In today's video, I will share with you what it means to live in Milan and what my monthly and yearly expenses are in a three-story house.
Today’s recipes are:
* Seared tuna in garlic and lemon sauce. This recipe takes less than 5 minutes to prepare: first, add salt and pepper to the tuna slices. When the oil is hot, add crushed garlic and the juice of half a lemon. Then sear the tuna, taking care to leave the center raw for a better taste.
* Polpo alla Luciana: Fill the head of the octopus with garlic, capers, and olives, and let it fry until it becomes soft. Then, add more garlic, cherry tomatoes, capers, and olives, and continue cooking until all the ingredients are done.
* Blueberry cupcakes: Mix sugar with lemon rind and butter in one bowl. Then, add the eggs. In another bowl, mix flour, yeast, baking soda, and a pinch of salt. Combine the two mixtures while adding the milk. Finally, fold in the blueberries and pour the batter into the cupcake pan. Bake for half an hour at 180 degrees Celsius.

* All-purpose flour 300 g
* Medium eggs (at room temperature) 2
* Sugar 135 g
* Soft butter 125 g
* Whole milk (at room temperature) 135 g
* Baking powder for sweets 8 g
* Baking soda ¼ teaspoon
* Vanilla pod 1
* Fine salt 1 pinch
* Blueberries 250 g

For example today, I went to the grocery store: celery was 5.99, tomatoes were 6.99 for a small package of cherry tomatoes, etc.. I now shop mostly with items on sale and adjust my meals accordingly. Your home is lovely! We live in Louisiana and made our first trip to Italy last March and fell in love with it! Both our ancestors are from Italy- mine Palermo and my husband from Gubbio. We visited: Venice Tuscany Florence Gubbio and Rome. Love Italian food but can’t do octopus!

We live in New Zealand, and yes, prices here are increasing on a weekly basis, food in particular. We have a garden, and my husband and I grow most of our vegetables over the summer months. In winter we have the basics like cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli. We have also found that lettuces, spring onions and radishes do well through winter, though of course they grow at a slower rate, and we cover them when the nights get very cold. I must say, I am envious of your mobile phone and internet prices! We pay $150 per month for two mobile phones and home internet. Tanti saluti da Christchurch.

Wooooow, I can say you live in paradise, both for your wonderful country and for your garden. It's my dream to have a garden where I grow my own veggies. I didn't even finish this house that I am already thinking to move to the country side, to be surrounded by an orchard and loads of flowers. 😬 Oh my, your mobile and internet it's insane!!!! Fortunately in Europe this is quite cheap. Maybe the only "cheap" thing left... I just googled Christchurch. Such a lovely place 😍😍😍 New Zealand was already on my To visit list. Now it's even more. I just subscribed and liked your video. I live on the Oregon Coast and every time I go to the market, prices have been higher. I've been buying food only when it is on sale. Plus, I make organic, veggie soup each week that lasts 5+ days. I can't imagine what young families are doing to survive the high cost of food. Sending peace-filled thoughts to everyone.

Your videos make me so homesick! Prices in Canada are way too high so I certainly feel your pain! What you spend in euros is roughly the same I pay for a household of 2 here. I have family in Milan and Rome and Aiello Calabro and it’s certainly cheaper in Aiello. That said enjoy your home (and your flowers)! Ciao!

A very nice kitchen sunny and bright. ❤ Love the stairs but I would need a hand railing. Went to grocery store the past two days and spent $85 just for myself. No meat since I'm stocked up. Always try to buy discount or sale items. I did breakdown and buy a cyclamen plant. Love the Fiats! Test drove them twice and was so much fun here in Pa. Have you tried frozen wild blueberries? They are higher in antioxidants and maybe cheaper than regular blueberries.

Regarding the meat, I forgot to say in the video that meat is not included in our spendings because my parents have a small farm so they give us the meat. For thes rest... discount or sale of course 😬 I am planning to forage some wild berries this year and I am going to freeze them. 😉 The frozen one in the supermarket here are quite expensive... I live in Chicago and it’s the same way here. And quite frankly there’s zero reason for such a hike in prices. Everything gets blamed on the pandemic but it’s just an excuse for stores and manufacturers to take advantage of the everyday person. I just got back from the grocery store and it as depressing. I’ve never been a gardener but starting this Spring I will be growing my own vegetables. Tomatoes, basil, parsley, basil, chives, zucchini, Swiss chard, berries and I’m even considering buying some chickens for the eggs. I could go for days without meat but my husband is a meat eater and loves salmon and cod and all of these are expensive. A pot roast as $20 today. Really? ? That’s supposed to be an inexpensive cut. It’s ridiculous. ❤

