It is such a beautiful boat! Paul, thank you for this look into this epic journey! I have really enjoyed this and I especially love the rolling ocean footage. I feel as though I am at sea! Cheers!

Well it was definitely rolling and as you are always trying to keep your balance, it's a bit like going to the gym. I lost 5 kg in weight, cheers Paul

Paul , would you do it again and do you still sail on her ? You are doing a wonderful job of filming and showing the wonderful life of a small Tallship at sea.

Hi Mark yes I would do it again, I think I'm still fit enough and I regularly volunteer on day sails around the harbour, but that's not quite the same, cheers Paul

Hi Paul, I am not sure having the square sail square would make it easier to steer. If you do then you fishtail you want then slightly back. But this depends on the other sail configuration. You want slight weather helm.

Hi, yes the Duyfken has a high stern and catches the wind a lot, in those winds weere getting a lot of weather helm as we were reaching, thanks for watching cheers Paul

In weather like that even a large boat gets tossed around like a cork. When do we get to see footage of you scaling the mast?

Well Rob I was inducted as a climber, but you don't have to climb if you don't want to and with my dodgy knee that was probably a good thing. Thanks for watching again, cheers Paul

15:57? Pardon? Not quite sure what you mean. Reefing has been around since the dawn of sailing.
@seppoe

Actually reefing was invented something like 1650’s. Duyfken has bonnets on fore and main sails and sail area was reduced by removing those; it was rather rapid process, rope was released on the leech and then it would untie itself all the way to other leech. Putting it back was then a longer process - perhaps the wind was not too strong to necessitate bonnet removal anyway.

Thanks Seppo, very fiddly to put the bonnets back on, you have to lower the main course to the deck and in rolling seas keep it out of the water, cheers Paul
