HHey, insecticides are most definitely the reason your ants are dying. Avoid giving them fruits from the grocery store; instead, provide them with sugar water as their source of sugar. It's also better to dilute honey with water rather than giving it to them directly, or just stick with sugar water. Additionally, I would recommend withholding an outworld until you have around 15-20 workers.

100% agree about staying away from straight honey. I've had success with a 50:50 mix of honey with bottled water. I've also used sugar water occasionally.

Thanks for the insight. I'm now switching to nectar and honey water. Tough lessons to learn. By the way, I have a new channel where I'll be posting these from now on. www.youtube.com/@ColesAnts

@ Great! You could get some Camponotus species that grow quicker to make up for your lost colony. C. nicobarensis & C. maculatus are really nice species and grow fairly quickly for ants that big.

@ I think I’ll try to find some in the spring. I also have some new colonies I’m hoping to introduce into the story after the next episode which will be hopefully be about Ant Bonny getting ready for diapause assuming all goes well.

I am so sad this happened, i've watched every video until now. But, I do think that the pesticide option is the most likely, specially because of the workers movements before passing away.

5 ants. One is named Bonnie. I see history repeating itself (WAS THAT THE BITE OF 87?!?!?!??)

@@mathiaspimentel7571 wow! I didn’t make that connection! I should’ve put that in the script.

maybe the heating pad killed the Ants🤔🤔

You gave her too much space. Keep her in a test tube and then move her into a smaller nest once they have like 7 workers. I have the same queen with brood and 5 workers still only in a test tube. Also I don’t know if you have an incubator but I would recommend one. I keep all my ants in an incubator

Thanks for the advice. I'm still learning the ropes so I'll take all the insight I can get. I got a heating pad but no incubator. I started a new channel for these btw: www.youtube.com/@ColesAnts
