A synopsis of THTH videos: "I encountered this ridiculously difficult obstacle and wasn't sure how I was going to overcome it, until I came up with a genius solution that resulted in a work of art." Rinse and repeat. Amazing! 😍 👐

@@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse Haha, this comment brings back so many memories of my own projects 😂 It always like this when other people come and take a look at what you’ve built, they praise and are impressed but they can’t see the the hours of frustration and nail-biting hope that keeps you awake at night, worrying if things will work out or not. PS: I love what you did with the Two Trailer House so far! Amazingly done!🎉

I boggle at the knowledge and experience that resides in your mind now, and the painstaking and precise craftsmanship you've put into this project. I see people selling tiny home plans on Etsy - maybe you could do the same for this.

You're a class act, mate. I love your thought processes when tackling tricky problems & your attention to detail. 👍 Your marine ply lining in the shower alcove will be fine once it's sealed. 45 years ago, I built a simple/cheap vanity cabinet which had a meranti face coated with a cheap clear lacquer. It held up nicely for 30 years until I cracked the basin & decided to build a replacement. 😉 For prototyping your lighting, perhaps knock a long thin length of wood, and attach LED strips with a translucent plastic diffuser. It could then be temporarily mounted with hot glue to find the sweet spot of angle, intensity, diffusion/dispersion & aesthetics. Once you have it sorted, I'm sure you'll devise a beautiful way of integrating it. I once suggested that you set up a Patreon link, but if that's too cumbersome, KZbin now has a "Thanks tab" that viewers can click on & send you a one-off payment if they appreciate the content of a vid.

Thank you my friend. Haha the attention to detail kills me at times but I love the outcome. Yeah I agree as long as it's sealed and not constantly wet it should be fine. It's not marine ply as it's different timber and grades but it should be ok. I'll be using a floor polyurethane over it. Great ideas on the LEDs. I've done a bit of prototyping before I did the walls but I didn't realise how it would show up ALL imperfections. I should have known that. It might be ok if I can offset with light sources from other angles. Got some ideas. Got a pretty cool idea to make the lights super minimal too. If they work they will look cool. I really appreciate your Patreon/Thank you suggestion. I've always just wanted to share this stuff for free as so many people have shared knowledge with me. But I'll give it some thought. 🙏

@@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse Thanks, mate, for thinking of me as a friend. 👍 Your plan to use floor-grade polyurethane in the cubicle is solid. I'm sure it'll hold up well to daily usage. Thanks again for all you've taught me & others.

Love the idea. I'll look into that. The idea I had was to have them only visible through a line cut in the ply. I'll have to play around with some different ideas.

Instead of doing the LED lighting strip flat against ceiling try doing at angle so the LEDs shine just off the walls into the room. Having adjustable dimming LEDs prob best too so no glare. Awesome job so far man!
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse Жыл бұрын
Yeah I had thought of that. The plan is actually to put a COB LED strip behind a line cut into the ply. I really didn't want the LED glaring in your eyes, hence putting it off to the side. Have thought about angling into the house but makes the design a bit tricky. I actually have some very special switches I am making for the house that will work entirely on dimming so I will be able to set to any percentage. Thanks so much, love the ideas.

Awesome work mate. Hey for levelling up the two trailers you could have 2 removable reference points on both sides of the main trailer chassis and 2 cheap laser pointers on the side tralier which line up when square.
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse Жыл бұрын
That is a brilliant idea. Hadn't thought about a laser. That would help with alignment but not level though. But I do love the idea. I might give it some thought.

Hey, sorry if I missed this because the wife was watching tv in the background. Do you allow any space for expansion? Or is this achieved with the 5mm/10mm overlap? Great finish, a lot of work but definitely worth it.

Two tips for you..... before building, make a planing jig to plane your 2x4s... faster and easier. Second, since you are rebating your plywood.... you can screw through the rebate and it won't show and will prevent warping and bowing and you won't need to support the ceiling panels.
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse11 ай бұрын
Great idea on the jig. I have never seen them, I'll look it up. Although I have never found it too hard to run around with a plane and level. As for fastening. I absolutely could have done fasteners in the lapped joints. However, that means I would only be fastening two edges. It doesn't do the middle of the sheets or other edges. Propping slowed me but wasn't too bad. And the polyurethane I used will delaminate the ply or even the timber before letting go.
@maildvp Жыл бұрын
What do you use on the panels to get that finished? And what kind of ply and thickness?
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse11 ай бұрын
That is 9mm birch ply. I just sanded it and finished it with a polyurethane floor finish. Although it doesn't seem to be fairing well with the UV light. I'll have to see how that goes.
@ljt9020 Жыл бұрын
What type of sealer will or have you put on the ply linings ?

I got them from Bunnings but I am not sure they have them anymore. They are aval online though. They are called a "sheet prop" often used for propping plasterboard. They come up if you google them.
