So true. Wait staff that complain are all babies, they get to sleep in, a lot of times they get to actively drink on the job and they’re all having sex with each other. Not to mention cash tips not being taxed, I have multiple friends that make about$100k a year bar backing or waiting tables. I've been everything Matt has been _and_ a cook, a server, delivery driver, and worked at almost every factory in my area. Being a server or a cook at a very busy location was by far the most stressful and shockingly more complicated than people tend to think. Doing outside work by comparison left you more tired by the end of the day but I also liked it for its general simplicity. It was satisfying seeing your work actually be in front of you at the end of the day

Matt’s right on the service industry, I manage a livestock feed store throwing 50-75 pound bags and fencing supplies etc. all day in the nice south Texas sun. Pay them fair, make the job not dependent on tips. Lots of hard working people who manage just as complicated and more physically tolling orders don’t get tipped nada. Plenty of people are in service without extras.

@@emjay3066 yeah i used to work in the back of 40ft shipping containers all day loading pallets in blistering heat, blacking out at least twice a week was common. Or another job working 10 hour days in a hazmat suit in the direct sunlight working with extremely hazardous chemicals, Shaner doesn't know that he's born... as the saying goes lol. I do like Shaner on podcasts alot including this time but that was a hot take.

I’ve done construction and warehouse work and I currently bartend. The construction and warehouse work is way worse physically, but the bartending is worse mentally. Both have there challenges, but those no AC days in the warehouse or doing concrete work in august were brutal.

1000% the emotional stress of dealing with entitled retards is much harder than exercising yeah, not to mention the plastic persona you have to uphold the entire time is soul crushing. Construction you're encouraged to say the most fucked up things and that helps get you through the day. The only thing that tips the scale toward construction is the work hours.
