EP.8 - Installing wall battens & vapour barrier - building up the van walls

We finally get to move on to the interior of the van. In (part one) we install the wall battens and vapour barrier into the van and explain how and why we do this.

Roofing Batten 25x50 - Travis Perkins

Vapour Barrier Roll (25m - Way to much for what we needed) We use about a 1/3 to 1/2 of the role.

Well done so far. I can tell how much fun you're having with this project. I tried to maximize the width at head level since the van is only 145cms above the low roof line, so I didn't put any battens to support the cupboards structure, I used the horizontal metal sheets and the vertical structural members to screw and bolt the cupboards in to. It worked fine. Yours is going to be definitely stronger. Well done fitting two windows in one side, mine has only one per side and DVLA will probably change it to van with windows instead of motor caravan, we'll see. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for your comment Pedro. I find it interesting how everyone does things slightly different. I like the idea of your way. I hope our van is able to pass ans a camper van when we are finished but still a way to go yet. We are quite a bit further on than the videos suggest as we are playing catch-up on editing. The bed build is next and has now been edited so should be going up soon. Thanks again for you comments. We enjoys talking with other enthusiasts.

Hay Oliver! Many thanks. We have taken our bulkhead out. The plan is to use double swivel seats to allow us to have friends eat in the van if the weather is bad. We haven’t fitted or got the parts yet for the seat but plan to. Thanks again for your comment. We appreciate it 👍🏼
