I just binged watched all your videos. The most instructional thing I could have watched. I'm pretty much where you were when you started filming, shopping for a single handed boat. That look on your face when you took your first solo sail, put my feet firmly back on the ground. Thanks for being brave enough to share

domejunky thank you very much for such kind words. Initially just for fun, but it seems to have taken over my life. I’m still pretty much last in every race, bar the toppers, feva,s and such like! At 18st in weight, I’m never going to be a whippet on the water, but the community is great, and just being out on the water does it for me. Thanks for watching ⛵️💦

@@traicys-dairy I learnt in a Feva! What was the problem with the Solo? Also, are you happy going out on the lake with no support vessel?

domejunky I loved the Solo, the problem was , it was wooden throughout. It was in really good condition but with usage, I could see it deteriorating before my very eyes. I have no knowledge or skill or place to maintain a boat. Also, on capsize they come up full of water. The Supernova and the Solution comes up dry. The Streaker was much like the Solo. I practiced my capsizing religiously. Although I’ve not mastered the dry capsize I can get back in the boat with relative ease. So the answer to your question is, yes I’m happy to have the lake to myself. Most of my sailing is midweek so this is usually the case. ⛵️💦

Is this the supernova you dreamed of? Apolloduck supernovas are £4k plus, way way out my range. So a first gen one will do. But I want to use her in the Clyde in rougher water. Are they suitable for this?

Sos the Rope yes I suppose it is... the Supernova, even the Mk1 still draw a crowd as they look a lot different than anything else out there. The Mk2 and Mk2e are very light and because they are built down to a weight, are easily broken. This is of cause my opinion! The Mk1 is certainly not heavy, but that extra weight makes for a much more stable boat and it can take a bashing. I know through experience lol. I suppose the question is, how serious you are about racing as both the Mk1 and Mk2 sail off the same handicap. I’m no expert, but the Mk1 for me anyway gets my vote. Don’t know if you’ve noticed on ApolloDuck, the Mk2s don’t seem to sell to well.