Hello Cory, merci pour ce partage et ta franchise🥰 Ici en Suisse (à Genève) les coûts sont plus élevés, les loyers, les produits pour la maison et la nourriture sont chers. Evidemment les salaires sont aussi plus élevés mais il y a aussi de la pauvreté. C'est difficile pour beaucoup de gens. J'ai la chance d'avoir un travail et un loyer pas trop élevé (je vis dans un vieil immeuble) malgré que j'habite en ville. Mais quand je fais mes courses, je dois faire attention à mes dépenses.🥴 Bon dimanche et à bientôt😘

Lucky you to live in the sunny California☺ and lucky you to own a house, because I heard that rent is ridiculous indeed. I know how ridiculous is in New York because I used to live there for a while. About my pup, no, I am not afraid because the park is quite big, very safe (no cars and few people all with good dogs) and he listens to me most of the time 😁. He runs behind the rabbits and sometimes he briefly disappears into the bushes, but he come out when I whistle or anyway he has an Airtag so I can see his location on my phone ☺. Have a great day❤

Here in Vaasa, Finland my mortgage is about 1,000 for a 2 bedroom with own private sauna. The seller had it listed for rent for 950 euro. My flat is in the heart of the city. While my rental income picks up the utilities cost for me and my tenant. Includes everything from internet, heating, water, trash, plumbing and electrical services, snow removal, lawn care, etc. for a family of 3 we spend 900 euro on food, we eat pretty good. We could live off of $2000 very comfortably. I can afford to stay at home and live off of one income while saving/investing 50% of the salary. Just a year ago I was still living in California and a 1 bedroom apartment for rent was $2400 a month (entire paycheck), very ugly too and that didn’t include internet and water and heating, electric bills.

Ciao, vivendo in Italia conosco bene i prezzi anche se forse a Milano sono più cari che a Genova dove vivo io. Anch'io vivo in campagna, ho una casa ristrutturata da poco, un giardino con tantissime piante aromatiche e qualche albero da frutta. Unfortunately you are more right than wrong. Let me break it for you how it is in my opinion. Milan is oversaturated, therefore the demand for rent is very high. The result: prices are absurdly unreacheable for people whose salaries haven't been raised for about ten years. Finding a job it's both easy and hard, that depends on some factors. If you agree on many extra not paid working hours, you may get the job (this might be an example). There is also a lot of nepotism, and NO meritocracy. I lived it on my own skin. Of course not everywhere is like this, but you have to be fortunate and of course there are a lot of wonderful kind and intelligent people. About racism, here it depends as well on the amount of intelligence the people you encounter have. I am a foreigner also, here surely the colour of the skin is irrelevant, but I rarely experienced xenophobia which is rooted as well especially against Eastern European people. Maybe that's because I blended completely with Italians and people think I am Italian. If you need some help, you can e-mail me, and I can give you all the info you will need to move here. I just read that housing costs here in Canada are the highest of the G7 countries. An average house cost in Vancouver is over 1.2 million dollars. I live in Ontario where it is also expensive i.e. a house down the street just went up for sale for over 2 million dollars. It is getting completely ridiculous.

Il problema è che anche i costi per comprare le case sono altissimi, per non parlare di tutte le spese che ci sono in più, tasse, mutui , IMU, notaio etc quindi gli affitti si alzano di conseguenza. Comprare diventa impossibile anche quando i prezzi sono alle stelle, ma gli stipendi rimangono sempre bassi (per non parlare delle infinite ore extra non pagate)... Un abbraccio 🤗

Grocery converted £_euro is around 695 euros per month i try and make it bit less. For 2 adult's 4 children and 1 🐕. Our mortgage is 1264euros per month fone up recently as interes base rates rise abd we onky typically fix 2 _5 years. 3 bed 2 story mid terrace house we still slowly renovating. Worth roughly 376,000 euros in value Cost living high here high inflation/ energy costs and taxes . Brexit has increased uk food prices. I too adore fresh flowers. You have a lovely home and kitchen and seem to eat well. Meat and fish so expensive we eating more vegetarian dishes. Rent seems broadly same as most big uk cities definitely comparable with London or Manchester.

