Your handspun is so nice. I also have several wips. I for some reason have been making a lot of top down circular sweaters. Two that's crochet 🐑 , in colorwork, and one knitted fair isle. Also got back into knitting more socks.😊 Thanks for the nice video, loved it.

It’s so pretty!! 😍 and I’ll probably have enough for another project after my Big Cozy Cardi.

Your hand spun is so pretty!! I literally said Harlow hat out loud before you said you were going to knit that. 😂 It’ll look so great in those colors! The DRK everyday socks are also my go to pattern. I love them so much!! I had to go down to 3.0 mm needles for my Bear Paw socks. Hopefully you like your next pair better. I love ribbed socks and that Summer Lee pattern has been next on my sock queue for a while! Also, I ripped out my MKAL earlier this month. I finished clue 1 but stopped when I got to all that purling in clue 2. 😭 Kudos to you for sticking with it!!
@madisonmonteze Жыл бұрын
Ahh thank you! I’m determined to make a cozy pair of Bear Paw socks for myself soon ☺️ and props for frogging your MKAL ! I just finished clue 2 this morning and am going to put the project in hibernation for a while… (possibly forever?? Lol!)

Your mkal shawl could be a wall hanging! It'll grow on you xxx I went for a 3plain and one purl rib for a gentle grip on my leg and foot for my favourite sock x Love your spinning result! I'm thinking Andrea's shifty vibes💜❤🧡 I'm always up for your lws tour/visit x

Hi Madison always enjoy your podcast. A vanilla sock tip for you. I find for going down 4 stitches for the foot is perfect. I like cuff down because you can try them on for length easier. You also might try an after thought cut in heel. So much fun! Cast on 60 stitches german twisted. Make the tube as long as you like. I am also making Th Big Cozy Cardi. Using The Farmers Daughter O’Dang Suri. With Heidi and Lana homestead fingering. I have about 10 inches done. I finally made it to the last section of clue 4 of twists and turns. It’s out of my comfort zone as well. But come spring. I am going to make myself wear it with a solid T. Will see lol. I live in California, would love to see some pics of NYC.
@madisonmonteze Жыл бұрын
Ohh thank you! I love the German Twisted cast on. Your Big Cozy Cardi sound amazing 😍 and you’re inspiring me to keep pushing forward on my MKAL! I’ll try to show more of NYC in the future. ☺️

Ahh love your DRK socks! I would frog the MKAL if you are just not that into it. That happened to me last year and I ended up being very glad that I used the yarn for something else. And I got plenty of enjoyment of just watching other people do it this year haha! No need to knit it for me. Great video!!
@madisonmonteze Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Emily!! I think frogging it is definitely in my future 😅

If you don’t love the shawl, rip it out! I have the MKAL from 2020 still sitting on my needles and I know I will never wear it if I finish it so I am ripping it out this year and reusing the yarn for something else. You can learn new techniques knitting things that you know you like and wear too. This was my 2nd failed Stephen West MKAL and I learned that I am even more satisfied watching it play out on Instagram rather than knitting it myself when 9/10 his designs aren’t something I will end up wearing.

Yes! I’m right there with you. I finished up Clue 2 this past week and have since put the project in hibernation… (and then I’ll probably rip it out one day… haha) 😅

Hi Madison- a new follower and I really enjoyed your time this morning as I contemplate my 2023 cast-ons. I’m a huge fan of the drk everyday socks and that KAL for the cozy cardigan is tempting. My question is I’ve inherited a Kromski wheel from my mom who passed (and I’ve practiced simply treadling. I have one bunch of fiber that my mom had with it. Where do I begin? I think the fiber I have is too short of staple. What were your ‘tutorials’ when you started spinning?
@madisonmonteze Жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. For spinning tutorials, I signed up for Craftsy and School of Sweet Georgia-both of which I found very, very helpful! I also love following Ewethful Fiber Farm & Mill on Instagram and KZbin-Kim has really digestible tips on how to spin, and she also sells lovely fiber (www.ewethfulfiberfarm.com/). Tazhi's channel (www.youtube.com/@stitchesandstarlight) is also wonderful inspiration! Hope that's helpful, let me know how it goes. ☺️

Can you please post a link or more information about the sock course you took. I have made many socks but have been unable to knit a pair that I am happy with and have the proper fit for myself. Thank you 🙂
@madisonmonteze Жыл бұрын
It’s called the “Perfect Fit Sock Course” by Knitty Natty, but sadly it looks like it isn’t open right now. I think she plans to re-open it soon though. Here’s some info on it! kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmSbhHl9jMaCj6s ☺️

I'm doing a local MKAL right now and it's fun. It's a scarf and it really just isn't anywhere near the time commitment of the crazy huge shawls. I'm not sure I'll like the project in the end, but it's simple and quick enough not to be a big deal. I can't see doing a shawl MKAL. It's just too much knitting for something I'm not sure I will like. Like you, I don't like stripes. So I am wary of such things... I agree on the community aspect though, it definitely does give you FOMO.
