Welcome back to Sea to Sea Adventures, this time back to San Diego Bay in Southern California!
In this episode we continue expanding our boating experience by getting past the protected waters of San Diego Bay and around Point Loma.
Going through the kelp beds of Point Loma we run over some kelp and slows us down, but we can’t be kept down for long.

We are a young family of 5 exploring the waters of Southern California. We started with a 1997 MacGregor 26x, replaced the 23 year old 2-stroke with a 2020 Mercury 20HP fuel injected 4-stroke, then decided to cruise in comfort in a 2001 Bayliner 2655.

You are one of the world's most patient men. Your wife and kids are awesome. But you my man are " Father of the year". I am 64 years old. I have been running the Bayliner 2355 for 20+ years. People at the marina talk under their breath about those cheap Bayliners. My boats on the water from April to Dec here in Hampton VA. I just went offshore fishing Sat. 118miles round trip. I changed out the small tank years ago and replaced it with a 92gallon. I love my little Bayliner. Thanks for the video

I've got the same boat, and my seats used to look like that. SEM makes a paint for them that makes them look brand new. "Carver White" is the perfect match.

Great job docking captain! Mid cleat lines are my go to every time when docking. And nice job figuring out the fouled prop! Glad you guys continued to enjoy the day after that minor mishap! :)

Thanks! Every time we’ve taken it out we’ve been learning something new. Next time we’re out I’m going to have the big kids put out the anchor.

Did you end up finding a boat? I like that ours is the biggest thing we can legally trailer. No slip fees.

What a cool adventure! I have a 2655 year 1996. I was wondering how much RPM do you need to do 20 knots? I've repowered my boat recently and I need to do 3800 RPM to get 20 knots speed.

Thanks! That’s really close to what we do. We have a 22P and 3500 rpm = 20kts, 4000 = 25kts. The first 20 hours of our new engines life, it lived at 3.5, 4 and 4.5 k rpms. Thanks for watching!!

This is my first big-ish boat, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. I’m mostly concerned about the mechanical aspect of it. It has the same Mercruiser that is in the other boats. I haven’t had any electrical issues. I’ve had two, above the waterline through hulls break (plastic) and were easily replaced. I could spend $20k more for another name and still have the same power plant and other little things break here or there. But now, this boat lives on a trailer in my drive and it’s not neglected. It fits my family now, we’re thinking in the future of a 45/55’ trawler with separate rooms for the kids. I take it you’re looking for a boat then? What do you want to do? We just wanted to be able to take a couple overnights and take a toilet with us when we traveled. 🤣
