Love your pod cast. Spot on. And honestly lately I am not enjoying trialing lately. My dogs did well, not Q wise, but I was able to take away some patterns that were successful and a pattern that wasn’t. Had a wonderful judge who offered some incredible insite and training suggestions that I had never thought of. Very happy about this take away. What I am not so happy about is the over all sportsmanship that I see trending. This insite is both with people who did better and are so over the top about how well they did, they in a way down play, diminish someone else and on the converse side, people who did not do well also diminish everyone else’s achievement. Just poor sportsmanship. I am not enjoying this trend. And don’t know how to help move it in a better direction. I did manage to befriend another competitor who loved chatting about the “science” of scent work and all the movement of odors, complexity, fun search games and set ups. Talks about why some dogs Qed others did not, simply do to movement of odor and the dogs searching patterns in that given search, just fun talks. competitors who just enjoyed the nose work, and enjoyed hanging out with others who enjoyed nose work. Not so serious I so appreciate this pod cast and think over all we could do better as trainers of our dogs, and competitors in the sport to have better sportsmanship. I also volunteered for lower levels, novice folks and tried to encourage and show good sportsmanship behaviors. Never enough volunteers. Thank you for shinning a light that needs it.. Ty Diane
