog go on the large dog side after that. He weighs 38 pounds. I keep him with the smaller dogs where he doesn’t bother them at all. Kind of crazy how many stupid people go to dog parks.

There actually should be a medium sized dog run at dog parks because 38 & 40 lb dogs are to small to be with Rottweilers & Corso.

I’ve two GSD’s who are well trained and behaved but my male got bit by 3 different dog parks as young dog, I stopped going going to the parks from he was 6 months, he’s now 2 year old, a big dog and he can’t walk past a black lab, golden retriever and s border collie without getting seriously pissed off, don’t take your dogs to parks, I still do but I go at 5 am when I got the place to myself! Dog parks can ruin your dog!

i had 2 great pyrenees jump on my pit at a dog park. 5'1 college blonde that brought them didnt do anything to help, it was just me on my knees in between 3 BIG DOGS fighting. not fun

I had a huge issue with biting bc I got her at 5 weeks. She’s the most dominate dog I’ve ever owned we had a rough start. She challenged me a lot and for the first to 3 years she we battled. She taught me a lot. Once found out how to handle her. She still gets mouthy when we play till this day but not not hard or bad at all.

Oh man. I watched my friends two cané corsos a few days and had no idea how dangerous they were. I’m five foot 115lbs and I stayed at the house even in the owners bed sleeping with the dogs. These two dogs are WAY bigger than me. I’ve always felt they like me but I would stand no chance lol.

Those dogs were socially trained and knew you. This was about people who unfortunately don't know how to socialize these dominant breeds. It is even discussing the drive of various other breeds. Hence they spoke on Jack Russells, Shar Pai, Shepherds , etc. behavior

Family dog growing up was a 140lb bandogge… he was amazing animal and incredibly smart and lazy. He could understand every word and even read facial expressions. He was only dog aggressive with bull breeds and was wary of people we were wary of. RIP Dex!!!!

I loved this. So many people I know never understood when I fell in love with pitbulls. And how I was able to get her to be so nice. She is that dog I will chase for the rest of my life. And I'm in wholehearted agreement that it's a super duper rare case of it being the dog, it's always the owner. I had convinced Angel I was mom or alpha or whatever that she listened to other people when I wasn't around but if I was, she waited for me to nod before she'd do it. Dogs like that don't just happen. It takes patience, consistency, time, a lot of love and you and your dog being able to read each other.

Twice I have previously stopped attacks on my dogs and had taken a bite for stopping one attack. Although all the adult dogs I've taken on had some form of behavioural issues, I've always naturally balanced trained - not one bite history whilst in my care. My newest youngest member joined us at 5mths old, sadly significantly neglected by her first owner. Now at 10mths, she's a healthy 24kg, beautiful temperament, sociable, adores other dogs, cats and people, never mouths, great recall & basic commands (fast learner), loves snuggling up on my bed. So far I have nailed it training her. As always thank you Robert ~ Kyle, very insightful discussion !

Great video Robert, good to hear yours and Kyle's perspective and expertise, I wish more people would watch before deciding on what dog they want and why and also what effort needs to go in training to be a responsible dog owner. I've had Rotties but now a Dogo Argentino, most loving/friendly dog ever, even before he was neutered. But like you guys discussed, they need the to be trained, socialized, etc and strong owner.

I trained my 170 pound Corso male off leash from 7 weeks. He listens like a robot to me but I'm in a wheelchair ♿️ so he does guard me at all times. You can't just run up on me but he's always on command. Will stop in a heartbeat to serve me

I’ve wanted a Corso for so long. I’m aware of the work involved and have passed 2 opportunities so far because I didn’t feel my lifestyle was right. I have a 10 year old daughter and within the first 3 minutes of this podcast I decide- I think I’ll wait till my daughter has become an adult. It’s too much to risk. Nothing more valuable than human life.

I'm like you in that I've wanted and been in love with the Corso for so long, but my wife is a softy and I just don't want the risk of the dog turning on her. I know the dog would be completely under my control but I work 12 hour shifts and sometimes longer. I don't think it's fair to have my wife alone with the dog that long.. it would be dangerous.

I stumbled on this video as a recommendation and I’m glad I did. You guys are great. I worked with security dogs. It was interesting training them, making them soft enough to be good with handlers but hard enough to flip that switch at an attacker. I mostly handled this stumpy tail cattle dog. He was a lovely boy, but I had him crush a guys wrist when he pulled a short katana from his car swinging it at someone. My dad has a huge bull mastiff that thinks he’s a lap dog, totally safe with cats, yappy dogs etc. I’ve been around jaguars and adult tigers, yet I always get a sense of the power behind a corso like you said.

frenchies are simple. long straight back. long legged. no flat face. i have a fawn/blue frenchie and she's perfect for breeding naturally with no problems providing i mix her with the right male. my merl frenchie on the other hand is short legged and shorter backed nd but her face isn't flat like the other one so she's likely to need a c section. ivy my fawn/blue just needs love and support and she flies through it but because their snouts ain't flat when Ivy takes a break their snout have peirced the walls and are on te outside... most need a C section due to suffocation due to snouts and travel length. i will see if i can upload a picture of Ivy as my DP

Fascinating conversation. You guys know your dogs. I have a mastiff/rottie and an Anatolian that live with me. Ninety nine percent of the time they are good together. I watch them like a hawk and have them on a structured routine. But on rare occasions things go sideways. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Dominant alpha dogs are the best dogs because they are confident dogs. A confident dog is less likely to bite someone. The timid dog is more likely to bite someone. Dominant dogs just need to be socialized well starting as a puppy.

They need to be trained professionally with an expert on those breeds. I have a 7 months Dutch Shepherd with high drive and neurotic. My dog behaves well because I was able to spend a huge amount of money to get him where he is now.

​@@jennysantiago2624this is why Malinois and Dutch Shepherd are not ideal for me. The neuroticism is just too high. In addition, unless they are out crossed, they're too small as well which I don't like. But most of the working Dutch and Malinois are out crossed for size and bigger heads as well as other traits. I only prefer the ones that have had recent out crossing with working German Shepherd a little bit more stability in temperament is preferred
