I used to suffer from gout, I didn’t eat beef for many years, colchicine was the only thing that helped me with flare ups. Once I realized it was the fructose I stopped suffering on a regular basis. I’ve been eating carnivore for over two years, never felt better, too many issues to mention that gone now.

I'm a 65 year old woman. I put myself on the diet back in November of last year and I have lost 80 lb so far I have my cholesterol is normal my LDL is only a few points away from being normal all I did was stop eating all fast food, all junk food. I have eliminated my sugar 90%. And I have lowered my carbs to only eating 10% of carbohydrates. I eat a lot of fruits a lot of vegetables, and I limit my meat intake as well. I eat a lot of eggs cheese I take good care of myself I'm not very mobile so I don't exercise a lot but it can be done with diet and you don't have to do it with drugs. My doctor wanted to put me on a Statin and I said no I'll be glad to do it with diet she didn't think I could do it and I proved her wrong so all you fat people out there or even the thin ones stop eating junk food stop eating sweets and sugar lower the carbohydrates and you won't have a problem

However, so much of your information (about amyloid formation, double benefit of aspirin and colchicine, decrease risk of kidney strokes, etc) is all new to me. I really appreciate your information. If the risk-lowering benefits of colchicine as quoted by Dr. Cywes (from the study) are 31% and 23%, we would want to know whether those are "relative" risk values or "absolute" risk values. Many of us are familiar with the way statins were promoted because they lowered your risk of an event by 36%. But that was a calculated "relative" risk number. The actual "absolute" risk reduction was about 1% or 2%, as Dr. David Diamond has eloquently illustrated in his KZbin videos.

@@Xzyu2 Not sure what you mean by having an effect. Statins will certainly lower a person's total cholesterol and LDL-C values quite rapidly. If you are referring to side effects, such as muscle pain and weakness, that too can occur quite quickly with some people. If you are referring to memory loss, that could take years to show up (although sometimes it's sooner). If you are referring to increased arterial calcification from a statin, that effect would take more time. If you are referring to a person hitting himself or herself on the head and exclaiming, "You dummy, what were you thinking?" after going on a statin, that effect could take years for some people.
@Malcolm-Achtman
@Malcolm-Achtman 6 ай бұрын
@@robertcywes2966 So you are saying the 31% and 23% reductions are "absolute" risk. I suppose I could verify that for myself by closely reading the study but in all honesty, I can't be bothered. On a quick glance I did see something about possible risk of liver damage and that was enough for me to stop reading the study.
@billandpech
@billandpech 6 ай бұрын
BINGO!!! Also, I'm certain that treatment though a ketogenic diet like Carnivore has over a 20% absolute be risk and is 80% effective in eliminating soft plaque. Carnivore often increases cholesterol, but other videos explain why that's not a large concern while on the diet.

@@Malcolm-Achtman I understand your position. We've been lied to so many times over profit driven Pharma. Yet there is no real profit here, just scientific study....and quite respectable studies at that. I expect there will be some new, expensive Colchicine-ish med that is created for heart disease patients, at some point; but the study concerns just pure colchicine and no one holds a patent on that. I am 72, I do have pretty high total cholesterol but LOW triglycerides and a fairly high HDL ....78. But my ldl which I am tired of hearing is high. I asked my cardiologist about niacin the first time I saw him...." not enough studies for that"....I REFUSE a statin so he tells me that if I have a heart attack he is putting me on a statin. I am now trying red yeast rice with COQ10 and Niacin. Then my PCP is on my case and orders me Zetia...I haven't take a one of those either. There has to be a way without the statin. I had never heard of colchicine before and then today this video popped up! That’s what I call timely. With a CAC score of 0 and a reduction of small particle LDL from 2400 to 1400 after doing carnivore for a year, I told him I’d rather stay off the meds and he agreed. Given their track record, exactly how is FDA "approval" trustworthy? We really do need a REAL FDA that ISN'T approving all kind of toxic chemicals "fit for human consumption". It's not just approved by the FDA. It has shown amazing effectiveness AND safety for atherosclerosis by at least two large, long term studies and a number of smaller ones. It's NOT being pushed by Pharma because it is a old drug. It's just shown to be so effective, the FDA couldn't ignore it. Don't like meds? Don't take them. I wonder in a large scientific study, what the percentage would be in reducing heart attacks for heart patients would be on diet alone..... ot even with exercise added. 31% drop is a pretty high bar if you ask me.

