Magnus,,,I feel your pain and pleasure. It is very rarely that I can get good UK beer out here in the Land of The Rising Cost of Living. But as I have written before, we can sometimes get Wychwood beers at an import offie near my extremely better halfs parents house. I have had an awful week, I have worked 13 hour days every day this week, educating the sons, daughters , company employees and students of the Japanese Empire,,,Last night, I got home from teaching in a small city an hour or so from here,,,sweaty, hot, thirsty and exhausted.... She had visited her parents and on the way home picked me up 3 bottles of Hobgoblin - ah I love it - and a Black Wych - had it before and wasnt overly keen - but I was never going to complain to her!!! I had one with my dinner last night and now set for the rugby tomorrow!!!! Not sure if my nerves can cope,,,,both Wales and Japan are playing!! As always loving your videos,,,,Thank you

I wonder what Captain Bligh would think of all these gadgets. Puts their accomplishments into perspective, doesn't it? I love (and depend on) our modern world but sometimes I wonder what we have given up (or lost) for it.

Were you talking about Theakston's Old Peculiar? I used to serve that in an old pub just outside London in the 1990s. It was treated with great respect and for most, approached with caution!

22:40 ish onward, you opening that beer, and you LISTENED to it... it reminded me of my life back in 1990, working in Libya, brewing my own beer... bottling it... then opening it... did it fsshh? yes, good beer, or no, flat shit.... but still drinkable in the Libyan desert where nothing else is available :( edit: lol yes, anticippointment, that was my Libya beer brewing experience, in general very dissappointing experience, but nothing else available... Please understand, getting ingredients suitable for brewing in Libya was hard, I had to import some things, but the malt.... that was a malt sugar for kiddies feed... bottles.... that was the hardest thing, driving through the desert you would see a glint, drive towards it, and see something not cappable... very much anticippointment

I seem to remember that the brewery Shepherd Neame also make a beer called 'Spitfire Ale' which they describe very humorously as The Bottle of Britain. You should definitely try that one if you can find it mate, it's an excellent beer. Thanks for a great video.

I heard of it in my time in the UK, another old favorite is Morlands Old Speckled Hen, named after a race pedigree sports car, MG or Morgan if I recall, there are some great beers/ales/ bitters in the UK. I miss them so much, and a proper job local pub

Back in the day, the nearest pub to the barracks I was in was a Shepherd and Neme - their bitter was terrible we used to call it sheep dip. First night out I had one pint then left for the next nearest pub, was back within the hour the next pub was a Badger Ales pub - their bitter was even worse. Though to be fair both breweries have always had some really good specialty beers. Finished up cutting it with a bottle of Mann's. Thank God for the selections we have today lol. Fair winds:)
