To be selected for England isn't like football ,,, you ain't just being selected for angling ability you are being selected to represent England as part of the club of selected anglers ,,, once selected it was already decided you was good enough from what youd achieved already... the pinnacle for an English match fisherman is to be selected for the squad,,, the pinnacle for the team is to win World or European titles .

Home pierrepoint should be made the national venue for England and a national academy should be erected on site ... it is a national disgrace that the greatest nation in match fishing haven't even got a venue to stage an international event ,, this needs to be changed by petition and coordinated persuasion... I live in Brum but I'd love to travel to Nottingham one day to watch a world or European championship.
