Ran 2.1 Thunderburts and punctured both front and rear and dnf'd. Ridden WTB Nano's since with a few wins and good results. They are light, grip well in corners and handle mud. Also tried the Pathfinder Pros but would only ride one on the rear with a WTB Nano on the front for superior grip and cornering.

@@ArteUltra1195 believe me, 700c fits. 3 mm gap to Sram Wide FD and 4 mm gap to frame, so it's as tight as you want it to be 😉. Wheels are Campa Levante 25mm id. Tire is 53mm wide at knobs and 55 mm on the cheeks.

I squeezed 2.2 Race Kings onto my aluminum Salsa Journeyer (had to trim the hairs though)! Best frameset for the price imo. But I get that most people want carbon.

WTB venture is actually pretty fast if it is insanely muddy. It has so much surface area and some weird dynamic thing happens in the mud and its like 150w faster through peanut butter.

how much more do sus forks and light mtn bike tires weigh, if road bikes can easily get down to 13-14bls add the extra weight of sus forks and larger tires, what else weighs more on a mtn bike vs road bike? carbon straight bars and the stem will be lighter on a mtn bike.

Aspen ST don't seem to be the tire of choice... @Bonk Bros: RaceSport is always Black Chilli Compound. RaceSport is the lighter casing in opposite to Protection. Conti used to have a 2.0 RaceKing with Black Chilli Compound in the light RaceSport version.
