Curious, what’s the procedure of torching down the whole stove and pipe about? Asking as a Texan who has never used one.

No worries! Thanks for asking. :) Torching down the glass is a way to remove moisture and minimize soot buildup. And heating up the pipe helps to activate the draft and make the fire more quickly.
