When the chain material is harder than the sprocket, the sprocket will normally wear first. High performance engines have a harder life. The cars today are not built to last 20 years. Majority of new car owners swap their cars after 3 years so they don't have to bother too much about doing all the servicing or checks. I know plenty of people who use their vehicles and only worry when the dash lights up.... I'm bloody married to one😂😂 Loving the content Thomas.🤟

VW/Audi specialist independent shop technician in USA here, I am curious what the engine codes for the 3.0/2.9 are that you are seeing with roller rocker arm failures. We never see it here in the US and I am curious if it's a Euro spec engine only problem or something different. Love the videos! I wish we could get some of the cool cars that you guys have always had available to you. Keep up the good work!

You say at time 28:00 that the zero is the problem because that is the viscosity when the oil is warm. Isn’t it the opposite? The high number indicates the viscosity when warm. So it could be the 20 or 30 that is creating the problem?

VAG stuff really is poor these days. I have a 2023 2.0 tdi and now find out the oil pump gear drive (which replaced failing chains) is a wet belt. Seriously this is cost Engineering that results in products to be avoided. I have owned many Porsche Audi etc but its come to an end just buy old or lease cheap. On the oil its the w 20 30 40 number thats most important not the 0w you assert. Yes 5w 30 is more shear stable than 0w30 so longer life but the w 40 is what will save the engine.
@MystElectric2 сағат бұрын
I’m a bit confused why the 0W would be the issue with the camshaft sprockets? Isn’t that only the weight equivalent of 0 oil when cold, shouldn’t a good 0w oil with a high HTHS be fine to use?

Why is problem with oil in first number-0W, it is cold viscosity and it is better to have oil less viscosity when oil/engine is cold, but it is important what is second number-20/30/40, i think to use in my car 0w30 over winter and 5w40 over summer

Unfortunate these cars are designed to only be used within the warranty. Due to their over, complexity, compared to maybe some other manufacturers. If you don’t have the skills to fix it yourself or the disposable funds. it would be very poor decision making the purchase one outside of that said p Regrettably, these vehicles are designed to be exclusively utilized within the warranty period. Their inherent complexity, when compared to certain other manufacturers, necessitates specialized expertise or substantial financial investment for repairs. Therefore, purchasing one outside of the warranty period would be an ill-advised decision.
