Another very interesting video. Yes, you have come a long way since we first started following you. As for the crew, I would love to take part. I have sailed monohulls, cats, and a variety of power boats and yachts, and I have lived on them as well. However, I am at the age limit, so I will not be fit enough to join you in person, but rather, I will be following your adventures. Love seeing the steps you are going through building this beauty as I have had the pleasure of building some of my boats.

Astonishing Pete... you have single handedly elevated this 'upgrade' project of yours from a polynesian inspired bamboo beach build into an historic self-sufficent, self-powered aluminium, ocean shredding superyacht... fekin astonishing... to put it mildly! Way outta my ocean going league unfortunately... would be a lifetimes ambition to sneak onto a round the world sailing 'spaceship' like yours but reality bites hard! I like most others will have to be content on watching a 'top geezer' spearo achieve his dreams instead... profound & heartfelt support from me skipper... crack on Plucky! Nice going Pete. When those big pieces of skin go on it quickly starts looking like a boat rather than a giant meccano kit. Just looking and comparing the design seems a lighter build than the other Al cat builds and designs im following. So she should pour on in lighter airs. The french and Germans are very fond of spraying recycled cork grains onto the insidebof their metal hulled boats.. notbonly does it insulate and prevent condesation it insulates electrically and against noise. The other plus is its lightband they even use it as sea deck .. Scandinavian electric powerboat use it to go with there Flax and carbon hulls as its kind on the feat and keeps the heat off the metal and inside in the colder climbs. It also doesnt burn like plastics. A manual Whale pumped head .. should keep things civil safe and reliable, but you will need a black tank for a lot of coastal waters.

Hi Peter, I was wondering why you went for a daggerboard cassette setup ? The main issue with these is that if you strike a foreign object like a log the daggerboard can jam into the cassette and breach the hull. The other option would be a fold up daggerboard with a horizontal cassette. These are setup with a sacrificial block that snaps under impact and allows the daggerboard to stow automatically if you strike something. Probably too late to revise the design but it would be safer.

Exceptionable human, nah, doah, when I have to, will not jump in the water with sharks. 65 year old weight lifter, probably strongest one on the boat but that won't cut it. Have fun! Building a lithium batter bank as we speak for the RV. Sailing within 5 years If I keep healthy and live long enough. Sailing just Bahama's and south Florida one day. Awesome boat you're building.

Men, I have been watching KZbin videos, following lots of channels regularly and I am not sure why, but I was worried about you, because you haven't posted a video for more than 10 days. I was never worried about anyone before. It might be that you have recently been in a hospital......I don't know. The funny thing is that in the meantime, other sailing channels, all of the sudden are getting into aluminum catamarans. SV Delos just posted a video saying that they're going to build an aluminum cat, another channel, (don't remember who) are buying an aluminum cat....it looks like you started what now seems to be a trend. Anyway, I am glad you are back and can't wait to see the next one......By the way, when you first announced the Elcano Challenge your ex-crew girl from Switzerland seemed to be part of it. Is she still on, or what happened?

Plukky I wondered what you have been up to as you usually post a video weekly. I wish I could join your crew. I know you said to post a video which I have never done but I did start driving a boat at the ripe old age of 5. 😂. When I was 9, I was skilled enough to be allowed to operate a 3 horsepower outboard boat by myself, I earned my Senior Live Saving License at 15 years old, I became a registered life guard. I have saved 4 people from drowning, not bragging just doing what GOD put me in the position to do. I have owned a lot of fresh water boats but never an ocean vessel. I exercise daily. 😎✌️

Another enjoyable build video. Not only will it be great to follow along watching the Elcano Challenge as it kicks off but it’ll also be interesting to see how the Odisea 48 compares to some alternative heavier expedition type aluminum catamarans also currently being built, or about to be built (Barefoot Doctor’s Portofino and Sailing Nahoa/SV Delos de Villiers designed boat). I’d hazard a guess and suggest the Odisea should produce better regen numbers. Certainly interesting to see how a number of very popular sailing channels with very experienced sailors are opting for aluminium. :o)

Make sure you run Cat6 for POE (power over ethernet) cameras everywhere you want to monitor anything on the boat (major components, rear-facing, front-facing etc) plan it NOW, and make sure you can replace it easily if it gets corroded. POE cameras are the best. At some point you may want to have one broadest LIVE 24/7 "FreedomCam"

I know they have not finished building the Frame as yet. But it seem like there are several areas where the Weld is not completed properly, and I hope they are detailed about completing those welds before the major parts of the boat are put in. I also think you should have gone for the 68 Foot instead of this 42, for that would have provided you more stability in rough seas. Robert(Ras).
