So I have the Lightburn Camera, 8mp 140 degree fisheye camera. I calibrated the camera but when I burned the image, for the four corners, I tried to capture the image but it will not capture. I have a OMTECH 60w (700mm x 500mm). Any suggestions in getting past this point would be greatly appreciated. Does this have anything to do with the lighting in the room? - Reggie

As a cheap method for better nesting without a camera you can just make a square or rectangle that's the same size as your wood stock, make sure it's on a layer set not to output, then just place all your cuts and engraves within the square, and boom your scrap will come out just like how you lay it out within the square. And if you don't do jobs often you can save the lightburn file for that piece of wood, which works best if you have a square reference so you always line up the same 😉

Amazing video. Love how precise you can get it! I just got a Neje Master 2 Max and I'm setting up an old cell phone for the camera. I wonder, is there a way to do this camera setup on a CNC? I have some live edge slabs that I would like to bowl out precisely. Currently I'm tracing the cut area on the wood with chalk, then using a couple framing squares to box in the area and taking a good photo on my phone. Then I'll take it into Illustrator and resize the image based on the framing squares. Next is tracing the chalk line to make a shape, then save as SVG and import into VCarve. Having a live camera preview in VCarve would be amazing.

In the corners you tilt the calibration patern so that it faces the camera at right angle - is this prescribed by the Lightburn manual? If not, then it bits the idea of using the chessboard pattern for camera calibration, as this idea is to offset distortions of a wide-angle fisheye camera view of a flat plane

Great video Ben. Thanks for posting it. I know in a previous video you found out your laser was really a 50 watt instead of the advertised 60 watt; will this laser cut cleanly through 1/4” Lexan (plexiglass) and 1/4” plywood in one pass?
@MyersWoodshop5 жыл бұрын
Yep
@fcpakins5 жыл бұрын
Lexan and plexiglas are not the same! Poly-carbonate (Lexan) is often found as flat, sheet material. The window of the laser cutter is made of Poly-carbonate because poly-carbonate strongly absorbs infrared radiation! This is the frequency of light the laser cutter uses to cut materials, so it is very ineffective at cutting poly-carbonate. Poly-carbonate is a poor choice for laser cutting. It creates long stringy clouds of soot that float up, ruin the optics and mess up the machine. Cuts very poorly, discolors, and catches fire. Per ATX Hackerspace Acrylic/Lucite/Plexiglas/PMMA are good to go! They cut extremely well leaving a beautifully polished edge.
