I don’t know the distance that Jimmy is shooting these deer from that blind, but the new Gen 2 Ruger American Ranch model in 300 Blackout with a 16” barrel and a suppressor would be a potentially good choice. Likely would have to use supersonic ammo but it’s still somewhat quiet and effective out to reasonable distances.

19:42 At a company I worked for in the 90s, they had a one panel cartoon taped to the front desk. In it, Santa Claus was landed and two of the deer were shot and bleeding out. Next to the sleigh was a hunter with a top break opened up and smoking. And he said, "I don't care who's deer they are, they are on my lease." I cannot find that cartoon anymore.

Chalula is the absolute t*ts. Flavor for days that almost makes you think about it after it hits your taste buds (run that through your synapse gaps) and never so hot as to overcome whatever you put it on. And you can put it on anything except peanut butter and jelly and it works.
@jfess19119 ай бұрын
Yup, the 284 Win had two strikes against it since it was introduced in the Winchester 100 semi-auto and Model 88 Lever Action. These rifles were designed around the 308 and limited the OAL of the 284 and the maximum bolt thrust to that of the 308 (62,000 psi from a .473 dia case). That is why the bullet ogive needs to be fairly stumpy and the max chamber pressure of the 284 is only 56,000 psi. FWIW, the bolt thrust is related to the max interior diameter of the cartridge multiplied by the max chamber pressure.The 284 case is fatter than the 308, so the pressure was lowered to keep the bolt thrust the same. It seems that the US firearms industry has decided that cartridges for a short action (308 - length) rifle with a bolt for .473" dia rim should be limited to 308-levels of bolt thrust. Even the 6.5 Creedmoor uses the same 62,000 psi as the 308 for this reason. That also is the main reason why the SAAMI max pressure of the 6.5x284 is only 58,000 psi instead of something higher.* Too much chance of someone loading it into an action too weak. Of course in a strong action, it is commonly loaded to around 65,000 psi. Higher pressure short action cartridges have used larger rim diameters, the WSM, SAUM, RCM and the later PRC cartridges all use the larger "magnum" .532- .535" dia bolts. Oddly, standard or 30-06 actions that use the same rim diameter as the 308 are typically able to run the slightly higher pressure (65,000 psi) 270 Win and many, the Magnum cartridges. *Another reason is that the 6.5-284 can be made from regular 284 Win brass, which was in turn designed around 56K psi max pressure. When Weatherby lengthened the case for its 6.5 Weatherby Rebated Precision Magnum for longer actions, it raised the pressure to 65,000 psi.

re.: SNL favorite: I’m sorry but I’m not sorry ‘cause it’s just way too funny and when comedy could be funny regardless of content (I.e., prior to cancel culture/ you hurt my feefees/everyone’s a racist) Dave Chapell as the mailman in “The Ni***r Family” skit. Even the cast couldn’t keep a straight face. Truly funny. Genius at everything then and now, and true to his comedy. Not afraid to walk away on his terms or deliver the lines as he sees fit, unapologetically and and no one goes unscathed .

Merry Christmas guys, I have a question I guess for a later date. Everyone talks about the bullet weight, dimensions and design, it's listed on all boxes of ammo. Why don't they ever list the powder weights. Is there automatically more powder in a heavier bullet or no?

01:04:44 I once read or heard the 7 mm -08 referred to as 308 lite. Essentially the performance of a .308 W with a managable recoil. 308 can be spicy if you have no cushion in the recoil pad. But definitely a valid cartridge. Just not having the big market push. As for people thinking it is not a valid hunting round, those are the same people who think that .243 is good enough for kids and ladies but for some reason, at the age of 18, men need to step up to the .300 WM. It doesn't mean the .243 W or 7 mm - 08 are less valid as hunting rounds. It just means some guys need to clean up their misconceptions and tone down the desire to smack talk others for choosing manageable rounds. If you hit a deer in the heart and lungs with a 7 mm - 08, it will die just as surely as if you hit it with an unbraked .300 PRC, for example.

Currently most people don't comprehend this: Prior to the heavy-for -caliber projectiles, the 7mm had very high ballistic coefficients and sectional density. That was over 30+ years ago. 7mm's always punch above their weight.
