I feel so foolish in how easy these two grasp and are able to teach things. I've wrestled and studied and looked for specific assistance from talks and you both plainly and clearly lay it out. Not to say everything is revealed but you give a solid starting point of understanding. I can't wait for this journey through Revelations!

I wouldn't feel foolish, these two have spent their lives studying the scriptures professionally. I just really enjoy learning all the stuff that I haven't had the chance to learn.

Bryce and Mike, please make the podcast longer. Those other folks at Follow Him are doing two hours, and I know that you all have got it all up there. I'm listening while I drive or do dishes or fold the laundry. One time on a road trip that took about 6 hours I did a marathon with you guys, I'm saying "can I have some more please"😂

We did a bunch of episodes so it’ll add up to a bit of time. We will probably put them out every day for the next couple of weeks.

I also did a couple of marathons listening to your Revelations discussions while traveling to Utah to Education Week a couple of years ago. They were wonderfully informative and enlightening. I was hoping you would post them again so we can all be refreshed in our studies. Thanks y'all!!!

@@talkingscriptureI for one like the shorter formats. 20-30 minutes works well for me.

Please clarify what you meant to say at 1:59. “The auto generated text says “parting their sea”. My wife and I listened to it several times, and it almost sounds like you said “parting the Red Sea”, but it is slurred and we cannot tell. Either one makes no sense in any context I can imagine from 1 Nephi 13:12. That being said, I love your approach to the study of the scriptures through Come Follow Me for many reasons. You don’t interrupt each other mid sentence or idea. You add so much clarity by cross-referencing many scriptures from the available texts. The length of your podcasts is just right. And, we don’t have to look at your faces for 2 or 3 hours each week (no offense intended - I mean it to be funny). :)

This is not meant as a criticism but I feel it's important for me to say this. At 10:13 you mention God's book. You read right from the scriptures what is contained in that book. But then you go on to assume that we each have a chapter in that book which is a beautiful thought but I think it's a little dangerous to go into those types of assumptions. Some people may listen to your podcast, miss the word assumption and believe that that is is what our church teaches. I know this is your podcast and you're expressing your opinions but it worries me how people can turn opinions into things about our church that aren't true.

What do you mean by “aren’t true“? You realize, of course, that there is no actual book for anyone to go look in and see what’s really there, right? All of these things are symbolic. I hope it’s OK if I push back a little bit, because I have a major concern about your comment. I think this is the very problem with symbolism. People are so afraid to compare it to their individual lives or a specific circumstance, because it might not be “true;” it might not be the “right answer.“ Therefore we don’t use symbols in our teachings. We don’t talk about them in sacrament meeting or in gospel doctrine classes or even in family home evening. And we’ve completely lost the power of the symbol. If there is a literal interpretation of a symbol the Lord will give it to us. But the power of symbols is that they apply to so many different circumstances and we are not only free, but we have the responsibility, to apply those symbols in our individual lives. That’s why Nephi pled with us to “liken“ the Scriptures. I would plead with everybody to not be so concerned about a literal interpretation that we criticize people who are applying a scripture, in a very legitimate way, to one particular circumstance, or another. I applied a symbol in a way that was very much in harmony with the Lords description of that symbol, and also very much in harmony with all that we know about Heavenly Father’s involvement in our individual lives, and your main concern was: “oh, no… People might think that’s literal when it’s not.” Let’s encourage people talking about how symbols apply in their life. We need to do it more and more often. Rather than scaring people because their application might not be the “right one.”
