Wonderful Brother Bryce! There’s a primary song called “As I Walk With Jesus”. As I walk with Jesus To my home above, He will bless me with His Spirit And fill me with His love. Change my heart forever And help me clearly see As I walk with Jesus He will walk with me. Thank you for filling my 3rd hour reservoir! Loved this. Amen.

Thank you 🙏 I’ve watched all of your atonement videos and I just love the way you teach and every time I watch you I feel the Holy Spirit testify that this is truth. Question: do you have a video on fasting? If not can you make one. I’ve never comprehended the need of it in my life. But if it will bring me and my family closer to Christ then I want to understand it and do it.

I'm a little confused. Because if there is no checklist for repentance, then why do young people feel that they have to go talk to the bishop for certain mistakes? And why does the bishop have them stop taking the sacrament for a couple of weeks or have them read a book and give him a book report or some similar thing, and then the person is declared righteous again? Why can't our young people just turn again to the Lord without the bishop?

That has to do with membership in the church. There is a standard you have to meet for membership. When you came in, you had an interview to make sure your life was above that standard. Any time your life dips below that standard, you need to reconcile with a representative of the church to see if you can still maintain your membership. That’s why not just young people, but all people whose life dips below that standard need to talk to their bishop. That has to do with membership in the church. That forgiveness is forgiveness on behalf of the church in order to maintain your membership. The problem is that that becomes seen as the essence of repentance. Maintaining my membership in the church is very important. But if I forget that repentance for justification is about my relationship with the Savior, I am missing something much higher. Repenting for major mistakes that threaten my membership in the church should not be very frequent. But repenting for things that I did today that pulled me away from the Savior is a daily activity. Far more common than going to confess to my bishop. That should be seen as the standard of repentance. I believe that if we focus on the daily acts of repentance that restore that relationship with the Savior, our need for confessing to the bishop will dramatically diminish.

Once again, a wonderful lesson! I just read 3 Nephi and I think these scriptures are perfect: 3 Nephi 9:13 - will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you? 3 Nephi 9:20- offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit. 3 Nephi 10:6 - repent and return unto me with full purpose of heart.

Stawanda, I had two thoughts. If the broken relationship was just between you and the Lord, then it's not anyone else's business. But if the broken relationship with the Lord also broke other relationships in your life, then that can be especially difficult for the person ( or persons) involved. I think that restitution, wherever possible, is vital. And, it takes time for people to trust that they can again put their faith in someone who has broken trust. So it requires being newly trustworthy again and again and again until the fear in their hearts is gone. Secondly, maybe you can get the people in your life to watch the wonderful talk " Remember Lot's wife " by Elder Holland. He makes a heartfelt plea to everyone to LET PEOPLE REPENT and change and grow. It's beautiful. 😊

Sometimes you need to let the people you hurt cry out to you about what you did. And you need to let compassion take over and let them be angry with you. Be patient and serve them even if they don’t know you are serving them. Always pray for them…and you! Keep all names on the rolls of the Temple. Live the Gospel. And don’t give up on them or on yourself. Some things take time.

I love this way of looking at justification. I had several thoughts on how this happens. I believe soldiers and others who give their lives for freedom and fellow men are forgiven. I also think those who serve diligently for the Lord receive justification. D&C 4:4 Thank you so much for your lessons

I always wondered why Jesus told Peter something so depressing about his fate. But I believe l that after Peter denied Jesus 3 times (and Jesus told Peter he would) that Jesus was letting Peter know he would never falter like that again.

As always, it’s a pleasure to hear from you, Bryce. Your story about what your earliest memory of faith manifested to you, made me think of a memory also. I barely remember it, myself, I was really little at the time when my mother heard a great noise. She came rushing into the room and saw that the TV had fallen over (and this was early 2000’s, before flatscreens). So it was this huge brick-like TV that almost crushed me, but I was standing nearby, unscathed. My mom asked me what happened and I replied, “the man saved me.” There was no one else in the room. I was about 2 or 31 at the time. The only reason I remember this memory is because it left such a strong impression on my Mom that she shared it with me years later. It is thanks to that memory that I’ve always known that I’ve been watched over and protected all my life by a Heavenly Father who loves me.

