I finished this swap in November on my drift car. I also went with an e36 4cyl rad and it's worked fine so far. I happened to get a late e30 318 while I was mid-swap and it looks like it's the same radiator. Napa 8484 worked great for me but I had to buy like four because I kept chopping them up too much, just be careful. I used it for my upper and lower rad hoses. For radiator fan I went with SPAL VA18-AP51/C-41A. It's a 16" puller fan and it is a TIGHT fit. I switched my water pump pulley bolts to flanged button heads and cut off the threaded end of the water pump to gain enough clearance to fit this fan and even then there was only millimeters of space. I used a mounting kit from Condor also. A pusher fan probably would've been a better idea but it works like a charm. Since it's a track car I have the fan wired to be on with ignition and the temp gauge just sits at thermostat temp unless I'm hotlapping.

For everyone wondering the e30 318 radiator it doesn’t bolt straight in to a 325 chassi the mounting points are different I didn’t know this till I spend an hour today wondering why it’s not lining up lol

Might vary between late model and early model mounting. It could be mounted using some little 90 degree brackets though

My coolant tank is on the right hand side, yours and others I’ve seen all seem to be on the left. Why is that

Might be differences between years and models

Can you put a fan temp switch in an M20 radiator?

what about the coolant lines that run under the intake manifold

Use all the m50/m52 stuff
@VoiresGarage Жыл бұрын
@@slightlyMADcustoms is that all just m52 parts. Ive seen some say to use the m20 hoses.

You can really use whatever you’d like. They should both work

Not sure on the numbers but the needle pretty much always sits at the centre of the gauge

Would you recommend the e36 318i radiator as well for a m50b30? would it provide sufficient cooling?
@slightlyMADcustoms3 жыл бұрын
With a proper sized fan it should work just fine
@terencengsaejung3 жыл бұрын
@@slightlyMADcustoms Wow you really reply super quick. appreciate that. Another quick question, with the electric fan mounted on the other side acting as a pusher fan. Is there enough space to fit a condenser? And what electric fan would you recommend? the stock e36 electric fan? and again, would there be enough space to fit a condenser? AC is pretty important for where I'm at.
@slightlyMADcustoms3 жыл бұрын
I would use aftermarket fan like flex-a-lite fans. Because you can reverse the blades to make it a pusher. I think the biggest you can mount is 14”. Not sure on the condenser, you’d just have to test fit to see how it’ll all work

Coolant temp sensor for the gauge how did u get it to read?
@slightlyMADcustoms5 жыл бұрын
xXUSMCSCOUTSNIPERXx You use the temp sensor that is original for the E30 in place of the e36 sensor. Check out episode 6: Wiring & ECU where I explain what you need to do