Now 76 years old. I had a cardiologist that was adamant that I should go on Statins. He prescribed a high-dose statin. I had some troubling symptoms (leg pain, "brain fog", etc.) but he was unchanging. I went to another cardiologist who stated that a low dose statin might give less side-effect issues but provide some anti-inflammation benefits. I tried that one. The leg pain was resolved, but the brain fog - while reduced - remained (if I wanted to call the car dealer to set up a service appointment, I had to open the website, write the number down on a piece of paper, and then enter the number on my phone -- I couldn't remember a phone number for 20 seconds.) I discussed this with the second cardiologist and he agreed to take me off the statin, prescribed "ezitimibe" (spelling???), and agreed a series of monitoring visits. Within 6-8 weeks, all the statin side effects were gone. My triglycerides are approx. 70, and HDL and LDL numbers are OK -- not great, but OK. You can find a doc who is reasonable about statins, if one isn't willing to work with you, walk out.

Me too. I am now 60 with a history of chronic severe gout and high uric acid first diagnosed at age 24. I was taking allopurinol at the maximum daily dose (800 mg/day) and gout had become refractory (no longer responding to treatment). At age 55 started a low carb diet for reasons I thought had no relationship to gout (pre-diabetes). 30 year history of chronic severe gout immediately went into remission when I started the low carb diet. Over the course of several months I weaned myself off allopurinol with no gout flares. I am now 5 years gout free and 4 years OMAD. I started a very low carb ketovore diet about 2 years ago. I had a CAC scan 6 months ago with a plaque score of 181. PCP freaked out and wanted to put me on high dose statin in response to 181 CAC score. Odd thing is, the PCP only prescribed the CAC test at my insistence. He claimed it was of no value and insurance would not pay for it. Prior to the CAC test results, he was 100% comfortable with my lipid blood work, which showed 121 LDL, 90 HDL, and 37 Triglycerides. NMR lipoprofile is very good with a LP-IR Insulin Resistance score

@@petertownsend252 It is recognized that endurance athletes (like you) sometimes build calcified arterial plaque. Probably a response to prolonged physical stress. A statin won't help you. Easing up on your exertion might be something to consider (in my opinion). Also, Dr. Al Sears talks a lot about the harm of prolonged cardio exertion in his excellent 2010 book entitled, "P.A.C.E. The 12-minute Fitness Revolution." He explains why short bursts of exercise are superior and safer for you. When I was your age my CAC score was 479. I remember when I went for the test I was told that a runner had just got his CAC score done the day before and it was very high. I remember thinking, wow if an athlete has a high score, I wonder what mine will be? Turns out endurance running may have been his problem (if you believe Dr. Al Sears and other sources that have described the cardiovascular risks associated with long, cardio activity).

Yeah, but you don't have to take cholchicine for the rest of your life! Just enough to get the inflammation under control, adding in nutritional supplenents like alpha lipoic acid, Vitamin C, cysteine, and other antioxidents for long term management.

I won't go into a lot of detail here except to say that after I transitioned to a more animal-based diet my hsCRP increased (used to be around 1.0 mg/L, now it's typically about 3 or 4), my ferritin values doubled (from about 120 to 240 ug/L), but my uric acid value has decreased considerably (from 5.9 mg/dL down to 4.5 mg/dL).

you are the goat, seriously :))) very reliable information in all episodes. And this one is very exciting, not because of the CVD though. as a biologist interested in pharmaclogy of plants i know the compound well, of course. I am absolutely amazed that colchicin is appearing here. Even moer that it got approved by the FDA for CVD, or gout. The interesting thing is that colchicine is known for arresting the cell cycle in a late stage. This is not dose dependent. Such i would epect it to appear as an anti-cancer drug. Yet, the use as an inflammatory drug is interesting with its background. any idea how those properties could be reconciled? Is it addressing SASP??? And why was not it used for patients with covid crisis??? question over questions....

Senescent cells are part of the problem Endothelial cell senescence J D Erusalimsky 1, D J Kurz The wear and tear processes that are thought to contribute to human ageing may play an important role in the development of vascular diseases. One such process is cellular senescence. In endothelial cells the senescent phenotype can be induced by a number of factors, including telomere damage, oxidative stress and sustained mitogenic stimulation. Several lines of evidence indicate that endothelial cell senescence may be relevant to vascular disease.

We analyzed the inflammation and changes in the aorta by H&E staining. SOD, MDA, and GPx levels were determined as per the instructions of the kit protocols. ELISA was used to measure the levels of interleukins, whereas immunohistochemistry was carried out for the evaluation of MCP-1 expression. SRP treatment significantly suppressed vascular inflammation in BALB/c mice. Mechanistic studies demonstrated that SRP significantly inhibited the LPS-induced production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-2, IL-1, IL-6, and TNF-α in aortic tissue. Furthermore, it also inhibited LPS-induced oxidative stress in the aortas of mice, whereas the expression and activity of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) decreased after SRP treatment. In conclusion, SRP has the ability to reduce LPS-induced vascular inflammation and damage by modulating MCP-1. Keywords: serratiopeptidase, vascular inflammation, lipopolysaccharides, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, oxidative stress, vascular smooth muscle cells
