Great show Mike, I like the idea of you reviewing albums you may not normally talk about. I learned so much about this album thanks to Mario’s information. It is always good when Mario is on the show. He brings knowledge and another perspective.

I love this album. I’m a bigger Alice Cooper fan than some of the KISS stuff, especially the newer stuff. The story, background and info Mario shared was great. Great show. How did you not know Veronica’s sake was about a dog??? Did you listen to the lyrics lol. Great show…hopefully you guys will do more of these.

Marcy Levy (the female voice on Millie & Billie) is also known as Marcella Detroit and I guess she is mostly known for her band "Shakespears Sister". Their biggest success was the track "Stay" from 1992 with its iconic video clip. She has also done solo records as Marcella Detroit and recorded a duet in 1993 with Elton John "Ain't nothing like the real thing". "From the Inside" is one of the "deep cut" albums of Alice Cooper. I became an Alice Cooper fan in the mid-80s, when I saw the video clip to his song "He's back" with all those snippets of the horror movie "Friday the 13th Part 6 - Jason lives!". So - I became a horror fan as well. Plot twist is that I was only 9 years back then. ;) Then, the 1986 concert "The nightmare returns" was aired here on German cable TV and from that on, I was hooked. His old classics had been turned into typical 80s hard rock and I started buying his back catalogue albums whenever I had enough pocket money. "From the Inside" was special because it sounded totally different from what I was suspecting to hear but I still like the album. My three favourite tracks on it are "Jackknife Johnny", "Millie and Billie" and "For Veronica's Sake". Thanks for covering it here. It's a pleasure to here in-depth about albums that one wouldn't think of first when talking about an artist.

Similar to what you mentioned, I was never a huge Alice Cooper fan. I remember hearing songs like Dead Babies coming from my older sister's room and a few other good songs, but for whatever reason, I never went all-in. I do think he's one of rock's truly intelligent and good guys. He never has a bad word to say about anyone. But this was one of those albums I took a chance on back in the day, mainly because I loved the cover. I'm a sucker for cool packaging and From the Inside is an all-time great, packaging-wise. Doors open to reveal what's inside, etc. Cool stuff. But I LOVED the album and still consider it brilliant. Every song's a keeper, IMO. Besides the cool packaging, the production and the playing is top notch. Personal faves are The Quiet Room (that mellow intro is flat-out beautiful), Millie & Billy (especially the female vocal), Nurse Rozetta, the radio ballad How You Gonna See Me Now, and We're All Crazy (funny in a creepy way lyrics). Had ZERO clue about the accompanying comic book. Wow.

Thanks for watching! Funny how we can like an artist, but so some reason not go “all in” like you said.

Okay before I say anything else I'm a big fan of this guy Alice is someone I can relate too. Especially this LP. Not everything he's done was good, but I really like him as a human. On the Alice Scale it's one of his best. Love the stories on it. I give this a 8 on a one to 10 on the Alice scale. Over all rating it's a 6.5 the over all scale.

So I can’t give scores for each song because to me I compare this a lot to The Elder. I have to listen to it as an album not individual songs. Both produced by Ezrin. Both concept type albums. Both came out around the same time. Both I couldn’t get into until the 90’s. Both I like now so I give it a 7 overall score. Also you both mentioned Meatloaf sounding on some songs. Funny I always thought a couple of songs could of fit in with Tim Curry singing them in the Rocky Horror Picture Show maybe as a duet with the girls 🤔

Nope, just a friend. You can see VIN’s brother on this old episode and he may make an appearance again sometime soon! kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2LPoGOKoJp-j6M
