Thanks Robert! This a very helpful look at the pitcher fatigue system that you use. Plus it a simple and good system!

Thanks for watching, Kent! I think it works well for the Basic game.

Good topic! It would be interesting to read about other things for the Basic Strat - when to hold a player on base, when to steal a base, when to try an extra base, when to play Infield In, etc.

Thanks for watching! You make some great points!

This looks interesting enough for me to try it for a full replay, most likely 1972 since there are now more players per team in the updated SADV set than in the original set, which I also have. Just wondering, have you completed any seasons and how did the number of complete games compare, please? I'm more likely to just pull the pitcher once he fatigues. One more thing, if we are only using column 5 for the X chart, what do you switch the X results to on the pitcher's cards in columns 4 & 6?

Thanks for watching and the comment. No, I have not completed any full seasons, at least not in a long long time. I'm using an old chart from the seventies which only goes as high as 4 on the "x" checks. I misspoke when I said column 5. Sorry about that! That being said, if a pitcher becomes fatigued, all defensive x-checks are read from column 4, regardless of the defender's rating.

@@MaxCandD Thank you for the quick response. I have two copies of the basic X chart, one being the original one that I received with the game back in 1970. That one is, however, in tough shape. My first SOM set was a 6-team selector set from teams in 1969, which are one sided. The 1971 season set was the first set to have an advanced side.

That's some great information. I didn't start playing until 1978.

Hi Robert....my stratomatic king of the hill tournament spans teams from the early 1900s through the 1970s. I wouldnt know what period of time to use regarding the chart you were reading from. I never used any pitcher fatigue because the original basic game never included it. Thanks Robert....

You're welcome Jack. Since your teams span such a long period, you might have to use several eras. Let me know what you decide.

Hi Robert...... I looked up the article that you referred to and I see that the different seasons are broken down by the author and use different points of endurance. I'm wondering with my King of the Hill tournament that I'm going to start, when a team like the 1906 White Sox would be playing the 1970 Baltimore Orioles, would I be using the points of endurance for the season of 1906 for the White Sox and 1970 for the Orioles or would I use a combination of an average for both of the pitchers for those teams? I'm really not sure. Because I think the article is really meant for using seasons and not necessarily teams through different time periods. So if Eddie cicotte pitches for the White Sox against Mike Cuellar.... would Eddie ciccote have a rating of 14 in the same game that Mike cuellar would have an 11? Thanks Robert.....

@@jackbrooks2008 I'm not Robert but I would use the same endurance numbers for the year of the pitcher that is pitching. This is because there are probably not that many pitchers on a team in a season like 1906 as there are for teams from 1970. I'm replaying the 1908 season with another game and seeing maybe 6 or 7 pitchers active for teams.