Oh my, prices are crazy there too. I know London is insane, but I guess everywhere in UK prices have risen... I buy fish at discount all the time (i know more or less when they are obligated to put the discout tag on hahahahah) and we don't buy meat because my parents have small farm so we are quite lucky. About the renovation... yeah we didn't finish either. It will take some time. What furry baby do you have? 🐶😍

Am in India and cost of living is very low here compared to Western countries, but still it’s hard at times because per capita income is also low. I wonder what’s better.. high quality products and services at a high price like in the West or lower quality at cheap prices like we have here. I still think the western model may be better because you think much more deeply before having kids etc because of higher cost of living. Out here, we live in a more expensive city, and spend about 200 euros for the month for my husband and I, and our two pets at the supermarket (and that’s on the higher side by Indian standards). Rent for a three bedroom apartment in a good location of the city is nearly 600 euros equivalent, but they dont come fully furnished. We spend another 220 euros a month for two domestic helps. That’s usual in India because of high population and supply of cheap labour. They come in everyday to clean & do some basic cooking etc. Your video was so soothing to watch!

Yeah, a dear friend of mine who is Indian (but she lives in Milan) told me the situation is pretty hard over there too. Her parents live in India. I wouldn't know what it's better...For sure quality products and services are always welcome, but prices have skyrocketed and salaries are like 10 years ago... People don't afford things anymore. And the birth rate has fallen to its lowest level which is not ok at all. Stress of jobs and prices lead to a high rate of infertility as well... Anyway, you have high expenses as well considering the salaries over there, but you are so lucky to have someone who can clean your house everyday. Yeah in north everything is way more expensive, but I guess salaries are higher as well. How much is the medium? Here salaries have been stagnant for more than 10 years, but prices are skyrocketing. And taxes depend of the income. In some areas/business people pay until 70% in taxes which is absolutely insane.

Bonjour ! Ici dans l'Est de la France la vie est de plus en chère également avec l'inflation. L' année dernière nous avons payé 2500 euros de gaz pour nous chauffer. La maison est assez grande (138 m2) et les prix explosent. À deux nous avons 5500 Euro de revenus, notre maison est maintenant payée. Heureusement car ce serait très difficile autrement. Pour l'alimentation nous déboursons 1100 par mois pour 4. C'est énorme mais nous avons fait le choix de manger des produits frais et bios.. J' achète tres peu de vêtements, mon mari aussi, mes filles bien plus :) L' une est à l' Université et nous lui payons un loyer de 450 euros par mois. Merci d'avoir partagé tout ça avec nous, j' aime beaucoup aussi savoir comment cela se passe dans les autres pays. ❤ Ici pour le téléphone avec internet en illimité on paie 19 euros par mois. Notre voiture a 8 ans mais quand il faudra la changer je ferai comme toi , c'est bien moins coûteux finalement. Actuellement chaque réparation coûte autour de 800 euros ! En France les garagistes pratiquent des prix exorbitants.

Bonjour ! Nos amis ont également payé le même montant l'année dernière pour une surface similaire à la vôtre. Je pense qu'il s'agit d'une spéculation sur les prix due à la guerre à l'Est. En tout cas, c'est un chiffre énormeeeee !!!! Et vous avez de la chance d'avoir tous les deux un bon revenu, même si avec deux filles (nous savons combien elles ont de besoins, surtout à cet âge), ce n'est toujours pas facile. J'ai oublié de mentionner dans la vidéo que les courses ne comprennent pas la viande. Mes parents ont une petite ferme et nous fournissent du porc et du poulet, sinon nous devrions dépenser beaucoup plus. Dernièrement, nous avons également acheté très peu de vêtements, car tout notre argent a été consacré à la rénovation de la maison et à l'achat de meubles. Pour ce qui est de la voiture, si l'on fait la liste des dépenses pour une voiture, peut-être devrions-nous en louer une. Une fille m'a écrit dans les commentaires pourquoi ne jamais louer à long terme, mais peut-être qu'elle ne connaît pas tous les problèmes et les dépenses qu'une voiture peut entraîner. So how much did you wait until selling your investments and how much return did you get from the initial sum? I think investing is risky and if you want to gain money, you have to be risky. Then another thing is that the more money you put from the get go, the more return you might get. And this from not obvious reasons, but because of compound interest. A calculation would be: if you put 50 EUR per month, in 10 or 15 years you will get ~40k, so probably from bonds which are more secure. Defenetely will not take you out of poverty...

