Having renovated an1907 row house in Washington, DC, I completely understand the massive logistical problem of what to do next. It took us 8 years to complete the project, but when we were all done we were very glad we took the time to do it right. I also have a fine appreciation for the budgetary concerns. We would invest or budget, do the work, wait six months and refinance to restorer or renovation budget. That's part of the reason it took 8 years to complete. But once we finished, it was exquisite. Our home was even published in the Washington Post in an article about renovations. The lesson learned is don't be in a hurry, take your time and do it right. Just keep at it as you are proceeding and you will be rewarded in the end. You are lovely people and I am so glad you are sharing your dream with us. .

Lovely videos thanks for being so inclusive. You saw how long it takes to build wooden hulls from scratch, well those guys were: in the dry, working on the inside and outside at the same time and able to down tools and leave jobs half done to pick up later. You have to cope with so much more and you have learned on the job. I really enjoy your weekly vlogs from the comfort of my armchair, so don;t apologise for when and how you get things done. Crack on, good luck, and best wishes

Same as others commented, I do like to see progress on the bow. Your painting helps show what is done and not done. I'll keep watching all your fine work, regardless if it's more frames, stringers or web frames. When David from Cruising the Cut was their last year, much less of the bow was complete. Simply looking at the bow compartment's painting status. Comparing then to today, you have made amazing progress. I look forward to seeing the deck head done, (and the fore deck of course). In some ways, I'd like to see the fore deck with the solid bulwarks, like in the pictures from 10 years ago. But, the fore deck is quite a ways in the future. Change up as you need to do. Like fixing the roof over the forward salon. That work makes a difference in keeping the existing wood dry and mold free.

12/08/2022 Hello Ship. The videos on deck, old unfinished deck, illustrates the difference from the rebuilt deck and the unfinished deck. What a difference! I know that the fore-deck will be repaired and refinished, but for now this really shows progress. I am confused about the keel connections. Like you and simon said that everything is about the keel but ... I do not understand. All boat shows I have watched have special ways of connecting the walls to the keel. Simon showed the wedges. I hope that will make me understand. I do understand all of the other frame members and their purpose in the wall and sometimes the fore-deck structure. But for now, 6 months ago I await this work but I will not move to the end. I enjoy each phase of the work and will not miss any videos. Don usa

Just a suggestion for attaching the hull frames to the keel that might possibly work. Cut a short crossjack that fits between opposing starboard and port frames on the bottom, secure it to the frames and then through the crossjack to the keel.

A tip for those iron & steel parts. Water/grit blasting rusty steel is very efficient. It flash rust but that good. Leave 24 hours and treat with phosphoric acid. This converts rust to chemically inert iron phosphate. A sanding and second acid wash catches any missed areas. Rinse, dry and paint. Project Brupeg (in Australia) does this with their steel boat restoration.

You could invite a IBTC Lowestoft instructor up to "visit" to get a couple of pointers and comment (Grade)on how you're doing. Also, see if you can find the manual for the anchor windlass so when you have to remove it to do the fo’c’sle if you need anything special it can be on hand. Great job so far it is incredible how much you have accomplished to date and the punch list always seems to get two items added for everyone you take off. Those items you're adding though are minor, rather than fix the bow it replaces frame x on the starboard side. Please keep up showing the world how YOU"RE doing repairs to YOU'RE ship.

Another alternative think about on the frames. How about installing a brace at the lowest part of the frame across from wall to wall at each frame for about 6 feet. It will strengthen and tie in the walls, in case Simon decides to use the boat as an Icebreaker. These strengtheners could be used for additional deck support.

Us viewers don't really mind what we are watching cos it's all good stuff and the two of you make it good entertainment. You both have the right temperament for what you are doing and the dashes of comedy you inject really makes for great videos.. Keep doing what you do and OK you may lose a few bods from the viewers every once in a while but I'm sure you will still come out in front. I gues there are those who just don't get the feelings that go with doing something like this, and the satisfaction too, but hey ho, you can't please all of the people all of the time. You please a lot of the the people for most of the time which is better than a lot on here manage.
