Well....to be fair, the way she bit into it, it did seem like it was really chewy which implies that he may have overcooked it. I think what might have helped is if he used a lot more oil so that the squid rings were deep fried. That way he wouldn't have to flip them thus reducing the cooking time by half or even less.

Hey man! Long time fan! Try using a "scaler" bag for your squid next time. Just place your squid in the bag (just take the heads off, leave guts, skin, everything else on) and then tie the bag off at the back of your boat, so that the bag stays in the "wash". Squeaky clean squid every time and it takes 5-10 minutes.
