@@KittyGrizGrizI live in a suburb near Chicago and many years ago back in the 80s I was down at the checkerboard lounge in Chicago during the week to see some blues . There was only about 20 people in the joint and suddenly Johnny Winter and his Entourage walked in because he was in town and Buddy Guy had invited him because it was buddy's club. They sat at the front table and a little later Johnny got up and sat in with the band for about an hour and half. He blew the roof off the joint. Then a couple of months later I saw him at the Aragon ballroom with Albert Collins and Roy Buchanan and once again he blew the roof off the joint. He was one amazing guitar player. All those Texas boys are.😅

"Twenty two years in a rock and roll band" was quite a feat in 1973. 24:43 I love guitars that are just slabs of mahogany with single coil pickups. Johnny Winter's Firebird is a neck-through plank of mahogany with mini-humbuckers. Top Of The City rocks. (:

I think he played the same instrument when he appeared with Derek Trucks at a Crossroads concert. He did Highway 61. I met Derek after a concert in Edmonton Alberta. Derek told me he had just met Johnny that day and they had not practiced together. He just started off and the rest of the band just followed Johnny's lead. The performance was seamless. You would never know they had not played prior to that day. It was magic!!!

I was in 5th or 6th grade when ‘Brother Louie’ was a hit. At the time the county I was living in began a bussing program to desegregate the schools. Our elementary music teacher used ‘Brother Louie’ to teach us 10 year olds love and tolerance. I don’t remember her name but she was a beautiful hopeful young lady with a heart for us boys and girls, showing the spirit of optimism that still lingered in the air. I hope she is still alive (she has to be in her 70s now-only 12-15 years older!!?)and per chance loves music enough to watch this video and read this note. Thank you for shaping this boys mind in the right direction.

Wish I’d seen him perform live, he plays an awesome slideee guitar whew! 😅 ❤ 🎸❤️ “Johnny Winter used a lightweight chrome guitar slide which he wore on his fourth finger. This gave his tone a sharp and aggressive bite, and allowed him to execute licks and solos at speed. Winter has a signature slide “- the Johnny Winter Texas Slide.”

The first two songs took on a whole new life as Jose and Johnny put a whole new spin on them, that amount of talent could make the Burger King jingle a #1 hit. The Staples were smooth as buttermilk. I read the name, "Savoy Brown in Classic Rock magazine, but the earlier episode, and their appearance here confirmed the hype. I remember Brother Louie from when I was a kid, it is a song ahead of its time. Tower of Power so professional, so talented. Every week becomes my favorite episode upon viewing.
