Join me this week as I craft a second raised bed and pot on my three pumpkin plants. As well as receiving free tomato plants.
🌻The plot is around 14 x 8 meters
🌼I've been gardening for about 4 years from my small garden and looking forward to this much larger challenge

Yes use those frames for your grape vines, get them up and in the sun. Also if you are allowed get a compost bin made .

Agree I need to make good use of the frames. They are just very heavy and not easy to work with 😂.

Hi Will! My absolute favorite and most used tool is a Hori Hori! I don’t use any other hand held tools because the knife serves me so much better. I suggest invest in a good one (not too expensive)! Illinois, USA!

Definitely utilize those metal frames I actually go find metal bed frames for beans and things, they don’t rot like wood trellises. Garden changes are like a game of Tetris always moving something from one place to another 😂. Hope the pumpkins do well for you. Have a great week Will, Ali 🌞🥵🇨🇦

Thank you, I am beginning to warm to the metal frames. Hopefully once something is growing up them they will blend in more 🙂

Oh poly tunnel take a few things in mind, if you have a problem with bind weed make sure it’s clear first. Check directional winds so opening a door allows wind flow. Sun location is important you want enough sun but some shade too as poly tunnels can overheat quickly. If other people have them check where and which direction they have them. Plan twice go home and plan again 😂😂 trust me it will save you a ton of work in the long run 👍👍

Thank you for the advice, I hadn’t thought about the direction for wind flow but will be sure to check out the other plots. I think I need a plan for the plot 🙂🌱

@@growwithwill7841 I spend more time redoing things because I didn’t plan them out 🤣🤣 so a 5 year plan even if you don’t think you’ll be there is very important 👍

Hi Will it could be the birds that have had the berries, ours can get demolished quite quickly by the pigeons

Pumpkins can be trained over a frame, but by growing them on my massive compost heaps, they suppress some weeds.

nxt year you would want to grow marigolds with your tomatoes they work great helping attracting good bugs what prey on the pests. check out companion planting crops to grow with other crops or crops with certain flowers. crops with crops some for example hide the sent of other crops helps keep those pests away well a lot them. if you growing peppers planting marigolds do help along with sweet alyssum flower that worked really well attracting good bugs and really helped keep most pests away just very small numbers this year, about 95% less this this than last and no chemicals compared to last year. a few options for next year. Borage Near strawberries and tomatoes Attracts bees to cross-pollinate. Garlic and onions with beans and peas, Mint or onions with asparagus, Cucumbers, squashes, radishes, sunflowers or tomatoes with potatoes, Cabbages or other brassicas with strawberries, Brassicas and potatoes with tomatoes. some examples Mint and brassicas The strongly scented leaves of mint confuse flea beetles and can deter them from laying eggs on the leaves of brassicas such as cabbage, broccoli, radish and cauliflower. However, it's best to grow mint in a pot, or it could smother your crop. Marigolds and tomatoes and peppers The strong scent of French marigolds (Tagetes) is said to deter whitefly, which is particularly useful when planted alongside tomatoes in the greenhouse works well outside if plenty of them . Carrots and leeks Strongly scented crops can work wonders on the vegetable patch. Alliums such as onions, garlic and leeks are often paired with root crops like carrots and parsnips. This combination seems particularly effective - the smell of carrots can deter leek moth from leeks, but the small of leeks can deter carrot fly from carrots. If you don't have room for leeks, try garlic chives (Allium tuberosum) as an alternative. Lavender with carrots and leeks Lavender attracts a range of pollinators, including bees, butterflies and hoverflies, so planting it close to crops such as tomatoes and beans could increase numbers of pollinators to your patch. However, its strong scent can also deter insect pests - plant with carrots and leeks for the best results. Wormwood and beans Wormwood, Artemisia absinthium, is a strongly scented herb that can deter aphids such as blackfly, from broad beans and other bean crops. What's more, its yellow flowers attract hoverflies, lacewings and ladybirds, which prey on aphids. just a few ideas for next year. also they may cost 10p more but carrot and parsnip seeds buy them in a tape all the spacing done for you , dig trench lay the tape and cover very easy and save time

@@growwithwill7841 not a problem, happy to help. it may help you with planning over winter, work out what goes where, like one crop may take a lot longer but companion plant may finish sooner so have a plan for it replacement. space out one crop more maybe have it in a few bed sounded by plants help attract good bugs and hide it from the pests. when i get my plot i plan to have rows of flowers slim row mix flowers to attract good bugs in between the beds so along top, few width plot in middle and at end plot and in between those where i plant crops and plants crops what help each other so i have as much help from good bugs as possible and scent to hide some other crops. while i wait i am trying as much as i can in the garden and see what works best. this year in the green house full of pepper and chili plants but also growing many marigolds with sweet alyssum and this year i really need to look for pests as last year they easy to spot so they have made a huge difference and now i will never grow them without, and next year i got few other options i plan to add too . next year also i be trying the rolls tape with seeds they seem a great way for carrots and parsnips as they right pain to space out but the tape dose most of that for you such a good time saver and what ive worked out for the seeds single or tape the price is very close so something im sure trying . glad i was able to give you a few ideas and also you may grow more types crops too with less issues, never get all issues but reduce them its a bonus
this is why your plants die when you repot them
