Thank you for sharing. You are so kind and helpful to me, a novice, who is, somehow,drawn to mosaics. Your work is inspiring. To me, as a retired math teacher, it is the most important quality in a teacher: to inspire her students.

Those are some cute kids with great mosaics! When the kids were virtual last year and had Wednesdays off from school, they were lucky enough to have Art with Aunt Julie!

Great info on the adhesives! I have the tools and stain glass (even a grinder) from my interest in mosaics a few years ago but something else got my attention so everything was put away, lol! I’m trying really hard not to go out and buy too much as is my habit so knowing more info on adhesives is great to have. I’ve gleaned from videos I’ve watched of using thinset (for exterior and interior use), Weldbond for interior, Mac for exterior and Apoxy Sculpt for other uses. I have the e2000 already from other crafts. I need to buy thinset but want to buy the correct one first so more research on that. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I know many artists prefer Laticrete thinset. I've been using VersaBond from Home Depot with Mortar Admix instead of water. I've had no issues with it, but I do think storing it in an airtight container helps with shelf life.

@@mazzonimosaics8222 Thank you so much for that info. I checked out Laticrete’s website and only the Tile shops carry it in Vegas. I wanted to be able to buy in Lowe’s or Home Depot and now I will. 😊

What spray did you use clean your glass? I Love the way your ferns are looking. thanks for sharing!
@mazzonimosaics82222 жыл бұрын
I like any ammonia free vinegar based glass cleaner. I'm not sure what brand that is, but it might be Great Value from Wal-mart.

Do you glue the pieces on that thing then put it on your project ( didn’t know what it was called)😂
@mazzonimosaics82222 жыл бұрын
Depends on the adhesive. Pieces were put on one at a time. For the floral mosaic, I back-buttered the chunky ceramic pieces with Loctite Power Grab. But when I used E-6000, I dotted it on the base and stuck the beads on. For the ferns, I dipped pieces in Weldbond, then dabbed some off before placing on mesh. For the smalti, I spread thinset in a small area and pushed pieces in with a wiggle to “set” them.

When coloring your grout, which colorant do you prefer? Which one(s) are most vibrant?
@mazzonimosaics82222 жыл бұрын
I use Colorants brand and they are earthy. I think Sheri Warner Hunter carries more vibrant colors.
@speedmom17022 жыл бұрын
@@mazzonimosaics8222 Thank you for that! I know a lot of people like to use black, primarily, or white. But I've seen a few projects that have used different colored grouts in a single project and even glittered colors. I am thinking I want to use more colorful colors. Have you ever tried the Litokol crystals grout? I just bought some with some green color crystals to mix into it, for my green glass tiled garden window. I saw Peter show it on Treasury Road mosaics.
@mazzonimosaics82222 жыл бұрын
I saw that! Peter makes terrific videos. I have not tried it. I have some glitter grout additive that is like silver glitter. I found it works best if I rub it on top before the grout sets up. When I mixed it in the grout I could barely see it.
