UPDATE! We went out for a joy ride on a friends catamaran who also has Starlink. It worked the entire time while underway at about 5 knots.. Fantastic! I have read however that Starlink is set to shutdown if you're in motion beyond 5 knots... I'm no Starlink expert here, I just wanted to let you know what worked for us yesterday.

Contemplating getting a starlink mini. Thanks for this advice. We lived in Portland (Hillsboro) for 2.5 years. Our middle son was born there.

I’m thinking about installing one in my boat, but I’m in doubt about how the actuators work. Does your antenna keep realigning as the boat moves, even at anchor? Did you disabled the motors? I’m abroad and here they still sell the gen 2 antenna. Don’t know if this is the best option (due to the presence of the motors) or if it’s better to wait for the gen 3 antenna.

We're still using our original "residential" starlink and it continues to work wonderfully. No, we have not disabled the motor and yes, it realigns on the move and at anchor.

Hi there 😃👋🏻 Loving your videos! Keep ‘em commin! We own and operate a sailing charter business in the Corpus Christi/Port Aransas, TX area. My boyfriend, who captains our boats has experienced tons of amazing adventures sailing the world. I’m so jealous of him! 😂 I am an engineer by trade working remotely from home. We have the crazy idea of planning an extended sailing adventure after our next season wraps up and are researching whether or not it is possible for us to hop from place to place with me being able to work remotely while we are anchored. I have been looking into the RV version of the starlink and am curious as to others experiences with the systems functionality and if it will function well offshore and to what range from land. Would love any advice you would be willing to share 😊

Hi Vanessa🤗 Thanks so much! I’d be happy to fill you in on Starlink - just the other day we cruised out of La Paz about 10 nm and had it running the entire time. It worked perfect! I did notice one moment of no internet, I think it was just looking for a new satellite. Otherwise, if all you need is Wi-Fi to work, than you’re all set with Starlink! It does require 110v AC so you’ll need an inverter or generator to run it if you’re not plugged into shore power. Good luck! It’s really quite the life!🥰

That was then, and yes, crazy right!? It was more geared towards commercial use though. Most boaters today use RV version. FYI They've now completely restructured their pricing...
