Prashant, I belong to the trader community, being trader we were considered closer to brahmins, but segregated by brahmins in Konkan. Nevertheless, my great great grandfather had own farming rice paddy land. His house was set on fire by GANDHIANS. I guess as traders weren’t Gandhian enough, and brahmins were hated by that section of people. Marathas. Being the only survivor of that incident, he hid in bushes and they went to nearby village for refuge to relatives. He got basic education, but was indebted to the family. Travelled to Mumbai at the age of 16, worked as lipik in small offices. A local wealthy fisherman ( yes fishermen were wealthy those days, they had control on economy) now they are cornered and ignored. That man helped him set the business. The bottom line is, many survived the atrocities of Gandhian politics. They were not peaceful, they were not morally better. He was no saint, and more evil than British for us. That’s why in my family we say, British ARE better than Gandhi.

One of which was " Netaji has promised he will be back"with so much conviction that we believed it.... My family from maternal side was Mukherjee zamindar of Ula, Bengal now called Birnagar ( which was thus named after the bravery of mukherjees) ..... One stroke of pen and we lost lands and properties because of rejecting the " Rai Bahadur" title and taking part in the revolution......I am so so sorry but this feels personal I dnt know who will read this ..... Attempted to listen to this several times... But cud not .... Really not sure what I felt.... Rage, Sad, Greatful, Disgust all at one time..... one thing for sure.... People who have gone through it doesn't like to talk about it.... I have heard many such stories .... A well established BASAK family ( holding good positions like Barrister ) came to kolkata ( only the wife with her two children) with rice, potato, few coins and gold all packed together in just 2 pillow covers. The menfolk mostly stayed back a bit more to sell of the properties.....I remember every time this woman told me this story she ended with " at that point I was not even sure whether I will see my husband again or not but I had to survive for my kids".

Your story resonates with almost all partition families. Selling land was never achieved when great grandfather's life was in danger. Women were to be sent off secretly so that they won't be r@ped and children burned. Sadly we see the same story replayed again and again in present day bangladesh.

His book land of seven rivers should be taught as official book for history of sindhu saraswati civilization or indus valley civilization or history of bharatvarsha. His book is better that books written by all marxist historian combined. That book is a masterpiece.First man who took on marxist historians in 2010's.

A great great thank to Smitha Didi for such a podcast. Really, this podcast is a solid proof, how social media also can be used as great learning centre. Other than this, ordinary people will hardly know the truth after school life and during our working life.

Sir your books are very eye-opening and informative. I could only imagine how much background check you might be doing for these information. Really thankful to your greatness and service towards our beloved country. 1 request - kindly start initiative in think tank group related to "accountability of judges and judicial reforms " in front of Modiji. Mr. Sanyal is absolutely brilliant! What a treat to listen to him & learn about India's REAL History. For Western audiences - Congress & their collaborating allies who were so friendly to the British Rulers - were like the Vichy France in World War-2. Nehru was the Marshall Petain of India & People like Savarkar & Bose were the Charles De Gaulles of India. Except, while in France DeGaulle aligned with eventual Victors (Allies) & became a National Hero; in India it was tragically the opposite - was like Petain & his Nazi bureaucratic collaborators becoming the eventual French leaders. So sad for India. Hope the people of India learn about importance of the Naval Revolt (dont minimalise it by calling it 'mutiny'), INA Trials, Bose, Savarkar & other so-called extremist Revolutionaries. These people were the real Heroes & they loved their country & wanted Freedom so badly, way more than the Soft collaborators/ semi-revolutionaries like Nehru.

Chitpavan brahmin genocide is what happened after Gandhi was killed. Not because they loved Gandhi, it's just that those who killed them hated brahmins with a passion.

Thanks to Sanjeev ji for highlighting history of India that was written off….My great grandfather and family in his sixties had to leave Maharashtra in the dark of the night and moved to a small village in another state and luckily survived post Gandhi assassination…

Were the Sanyals originally from Hooghly district of West Bengal before they settled in Varanasi? I have seen some sources which claim Sachindra Nath Sanyal's ancestral house was in Hooghly district.

Gratitude is the only feeling I have after listening to this podcast... Such conversations invoke the drive to get up and give back to the society which has suffered immensely and has seen unfathomable atrocities in the past. Kudos to Smita Mam for bringing the joy of listening to the reformers of today...

Brilliant episode. Sanjeev Sanyal is a true jem. Though Nehru and his followers did everything in their power to wipe the records clean, the old nationalist revolutionaries, our unsung heroes have found a passionate voice to tell their tale, how they fought for the freedom of India and sacrificed their very life so that future generations could be free from the foreign yoke.

1:05:01 Most important part of this interview - pls tag this separately than under the Silicon Valley Bank headline. Clearly outlines the government's vision. It's heartening to know that Modi government receives advice from such eminent thinkers. Judicial, administrative and police reforms are the most important next steps that the country needs and I am glad it is a priority of the government.

Beautiful... I was gonna say the future cabinet of India looks super bright n cutting edge must say. No-nonsense political figures like Yogi, Himanta, Fadnavis, Rijju, AnuragThakur et al. while no-nonsense thinkers with a true Indian Nationalist bent of mind like JayPanda, TejasviSurya, Annamalai, Sanyal, JyotiadityaScindia et al. 2047 seems closer than it actually is in my mind. Absolute delight to watch this PodCast of Smita-Sanyal.

OMG. I remember Sanyal Ji discussing in an interview around 2021, how US govt spent money in covid crisis vs how India govt spent money in covid crisis. He then told that US will have its consequences. He also expressed happiness about how India was able to send direct benifit to needy people, food ration along with some money, using Aadhaar & UPI. Thank you Sanjeev Sanyal ji.
