Super helpful and informative video! I've made more than my fair share of mistakes this year, one of which was allowing my prize pumpkin (small by most folks' standards, but I'm proud of her) to get a bad case of sunscald. The burnt skin began to grow mold, so I carved the moldy spots out and caked it with sulfur powder and put a fan on it. I'm not expecting a full recovery, but I'm hoping that I can prolong the life of the pumpkin long enough to collect seeds out of it.

This is such a unique project! Are there any challenges you’ve faced during this process that could affect the pumpkin’s growth? I’d love to hear about any tips for growing massive pumpkins maybe we can all learn something!

Possibly a salamander hole. Looks same as when they tunnel under mine this time of year.

I have never seen a salamander. Are they pretty common around here?

Is rubbing alcohol or sulfur better for keeping pumpkin wounds clean?

I am not sure which is better. When I have to cut off blossoms, I use rubbing alcohol and then a very light dusting of sulfur. You have to be careful with too much sulfur because it will trap moisture in. At weigh-offs, you aren’t supposed to have any foreign substances on your pumpkin. I wasn’t about to put sulfur in this wound because I didn’t want to have to try to get it out.

Rubber alcohol when wet and sulfur powder when dry. The powder will hold moisture so you wanna wait till it’s dry.

I would be happy with tiny diamond, 800 pounds would have been nice this year, but it wasn’t meant to be. Heaven might be over 400 pounds but as we know these orange ones don’t normally go heavy. I hope that critter didn’t stay!

I know I should be more appreciative of Tiny Diamond. Just looks really small next to Snow White.
