Just watched a few of your videos, liked and subscribed. I wonder if you would like the Nikon D2H - I do... Re the Keith Richards interview, that first 10 minutes is always so exciting, I go for retro gear because it doesn't beak the bank and you can usually re-sell for close to or more than you paid, then you can have the first 10 minutes again and again. :p

I have 3 digital cameras and the ages of them are 9,11 and 15 years old. The 3 of them help me take wonderful images and will continue to do so for many years to come.

I only shoot jpegs and I almost never edit so the camera I like the most is the one with the best jpegs.

I loved my Hasselblad. The image quality is out-of-this-world. It also had the loudest shutter known to man :) They didn't care about that on the moon though!

I always had nice professional expensive gear. I sold everything year ago. Now bougth a secondhand Pentax K70 and for fun an Pentax K10 from 2006 with ccd sensor. Ok, it's much slower but the images are perfect and 10Mb is large enough. Only for PC's I want the new CPU's for the speed. Working 10+ hours behind a screen it's important you have great equiopment.

I agree with everything. I enjoy more and more the "new" Nikon D40 I bought two weeks ago despite it's 6 MP. Just like you said : it has all that you need. I was surprised to find a focusing assistance and it's easier to use than any focus peaking ! To be honest, I think that 8 or 10 MP is the sweet spot, but the results are great. Everyone talks about the colors. I agree but I like the black and white output even more. It's not ultra sharp but sharpness can sometimes break the magic. Nostalgia ? Yes and no ! Sharp photos existed even in the 19th century and I think there's a lot of confusion about what's "film like", something very difficult to define by the way. In my opinion, early digital looks are specific and have their own charm. As photographers, we live an incredible time. Good gear has never been so cheap, if you cover your ears to the siren song.

Well said! The Black and White output of the D40 is excellent. Most CCD sensors have great B/W capabilities. What lenses do you use on your D40?

@@HerbsVintageTech The AF-S Nikkor 35mm 1.8 and I'm happy with it. I'm looking for a 28mm which is closer to my favorite focal lenght. I find the AF-S version too expensive. Maybe the AF would be OK but I'm wondering if the focusing ring is comfortable (short curse as many AF lenses?). I found one and I'll try in the shop but I guess I'd prefer a E series. Thanks again for your excellent videos!