Ti faccio i complimenti perché non sono i soliti video con una che parla parla parla si lamenta parla si lamenta e parla 🫣, ma sono attimi di vita comune anche ai miei se mi permetti e con in sottofondo una musichetta allegra (ecchecavolo basta musiche da telenovela) Ho notato tante similitudini tra noi… un esempio? Io e il mio compagno abbiamo comprato casa nel 2021 e siamo ancora in fase di rifinitura dopo 14 mesi di ristrutturazione (fatta da noi), la nostra non ha 100 anni “solo” 58 😂 ,ma credimi è stata dura. Al posto del tuo Arly io ho la mia Dafne (gatta che vuole attenzioni e cibo costante), vicino a casa mia ho una foresta che dà sfogo alle mie camminate e alle mie “creazioni “ in stile ART ATTACK😅, uso anche io la Dexeryl ma per un problema di psoriasi (il mio corpo grida pietà’ ma la mia testa non lo ascolta😅😅) e per ultimo…. Adoro scrivere…. Certo non sono una scrittrice come te, sono un’umile casalinga che ha il bisogno costante di scrivere quello che le passa per la testa per rileggerlo e poi capire che il 90% di quello che scrive sono solo (passami il termine) cavolate mentali sue. Ciao Francesca! 23 anni è una bella età 😁😁😁 Comunque io dico sempre che non è l'età anagrafica quella che conta, ma come ci si sente dentro. 🤪 Devo dire che il tuo commento è quello che mi ha divertito di più. Ad essere sincera io parlo tanto nella vita reale, ma cerco di non lamentarmi, cerco invece di trovare del divertente anche nelle tragedie. Alla fine la commedia nasce dalla tragedia, no? È proprio vero che ci sono tante similitudini fra di noi. Se non mi sbaglio anche noi abbiamo comprato la casa nel 2021 a gennaio e anche noi abbiamo ancora tante, ma tante cose fa fare. Abbiamo usufruito del bonus 110 che hanno dipinto come oro gratis, ma ti posso assicurare che oro non è stato 😂😂. Essendo una casa vecchissima e messa malissimo, praticamente l'abbiamo buttata tutta giù e rifatta da capo (sono rimasti solo i muri perimetrali in piedi). Magari un giorno faccio un video su questo. hahah. Abbiamo comunque dovuto sborsare tanti soldi per la ristrutturazione perché abbiamo superato tutti i tetti massimi per le varie categorie e tanti lavori li abbiamo fatti noi. Sono solo una persona che scrive quelle che vede nei documentari visto che nessuna ha la pazienza di ascoltarla hahahahah. Mi piacerebbe però diventare una vera scrittrice un giorno. Come si chiama il borgo dove vivi? Io amo i borghi, sono così pieni di fascino e di storia. Una parte del mio libro e ambientato a Triora, il paese delle streghe e a Bussana Vecchia, entrambi dei borghi stupendi vicino a Sanremo. Forse li conosci perché saranno vicini a te. @@cozyhomediary 23 +20 🙈, ma la prof di inglese di mio figlio alla riunione mi ha scambiata per sua sorella e me la sono creduta tantissimo 😂😂😂. Abbiamo fatto il rogito di casa nostra il 17/2/21 e a noi purtroppo il superbonus non lo hanno dato, ma alla fine mi sa che non ci abbiamo perso tantissimo. Abitiamo a Perinaldo (800 matusalemme , qche gatto e molti cinghiali) e si che conosco Bussana e il paese delle streghe 🧙‍♀️… pensa che quando abbiamo comprato qui mia mamma mi guarda e mi dice “ ma dove c-- avete comprato? Con tutti i posti belli che abbiamo “ 😂😂😂 ma noi abbiamo voluto “staccarci” da tutto e tutti una sorta di nuovo inizio al giro di boa delle nostre vite. Alzarmi dal letto e vedere la valle, il mare e a volte la Corsica non ha prezzo. Come voi dobbiamo finire 3 stanze e tuuuutto il fuori, ma c’è la faremo … SPERO😜 Ti ringrazio tanto per avermi dedicato del tempo nel rispondermi e……. Pure io parlo un botto😅

@@francescaf7482 ci credo 😂😂😂 fa sempre piacere quando ci danno anni in meno. Alla fine la differenza di età fra di noi è veramente poca 😜. Per il rogito, hai ragione, è stato più un mal di testa incommensurabile che altro, poi dipende ovviamente dai tipi di lavori che si dovevano fare. Noi l'abbiamo completamente rifatta quindi... Ho guardato Perinaldo, è un gioiellino. Avete fatto benissimoooo!!!! Anche io vorrei spostarmi più in mezzo alla natura.
