Hey there!
here's a new timelapse of rendering Metals via a classroom demo session.
apologies for the odd lag in the capture- I captured this in a school lab computer; it resulted in a frame delay especially in the brush captures.
i've used to find painting shiny metals really challenging when i was learning digital painting. So hopefully this timelapse will help some of you out there.

I actually better if you use only one layer, in fact it's easier and faster. For now on try it out... Of coarse you DO have to make a mask that keeps the shape of your object.

rotcivsi From what I've seen, one layer is good for painting and realism. Multiple is good for clean lines and cartoon/anime stuff.

First off, loved every bit of this. The music was perfect for it as well. As someone with pretty much no artistic talent, where would you recommend I start as someone who wants to get into being able to create my own digital art? It's been a dream of mine to be able to do something like this, to be able to take my imagination and put it into visual form. I know it takes tons of practice, but I'm just not sure where I should be starting to learn this particular way of making art. Thanks anyway and I look forward to watching more
@dogdjinn
@dogdjinn 4 жыл бұрын
I didn't make this video but I am a digital artist. I recommend starting with a drawing tablet in the $50 range (research well before choosing). Find the program you want to draw in. I use Krita, it's free and pretty good. Get acquainted with the program with tutorials. If you've never drawn before, I'm sure you can find starter tutorials on youtube. Now comes good practice. If you draw with bad practice, you'll advance a lot slower than you could and it'll be frustrating. learn fundamentals first. always learn with reference. Learn by copying (studying) art you want to draw like. Make it a point to try not to repeat mistakes. Know how you want to draw, because when you try and can't do it, you'll know what you lack, and can focus on it. An example of bad practice is trying to draw bodies through trial and error with no reference or anatomy fundamentals. I also know someone who wants to draw but refuses to do rough sketches, and has built no sense for shapes in 3D space because of it. All it took for me to improve rapidly from never having drawn before was to practice with reference.
@jaroldsng
@jaroldsng 4 жыл бұрын
hey there @Ushio, you're welcome- there's no better advice than to just start drawing. each person's learning capability is different- so your learning process would be as well. i've had friends who learnt really quickly early on by copying paintings, doing master studies. some improved alot by just randomly sketching object they found in their home. some excelled in a proper academic environment- with colleagues and lecturers pushing them. so i would say you'll never really know till you try!
