I had chills the first time I saw that scene with all four horsemen…even if it was fake. I just think it’s something that all of us who have played this series since the beginning anticipate will one day happen on a larger scale. Just makes this series have something extremely unique about it that really no other game has to the same extent. Of course it has to actually happen for it to feel complete, but no doubt that anticipation is pretty strong to see what that would actually be like.

I love that they brought back the cherub boss from DS2 and made him an enemy in 3. The world building of this series is my favorite thing about it even if it is weak and weird in places lol
@Kuddlesnot Жыл бұрын
Which one is that specifically? I love it too, there are a lot of enemies like that, and it makes the games feel cohesive. I think that is a testament to the character, world and enemy design - so many other games have done the same thing and just feels like cost-cutting. Darksiders just feels like a living universe!

The boss in Darksiders 2 is Jameraiah the scribe in the ivory citadel. Im sure I butchered the spelling. But his design and move set are similar so we're lead to believe that the angels in the chairs in Darksiders 3 must also be scribes I think

@TheKeyblader133 Жыл бұрын
Pretty much agreed on everything you said about Lust. They are probably one of my favorite iterations of the character even though they don't have all that much screen time. Tall sword expert who can poke at all your weaknesses, in combat or in your head. I love the blending of Lust's power not simply being a vague aura of influence, but that theird words carry that super natural influence, and it can potentially sway *anyone* not prepared to resist it. While i think the game could have included more to prod at the idea of Fury adapting and growing to excise her flaws that the sins brought to light, Lust was by far one of the most satisfying points of the game and definitely one of the best beats of the narrative for me. That said, I'm looking forward to the collectathon next episode, even though I fully know what to expect xD. What can I say. I like watching people obtain the shinies

Hey Kuddles, I was wonder what that private video before this episode was all about. Is it significant in any way? I was just wondering since it seems a bit out of place. Other than that, it's great to have you back doing 100% Darksiders walkthroughs again, although I kind of feel like its the end of the world😉. I'm a small bit annoyed at you for taking so long to get started on darksiders 3 after you announced you were doing it several years ago, but I also understand that you needed the time to get to the point where you could do it professionally. I look forward to the next episode!

Thanks for letting me know about that private video Ken! I'm not sure why it was still there, it was actually a deleted version of this episode (Ep. 6) that I had uploaded then deleted because I found an issue with my export before I made it public, and had to re-upload. It should be gone now from the playlist. You didn't miss anything. I totally understand that feeling, and a bit annoyed at myself honestly for taking so long to finally get to making these. Hello Kuddlesnot! I was just wondering which bosses would be tackled if the game was linear instead of how it actually is. I know that the game is “choose the bosses in any order” scenario. But if the game wasn’t designed like this, how do you think the bosses would have been fought according to the story and the cutscenes?
@Kuddlesnot Жыл бұрын
I think the original, intended order was Envy -> Wrath (Fire) -> Avarice (Storm) -> Sloth -> Lust (Force) -> Gluttony (stasis) -> Wrath2 -> Pride -> Final. That's the only time that story-wise everything sequentially makes sense (with story logic and character arc). When they decided to adjust it to be non-linear, they made slight adjustments to world design (like the storm/bar swing corridor I mention in Ep5), added more Vulgrim Serpent Holes, and adjusted dialogue triggers to make sure things would still make sense. However, not everything does make sense. For example, If you do Envy -> Wrath -> Lust (Force) -> Gluttony (Stasis), the Lord of the Hollows is very tired and worn out when he gives stasis. Then, there is a little dialogue walking sequence after where Fury and Watcher say "What do you think he means? One of us will perish in our next encounter?" or whatever it is. If you don't get storm before this, HE DOES NOT ACTUALLY SAY THIS. Then, if you get storm after that, he is chipper again, and does not say anything about this being the last encounter (critical to the story arc with him). She might even say him "why not give them all to me and get it over with?" even though she has all of the hollows, as storm would be the last one. That line might have been cut however. It also isn't completely open, which I believe if it was the intention from the beginning, there would have been more options. But in many ways I think that design would have been counter-productive to the story driven world Darksiders is. The only bosses that can be done "at any time" are Avarice and Sloth. To do gluttony, you have to beat Lust first. To fight pride, you have to beat all the other sins first. So the order is actually pretty set (Envy -> Wrath -> Lust -> Gluttony -> Wrath2 -> Pride -> Final) and you can just throw in Avarice/Sloth whenever you want before pride. And their solution was to just pull those two particular bosses out of the set order, and make them scale to your level. Not to mention, after you get the flame hollow, it literally forces you down the avarice path with the flame hollow tutorial. You have to actively try and avoid it to do Sloth or Lust first. Obviously I can't prove any of this, this is just my theory using my storytelling detective goggles! Thanks for watching, Author. I can talk about this stuff all day!

