Time to get the trail smoothed out with the John Deere. As much as we have been using it, it's nice to have a smoother trail to ride in and out on. Subscribe for weekly videos!

Great video showing how you used the box blade to smooth out your trail. I can't wait for my tractor to arrive... going to be cutting a trail through our woods to a build an overlook out onto the marsh where the wife & I can watch sunrise.

If I’m not mistaken you want to lengthen the top link to cut into the earth more. If you shorten the top link you will allow the box blade to float on the skids on the sides and the blade won’t cut as much. The box blade needs to be tipped back for it to cut better.

Kelly, Had a couple of questions on your tractor. I have really started to like the JD 4 series of tractors. 1) How long have you had your 4066r? 2) have you had any issues with in the time you’ve owned it? Did the dealership help you work thru any issues? 3) is there any features you wished you would have have gotten that would help your capabilities around the farm?
@TKCL
@TKCL 4 жыл бұрын
I've had it for almost two years and close to 400 hours. Only one issue until recently (now two issues). First issue was fuel gauge quite working, then all of a sudden started back working. I believe something had the float stuck in the fuel tank. Most recent issue as of yesterday, on medium and low setting my air quit blowing out of my left vents. Blows out of both sides on high, so I believe there is a bad diverter or the AC switch panel has shorted. I'll dig into that issue and update on the channel. I'm past the bumper to bumper warranty period so I'll try to repair myself. As for the little things I do and don't like, watch my review if you haven't, I'll link it below. Long story short, I still like the tractor and the power for its size. Hopefully the AC repair is easy, since that's been my biggest fear being that I'm in Florida. My last John deere was 13 years old and bullet proof, other than this electrical issue I expect the same for this one. As a far as necessary equipment for around the farm, disc, mower and absolutely get a set of forks, they are extremely useful. All other equipment is dependant on specific needs, I have a lot of wants, but not specific needs. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmmQf3aKisegr9E

Great video. That tractor is worthy of a nice hydraulic top link for all of the box blading you might be doing.

Sadly no rear remotes for me, I bought this tractor off the lot with no remotes since the wait was so long to order one. I could always add remotes, but they are quite expensive and I have not had a need for them on any other equipment I own.

2 big problems with this video -- one - the guy is speaking funny and two - he's using a JD..... on a more serious note, thanks for posting an awesome video. fyi - this is where a tilt and level hydraulic 3 pt hitch add-on is wicked useful - yes, I said wicked which means I am from.....

Question I’m about to take deliver of a 4044r in a few weeks. I’m wanting to know what size box blade you would recommend. 72 or 84. Does the 72 cover up the tire tracks?
@TKCL
@TKCL 3 жыл бұрын
72 does cover the tracks and when fully loaded with dirt it's heavy. I'd stick with the 72. Congratulations on the new tractor

I was starting to wonder "what do you do with that giant pile of shit you're collecting", then like magic the video answered my question. Pause for a second, lift up to release it, and shove it all off the side of the trail into the forest.

Why would you choose a box blade in leaves and forest matters instead of a disk or tiller?
@TKCL
@TKCL 2 жыл бұрын
Box blade was included with my last tractor purchase. I'd love to have a tiller, but they are not cheap. Disc and tiller also destroy roots of the trees I want to save.
@johnkovac4436

tiller would make nice trail then take box blade over it

How come you didn’t lower the shanks to rip into the dirt for a better finish? Was it going to get hung up on the roots?
@TKCL
@TKCL 3 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly, there are some large trees that have big roots running under the trail. I don't want to damage them.

The Kelley's Country Life ah okay I see. I actually just got a box blade yesterday for my 4052r and was hoping to do some grading where there are some small bush roots and what not. Hopefully it isn’t an issue.
@TKCL
@TKCL 3 жыл бұрын
It'll rip up small roots great, I just have very large roots in this trail that would stop the tractor and I don't want to kill my big beautiful trees.

That's what I hate is all the passes needed with a box blade mine weighs 560lbs and I wish it was at least 900lbs. I don't think 95% of box blades are heavy enough
@TKCL
@TKCL 3 жыл бұрын
Well they don't need to be too heavy with these compact tractors. Keep in mind they can load up with more dirt than the box blade weighs. That starts putting a big strain on small tractors. There definitely isn't a perfect attachment or piece of equipment.
@simpleman4196
@simpleman4196 3 жыл бұрын
@@TKCL small tractors I get and they smaller implements but bigger tractors like what you have and my 50hp would have no issues pulling a full heavy blade. Now hooking the rippers on a root or rock is different that will always stop or slow you down. Just a personal opinion I have is all I think a heavy box blade would work better.
@TKCL
@TKCL 3 жыл бұрын
There are definitely companies out there that make heavy duty impliments. You'll have to search them out and usually buy direct. Sadly everyone wants cheap and that gets you light weight and big box store prices. Tis the world we live in.

Bottom links are too tight. you ran out of adjustment. Should have been able to get your rippers to dig a bit.
