I am about to make this for a Romanian friend, but am adding dolmas, and using thick smoked bacon because I didn't watch your video before I went to the Eastern European market where they have smoked pork ribs. Oh, well. Next time! I'll let you know what happens. Please say a little prayer for this wee Scots-Irish Southern woman who is diving into the deep end of the sarmale/dolmas pool. Without a net.

40 min to 2 h depending on the temperature, but you never can overcook them the more they cook the better they taste

I like more Cabbage rolls than that. I buy my Cabbages rolls fermented so less work.

This video is well made but the recipe is poorly documented. A well documented recipe should have well documented quantities for every ingredient in the recipe... only a few quantities are provided, and those only in the video itself. It would be difficult to prepare this recipe accurately.

Where are the full details of the recipe! This is nice to watch but not helpful to follow. No measurements or timing.

No carrots or other roots?? No bell pepper??? No parsley?? I'm Romanian. And this is not the real recipe of cabbage rolls..it's only a recipe with rice and meat

Not all Romanians add bell peppers and carrots in the cabbage rolls. I am from Transylvania and my mom and grandmother made the cabbage rolls with dill, parsley, onions, tomato purée, bay leaves, peppercorns, rice, and salt. They put smoked meat between each layer of cabbage rolls and some savoury. There are hundreds of recipes for cabbage rolls…

Each region has its own recipe, but, Jesus, none of them makes "sarmale" with only rice and meat. Please!
