Hi Matt, thanks for your comment. Yes she’s getting wet this very afternoon. I’m not trailer sailing her so the mast will stay up! Sounds like you have a similar arrangement to my first boat, a Foxcub. She was on the Medway at the Stroud Sailing Club so sometimes had to lower the mast to get under bridges.

I think I hear the sound of a splash approaching! When I raise the mast on my MIII, I have a gin pole and can do it (carefully) on my own using the main sheet to pull it up. I put the back and side stays on before the mast goes up. If there is a snag with the stays, the cleat on the main sheet lets me hold the mast where it is while I sort thing out. Its nice to have a second person to attach the fore stay once the mast is up, it means I can stay on board and make sure the mast stays vertical.