I agree, but I think it was probably the right decision. Michael Wincott is a pretty big name and probably would be prohibitively expensive to bring him back for this one scene. Maybe they asked him but couldn't work it out, who knows. I'd rather the budget be spent elsewhere in the game. But if ever is a Darksiders 4 or 5 with all of the Horsemen as primary characters, 4 if there isn't a standalone strife game, 5 if there is, we need Michael Wincott back!

@Kuddlesnot Жыл бұрын
No, I haven't done one for Genesis. I actually enjoyed it a lot, in really felt like a "Darksiders" experience, even more so than 3 does in a lot of ways. However, it ultimately just made me wish for a main series Strife Darksiders game. Once I get through DS3, I am planning on doing a 100% guide of Genesis!
@EvgeniyPanchovski Жыл бұрын
Hey Kudds, I was wondering why you never seem to use the flame hollow's weapon (the really fast-hitting set of weapons). I find it significantly easier to output a lot of DPS with it, combined with the barbs of course. I guess it could be due to the fact that I'm near max level upgrade on it, but I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks for the great content, as usual.
@Kuddlesnot Жыл бұрын
That's a good question. Yes, part of it is that I try and upgrade whip always first. I think the other reason is, especially as blockers become more common, it is easier for me personally to be more precise with the whip to attack vulnerability windows and use the chains primarily as the counter weapon to apply the fire DoT and the best single hit DPS damage in the game. That all being said, I probably should use it some more with regular attacks when I know I have a big enough window of opportunity!

Why did it "completely" skip the fight? That's a very weird glitch.

My editing might have made it unclear, but I tried to switch to havoc just as I died (after the usiel cutscene). It started to play the usiel cutscene again, including sound over the loading screen, and then finished it after the loading finished. When I went back to the boat, it worked as normal, regular cutscene, fight, usiel cutscene, then I cut back. I skipped it in the editing.

Lust conjuring illusions of the other Horsemen and tempting Fury with their obeisance was so cool. War's voice actor was more reminiscent of Liam O'Brien than Death's was of Michael Wincott. I'm sorry Mr. Snot, but your reaction to the bugout cutscene was almost as hilarious as your reaction to the bugs in The Demon Lord Belial. I'm sorry, but Fury's emotional whinging is...odd to me. Someone as powerful as Fury wondering about "who she's meant to be"...she sounds like a teenager, not a Horseman. I know that's a common theme among characters nowadays with all the validation nonsense going around in today's world, but it was jarring to me.
@Kuddlesnot Жыл бұрын
Liam O'Brien does do War in this game! And other voices (like the Angel Champion). I talk a bit about it near the end of the episode. These bugs are pretty funny to me as well, haha. I completely agree in terms of the dialogue - I think that is a very weak element of this emotional journey for Fury. While I think the character arc is a valid one, the way it is often presented does often seem "uncharacteristic" for the kind of characters the Horsemen have been up to this point. TLDR, its a weakness of the writing. Agree or disagree with the story beat (and I think Bloodlust in our conversation in Ep5, explained very well what this character arc for Fury accomplishes in the wider story of Darksiders, while I felt overall it was a missed opportunity), I can think of a million other ways for Fury to have that emotional moment without needing to whine about "who she is meant to be," which does come across as kinda plain. Just off the top of my head, in the cutscenes previous, she says something much more revealing: "You should not have made them kneel!" IMHO this is much more well written moment. In a flash of that furiousity, these are the words she says. Not something about how dare they impersonating her brothers, not something about how she isnt' dumb enough to fall for Lust's tricks, none of that. In that moment, all she can think about is what might have been enough to convince her. That is something that, while talking to watcher, could have been incredibly revealing to herself and used to create the subtext of "do I like who I am, or do I want that to be "who I was"?" without having to say it so ham-fistedly.