I also think that Joseph felt compassion for his friend Martin Harris, and that also played a part in him lending the manuscript to him.😢

Around 19:40, I think I just made a connection… remember when Alma is counselling his wayward son in the BoM and he follows a method that shows us what “good parenting” is and how we should correct our own children? The Lord is following that structure here, I think. He first rebukes and chastises, then he lets him know that there is still hope, and lastly he outlines exactly how he (Joseph Smith) can fix things.

Great discussion. One thought about Peter and John in D&C 7. In verse 5 the Lord says that ... "he (John) might do more, or a greater work [here is the kicker] yet among men than what he has before done." Than what he has before done. Here and in verse 6 it is highly likely that that "greater" can mean more, or additional work than what was done prior to that point. Christ probably was not saying that John had a better grip on God thought than Peter. In verse 7 it is reaffirmed that to Peter and James "...I (Jesus) will give this power and the keys of this ministry until I come." Peter presides over the missionary and gospel, and church work that John will be engaged in. Verse 8 informs us that they will both have joy in their equally righteous desires. Just as a plumber is equal in standing before the Lord along side the credentialed professor; one calling and desire, if righteous and if it conforms to the mind and will of the Lord, is equal to another calling and desire. The farmer who receives his second anointing is just as anointed as an apostle who receives that ordinance. Yet they have different tasks, responsibilities, and assignments. You guys are great. Thanks for what you do.

I had a dream where the Holy Ghost was my judge, and I was condemned for my sins . I was praying for salvation for many nights, and I was afraid to sleep. The dream constantly repeated in my head before I sleeped. One day, I prayed so hard that Jesus answered, "I will be your advocate to the father, sleep, and I shall come with you this time" and he was wearing a red shroud and covered me and said this man has clothed the naked fead the hungry, heald the sick visted the imprsiond and the widows. He has been a faithful servant. Then the Holy Ghost said, "Come in, and we shall give you the keys to the kingdom though good and faithful servant."

Notice that the Lord says you will feel RIGHT not good. There is a difference. If a couple is in a parked car making out does it feel good? Of course it feels good, our bodies are designed for that. But does it feel RIGHT? No it does not. The Savior is in the Garden of Gethsemane atoning for the sins of mankind: does it feel good? No but it feels RIGHT. Always pray for, look for and follow the RIGHT feelings.

I’m not meaning to be critical just questioning, but isn’t saying temple covenants instead of baptism adding to the doctrine of Christ? I can see prophets talking about temple stuff in scriptures (1 Nephi 8, Ether 3, sermon on the mount) but don’t know exactly how it fits in with the doctrine of Christ.
@talkingscripture
@talkingscripture 3 күн бұрын
I would contend that the Lord adds the temple to the list in the Doctrine and Covenants. I don’t know how to read scriptures like D&C 95:1-4 or D&C 124:31-32 and not conclude that the temple is on that required list. Joseph Smith says that the salvation of the dead is essential for our salvation (D&C 128:15). I would also contend that President Nelson has made it very clear that the temple is an essential part of the covenant path. At the very press conference to announce his presidency he declared: “As a new Presidency, we want to begin with the end in mind. For this reason, we’re speaking to you today from a temple. The end for which each of us strives is to be endowed with power in a house of the Lord, sealed as families, faithful to covenants made in a temple that qualify us for the greatest gift of God-that of eternal life. The ordinances of the temple and the covenants you make there are key to strengthening your life, your marriage and family, and your ability to resist the attacks of the adversary. Your worship in the temple and your service there for your ancestors will bless you with increased personal revelation and peace and will fortify your commitment to stay on the covenant path.” (Ensign 2018, April).

Oliver has the gift of Arron aka the rod (I believe) in part because God set him up as a type of Aaron. 2 Nephi 3 I believe Lehi prophesies of the 4 Joseph's and specifically says Joseph Smith jr will be a type of Moses. Then it talks about how Moses was given Aaron to help him. The chapter talks about how Aaron was a more educated mouthpiece, Aaron to dictate for Moses, Aaron had this rod, Aaron had the priesthood, Aaron was Moses 2nd in command. The exact same roles as Oliver to Joseph!

Revelation… I have scriptures come to my mind. I'm pretty good at remembering scripture, but I never remember the exact wording typically. However when God is speaking to me these scriptures come so clearly to my mind. The wording is exact and I know it's not from me but a message from Him!
