I love the idea of plywood walls and you two did a job to be proud of. Im wondering if you did anything to seal up the joints between 2 sheets. Looking at this from the perspective of classic drywall, my concern is that you may lose some of the insulating properties of your walls because of that. I may very well be wrong but I'm curious to hear some feedback on how well your walls can maintain a comfortable temperature. Cheers

Hi, we did not seal between the joints but you could. We managed to get the joints nice and tight so not to much issue with air gap. Our house is insulated well at R4.4 so we don't have any issue thermally. 7mm ply does not offer much thermally compared to the wall system so not a big deal for as anyway. Thanks

Hi, I'm building a cabin using plywood on the walls and I'd like to make the joins between two sheets smooth so I can paint it so no cracks are visible. I don't know what product to use for this though? I'll be using a regular interior filler for the nail holes but am unsure what to use for the joins. Would you know? I'm in NZ and generally get my products from Mitre Ten or Bunnings. Thanks!

Just a question or your opinion....I want to get my 6x4m shed lined with ply and have quotes from 2 tradies...one wants to use 7mm + battons, the other wants to use 12mm and just attach to the shed pearlings... 12mm tradie says that the extra 5mm will negate the battoning and shouldn’t warp “too much”.... Anyway what do you reckon....

Good job. I need to do the same in my shed. Why the plywood is not resting on the floor and you put shims under it? How much space away from floor I should leave?
@WeemakechangeCoNz
@WeemakechangeCoNz 4 жыл бұрын
hey, not so important with ply on ply but stops the damp rising on concrete to drywall/timber. Also good to even out floor that is not totally level. Cheers

What's the compound at 4:55? Is that something like Liquid Nails? I plan to use a plywood ceiling, I'm wondering if nails are enough.
@WeemakechangeCoNz
@WeemakechangeCoNz 5 жыл бұрын
Hey, yep a liquid type nails product. Glue does most of the work, nails just hold till glue goes off for the most part. Cheers

@@Sandra-fg1ij think it was around $1000 to do the house. You will need to get them to order these in if they don't have them. We ended up a placemarkers as they could get what we want. You will have to shop around. Cheers
