It’s winter here and it’s been very cold( for Australia that is) so I’ve been able to wear all my warmest Nutiden sweaters. Currently sitting on my verandah which is a sun trap and my favourite place to knit : making the Artisane Cardigan in Sandnesgarn Sunday and mohair both in Almond and I’m loving the creamy chunky cables. Your Lunenberg is stunning and very inspiring 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

So lovely to see you again Nikki! What an exciting but slightly stressful time ahead for you, good luck with the move. Love all your projects as always and your Jennifer Beale garment is just stunning! It’s been quite a cold winter for us, 10-12c most days which probably doesn’t sound too bad to you but we’ve had -2 up to +2 wind chill quite regularly but it’s meant I’ve had lots of opportunities to wear my winter woolies, especially my Nutiden sweaters 😊

I've realised one of the reasons I love your podcast...you and I share the love of different pattern constructions 😊. I'm now eyeing the Lunenburg....I had purchased quite a few colours of sport-weight yarn for something that didn't quite work out, so I've been looking for an alternate pattern. I am currently working on the Joni by Natasja Hornby...I think you'd like it! Such an exciting time for you! I'll probably stay in my house another 7 or 8 years. I'm trying to tell myself to start purging now, after being here since 1987, to save myself a pile of work later on 😬
@KnittingWithCatHair6 ай бұрын
I think you'd really enjoy the Lunenburg! I can't seem to put mine down 🤗 I have had my eye on Natasja's patterns for some time as well and will definitely make one! Joni is such a lovely pattern 😍 I'd recommend starting the house purge sooner than later, but I'm a procrastinator myself so really only do things I don't wanna do when I absolutely have to 🙈🤣

Happy birthday Nikki. Congratulations on your new home. So many wonderful things to look forward to! Your Stephenville Crossing looks fantastic on you. Other projects are looking good especially the Lunenberg sweater yoke. I finished my Maeron. It is drying on the blocking mats. Today I cast on the Mon Ami Breton by Hinterm Stein. Best wishes

I'm finishing a cotton Sunkissed Sea T (fantastic pattern) then I am casting on Joe Batts Arm. I've had the yarn for 2 years and hopefully I will get it done for winter, my first Jennifer Beale pattern. Amazing thrift haul- I typically see only single skeins! The terra cotta is especially beautiful.

Okay, finished watching and just so excited for you ❤ It sounds like it was meant to be, the way everything came together! Oh, and happy early birthday 🎉 You can't go wrong with an Ashford spinning wheel (or a Louet) in my opinion. I'm just finishing a pair of handspun socks 🧦

Thanks sweet Cary! The past year has been a very difficult one for our family so it's been nice to feel like things are finally moving in a positive direction ☺️ Handspun socks are the best!! I wore my one and only pair alll winter and can't wait to make more 🤗💕

I rarely find good yarn at VV. So good for you. I have found some great wool sweaters from which I have reclaimed the yarn. I am almost finished knitting "Reina de Picas" by Valentina Bogdanova. Binding off the hem this evening, then on to the short sleeves. the Lunenberg is on my dream knit list. Congratulations on your housing adventure.
@KnittingWithCatHair6 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing Adrienne! Yes, such a great idea to re-purpose yarn from thrifted wool sweaters! I haven't done that yet but would love to try. Reina de Picas is such a pretty pattern 😍 And you should absolutely knit a Lunenburg as it's just soooo much fun 🤗💕

I have a kiwi 2 I bought from a little old lady (true story) and I love it! I’m dreaming of a kiwi 3. Can’t wait to see what you think of this new rabbit hole you’re about to go down in 😂

Great to see you back, I love your podcasts. Happy birthday and good luck with the move. I am interested in your spinning journey. I am also about to purchase a spinning wheel. I think I am going for the Ashford traditional. I have dabbled in spinning on spindles and recently took a workshop spinning on a wheel and I am hooked. I am so excited to begin this new journey x

Moving house is stressful but exciting. Congratulations on such a quick turn-around ... that removes extended stress. I absolutely love your Lunenburg colours. Would a corrugated rib hem be too much? Kate Davies uses that in many of her colourwork sweaters. I have just begun Siena using Erika Knight's Studio Linen. Getting gauge and figuring out needle size and garment size has been such a pain!
@KnittingWithCatHair5 ай бұрын
Thanks Alex! 🤗 I did contemplate a corrugated rib for the cuffs and waistband but still not sure if I want that much colour or just a hint. May have to do some experimenting when the time comes 😉 Siena is a pretty top. Is the sheer part done by altering needle sizes or holding less strands of yarn? Hope you're having a lovely summer 💕
@tamaragonzalez7086 ай бұрын
Hi Nikki, Your Stephenville Crossing is stunning. I knit Lunenburg and Roost (also with purl stitches in the yoke by Amy Christoffers. For that one I knit about an inch of the color work before the cuff). Congrats & good luck with your move.
