My strategy in almost any city is to find a good hotel and get the person working the desk to call me a taxi. I usually give them whatever the local equivalent of $5 is and the clerk/concierge is happy to do it. We were walking and walking in Rome one day - sort of lost - and I told my husband, "look for a nice hotel." So that what we did and a legit taxi showed up within minutes. Cartagena is a great place to take the Hop-On-Hop-Off .... it's great transportation around that and many cities and you can get off where you want and get back on. We took a ship excursion of a walk around the old city, to a chocolate factory and the Gold Museum. It was pretty good ... but HOT.

I had to look it up because it was making me crazy: "Stephen Schwartz wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway musical Wicked." We leave at the beginning of January for a 32-day cruise through the Panama Canal ... L.A. to Miami and then back to L.A. with a few different ports.
