The best video ever to calibrate rotary. Precise for every diameter object, well done sir.

great video. thanks. Before watching this we had bad luck today. Wouldn't dial in the way my friend was showing me, the rotary even was really hot. Monport 80watt co2 with the same type B rotary you're showing. Hopefully after watching this I can get things set up.

What ever I did to my old machine I could not get this to work. I just changed the pulses in vendor settings and all operational, all i can put it down to is the old stepper drivers are probably 20 years old and they're not talking to RDworks old CW260's running fractioned microsteps. Will have to have a chat with Matt when i make it out to one of his workshops. Cheers Ryan

Hi, I was wondering what diameter do you use when you need to engrave a vase shaped object. Do you use the diameter where you want to engrave or the diameter of the vase shaped object touching the rotary tool driving wheels?
@MWLaser4 жыл бұрын
This could be done by measuring where it contacts the drive wheels

Question I don't have "other" under my user menu. Where else would it be? I'm using RDWorkds. Thanks
@MWLaser3 жыл бұрын
what version of RD Works are you using? You can update to V8.01.48 here mwlaser.com.au/sdm_downloads/rd-works-v8-01-48/

@MWLaser5 жыл бұрын
You can replace with a 3 phase motor with the same mounting and shaft length as your current 2 phase one. If you need assistance selecting motor email me matt@mwlaser.com.au Cheers

An outstanding video and very helpful. I've been under utilizing my laser for years and now am confident enough to move forward. Great job. Question however... I'm running a Chinese Red/Black. The stepper drivers are not labeled. How can I tell which one is for which axis? Liked / Subbed
@MWLaser3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. If you cannot trace wires to the motor, the easiest way to know which driver is X & Y, is to remove the connection plugs from one driver, then power on machine and see which axis does not move.

Thank you so much for putting this together. I have struggled the last few months through various posts and videos and none of them described so clearly what you have here nor provided the proof that it worked. Or maybe I just wasn't getting it. In any case, thank you very much. I will be trying this out in the very near future. Would you be able to share the spreadsheet you set up for the recalculations?
